2017 C, Colin Rebenstorf, Commits to Ohio Northern University

Congrats on your new commitment!  What is it about Ohio Northern University (ONU) that excites you the most?

The exciting opportunity is that ONU has a Liberal Arts Pre-Professional Dentistry program coupled with an opportunity to play collegiate baseball.

I know that you have been with Top Tier for a number of years. What affect did that have on your recruitment?

Top Tier was instrumental in providing me the visibility to many collegiate baseball coaches through numerous tournaments and showcase events.

Talk a little bit about the recruiting process and how everything went down.

I would speak to a number of collegiate baseball coaches after tournaments and showcase events. I would stay in touch with them over social media. I would research the prospective college / university to determine if they offered a program of study that I had interest. I visited the schools campus through invitation. This gave me the opportunity to see the layout of the campus, visit the professors, and sit in on some classes.  In addition, I would meet all of the baseball coaches, tour the baseball fields, training facilities and locker rooms. It was exciting and a great learning experience.

What were some of the priorities you looked at when deciding where to commit?

My number one priority is my education. I was seeking a college / university that had a credible liberal arts program offering pre-professional dentistry program.

What are some of the goals you have set for yourself as a college baseball player?

In my first year, I would like to acquire some playing time at the collegiate level by gaining the confidence of the coaches. I also want to contribute to the success of the team.  Other goals include increase the number of QAB (quality at-bats) and decrease the number of pass balls allowed.

Is there anybody you would like to give a shout-out or thanks to?

I want to give thanks to my parents who have supported educational and athletic efforts.  I would also like to thank all of the coaches that have added something to my skill set over the years.  Finally, I would like to thank the Top Tier program for developing my skills as a player and more importantly as a young adult.
