2017 OF, Joe Trezek Commits to Benedictine

  1. Congrats on your new commitment! What is it about Benedictine that excites you the most?
The aspect that excites me most about Benedictine is the hospitality. Everyone I have met with had earned my immediate respect, especially the baseball coaches.

  2. You have been with Top Tier for quite a few seasons now. What made you choose this program as a youth player and how has it helped with you reaching your goals of playing at the collegiate level?
I was interested in joining this program as a youth player because of the values of "team" the coaches try to instill in everyone. Top Tier has helped me grow as a baseball player, but more importantly as a teammate on and off the field.

  3. Talk a little bit about the recruiting process and how everything went down. For many the recruiting process is very hectic. For me, though, this process was fairly simple and short. I was looking for a Division III college team to play for. A Benedictine coach had noticed me at a Unsigned Senior showcase hosted by PBR at the MAX. From there, I received e-mails and texts from the coaches asking if I was interested in a visit. The school felt so right and I decided to commit. A lot of players should take a step back and slow down their recruiting process, it surely helps a lot.

  4. What were some of the priorities you looked at when deciding where to commit? Being a St. Rita baseball player, a family aspect within a baseball team is very important to me. So, when I had the honor to meet with the Benedictine coaches, it immediately felt like they were my family. This welcoming feeling was one of the instant selling points for my commitment decision.

  5. What challenges do you see ahead of you before you get to campus?
The only challenge  I see before arriving on the college campus will be leaving my St. Rita brothers.

  6. What are some of the goals you have set for yourself as a college baseball player?
The biggest goal I have laid out for myself is to have the best time of my life playing the game I love because it will fly by.

  7. Is there anybody you would like to give a shout-out or thanks to? I would like especially thank my father, William Trezek, for being by my side for these past seventeen years. Also I would like to thank him for introducing me to the best game on earth. Lastly, I would like to thank all of my past Top Tier and St. Rita coaches for showing me the ropes to become a successful baseball player and good teammate.
