2018 MIF Michael Carey Commits to Austin Peay

Congrats on your new commitment! What is it about Austin Peay that excites you the most?

The thing that excites me most about my commitment to Austin Peay State University is that it gives me an opportunity to thrive in both my academic and baseball careers.

You have spent all of your high school career with Top Tier. Tell us about your experience.

My experience with Top Tier has been life changing. The support I received from my coaches and teammates is something I will always remember.

Talk a little about the recruiting process and how everything went down.

My recruiting process started during my 16u summer. I heard from a couple coaches who were interested. I wanted a school that was a good fit, both academically and athletically.

What were some of the priorities you looked at when deciding where to commit?

Some of the priorities I wanted in a college were, wanting a good education, a place where I could succeed in baseball and also a place that felt like home.

What challenges do you see ahead of you before you get to campus?

The main challenges I see ahead for myself before I get to campus are to keep getting stronger and faster. I want my body to be college ready by the time I get on campus.

What are some of the goals you have set for yourself as a college baseball player?

Some of the goals I have as a college baseball player are to keep getting better and take advantage of opportunity. I want to help my team win as a many games as possible.

Is there anybody you would like to give a shout-out or thanks to?

I would like to thank my parents, my brothers, my sister, everyone from Top Tier and all the coaches that got me here. (Coach Plante, Coach Griff, Coach Fine, Coach Zicher, Coach Riley, Coach Plastiak, Coach Dehaan, Coach Doug) Every single one of them has believed in me from the beginning and pushed me everyday to be the person and baseball player I am today.
