The 15u Americans went into the weekend of May 31st- June 3rd with hopes to win their first tournament of the summer season. Playing in the 16u Great Lakes Invitational tournament in Evanston, IL the 15u Americans looked to prove they have what it takes to play with the older guys. Going into the tournament the Americans looked to build off a strong showing from their Top Tier Intersquad games just one weekend earlier. The Americans made it all the way to the championship game where they played the 16u Illinois Indians. After a strong start, starting 6-0, only to lose a heartbreaker as they fell to the Indians late, 8-4. One player that stood out was pitcher and third basemen Vytas Valincius. Valincius had a huge offensive weekend, going 9 for 16 at the plate including three doubles and four walks. Additionally, on the mound, Valincius was just as impressive as he got the starting nod in the semi-final game against the Cangelosi Black Sox. In that game Valincius got the win while only giving up one earned run with seven strikeouts.
