Congrats on your new commitment! What is it about Indiana Wesleyan that excites you the most?
What excites me most about Indiana Wesleyan is being able to arrive on campus in the fall and being able to become part of a great program. Ultimately I am really excited to see how much I can grow as a baseball player and as a person and to see if I am truly capable of fulfilling my dream of one day playing professionally.
Tell us what the experience has been like playing for Top Tier and what it means to wear the TT?
I started Top Tier in 14u and played with the program for 4 years. What led me towards joining was me going to St. Laurence and Top Tier being a significant part of the culture there. Coach Sallee was my coach in 14u and he was a great coach I had a blast winning a lot of ball games and building a lot of new friendships. During my 4 years playing for Top Tier I can say that it was the most fun I had playing baseball in my life and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Once you play for Top Tier you are held to different standards than every other program in the country and you represent all the great players that came before you and who paved the path with the expectations being so high there is no other option but succeeding at everything you do and that’s what we did.
Talk a little bit about the recruiting process and how everything went down.
The recruiting process can be overwhelming at times but, overall for me it was great. I had schools contact me throughout the summer of my 17u year after the big tournaments we were in like the Perfect Game event in Georgia and the Music City Classic in Tennessee. These tournaments did big things in recruitment for me personally. After the summer season ended me and my family set up a few visits and eventually narrowed it down to a couple schools which then I discussed it over with my high school coach and had to take some time to truly decide.
What were some of the priorities you looked at when deciding where you wanted to commit?
The big things I looked at were do I see myself living at this school for 4 years and if I will be able to make an impact as a freshman. The final thing was money I wanted to go to a school where I can go to college at a very affordable price while still getting a quality college education.
What challenges do you see ahead of you before you get to campus?
Ultimately for me it is getting stronger and gaining weight so I can increase velocity on my fastball and lessen the risk of injury.
What are some of the goals you have set for yourself as a college baseball player?
I want to make an impact as a freshman any way I can to benefit the team also get my body weight up to 180-200 pounds by first pitch and this will open up many doors for me on the mound. As a Sophomore I want to be an impact piece on the mound and by Junior year be eligible to enter the draft and hopefully get drafted.
Is there anybody you would like to give a shout-out or thanks to?
I would like to give a shout out to all my coaches at Top Tier and St. Laurence also to all my teammates who have supported me throughout this process. Finally, I would like to give a shout out to my family without them none of this would be possible for me and they gave me all the support I could ask for.
