2019 INF Marc Zavala Commits to Robert Morris University

Congrats on your new commitment! What is it about Robert Morris that excites you the most?

After my visit, I got to see many big opportunities for me in the near future not only with baseball but with my academics as well. Robert Morris has great facilities to get bigger, faster and stronger.

You joined Top Tier at the end of the summer/start of fall in 2018. Talk a little bit about your experience and what it means to wear the TT’s.

It’s been nothing but a blessing to me. Top Tier has helped me to be an all around player. It’s full of awesome coaches that really push you to where you need to be and I like that.

Talk a little bit about the recruiting process and how everything went down.

Before I went to Top Tier, I had no idea where to start and how to begin. I had a couple schools in mind but was just nervous to see if they would really invest in me. Once I got to Tier, they showed me how the recruiting process worked and guided me along the way. I had to start talking to small schools then work my way up. I had a whole month full of visits and that led me to finding Robert Morris and committing with them.

What were some of the priorities you looked at when deciding where you wanted to commit?

I looked at their academic opportunities. By that, I mean their class size, graduation rate, and if they had my major or not. I also looked at their baseball program. I had to look at their competition and what coaches will I be around the next 4 years.

What challenges do you see ahead of you before you get to campus?

I don’t think I have any challenges right now other than meeting new people and figuring out the commute there.

What are some of the goals you have set for yourself as a college baseball player?

I'm just trying to “show up and show out” like coach Griff once told me. My goal is to compete to my best ability and show myself that I can do things that nobody else thinks I can do.

Is there anybody you would like to give a shout-out or thanks to?

I first would like to give a shout out to my mom. She’s been both the mom and dad in my life and still manages to handle 3 kids on her own. I would also like to thank Coach Betts, Coach Griff, Coach Plante, and Coach Garza. These guys gave me a warm welcome to the Top Tier organization and get me better and better every time I’m with them. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. So, thank you, guys!
