2018 OF, Austin Ehren, Commits to Belmont

Congrats on your new commitment! What is it about Belmont that excites you the most?

The thing about Belmont that excites me the most is that it gives me an opportunity to go to a very good business school as well as to continue my baseball career at a high level.

You joined Top Tier 4 years ago. Talk a little bit about what it has been like and what it means to play for Top Tier.

Since I started playing for Top Tier four years ago, it has been life changing. The support I received from all of the Top Tier coaches helped me so much with continuing my baseball career, as well as the memories and the friends I will never forget.

Talk a little bit about the recruiting process and how everything went down.

I began emailing coaches the summer of my 16u team, as well as my junior year at Carmel Catholic High School, then once I started my 17u summer with Top Tier, I heard a couple of schools were interested and came out to see me. In the end it came down to a few schools that I felt like were a good fit for me both academically and athletically.

What were some of the priorities you looked at when deciding where you wanted to commit?

Some priorities I looked at in a school where I had a possibility to commit to was a good business program. I also wanted a place where I could see myself living after college.

What challenges do you see ahead of you before you get to campus?

Some of the main challenges that I see ahead before I head to college is to get stronger and faster in the off-season.

What are some of the goals you have set for yourself as a college baseball player?

Some of the goals I have set for myself is to always find little things in my game to get better at, as well as help my team get as many wins as possible.

Is there anybody you would like to give a shout-out or thanks to?

I would like to give a shout-out to my parents, my brother, my close friends, and all my coaches since I was little who helped me achieve my goal.(Coach Plante, Coach Phelps, Coach Fine, Coach Zicher, Coach Bikus) Every single one of them helped me get better at my game which helped me achieve my goal in playing Division 1 baseball.
