2019 OF Kevin Dowling Commits to Murray State

Congrats on your new commitment! What is it about Murray State that excites you the most?

Definitely the coaching staff, I am really looking forward to work with Coach Migliaccio and learn from some of the more experienced guys on the team.

You joined Top Tier as an incoming freshman. Tell us about your experience and what it means to wear the TT?

It’s been an unreal experience, knowing I'm competing with top notch players and being able to learn from these coaches is really unbelievable. Anywhere I go repping the TT I always have a chip on my shoulder, whether it’s on or off the field.

Talk a little bit about the recruiting process and how everything went down.

Well, this summer is really when the whole recruiting process began for me. Coach Crawford was the first of the Murray State coaches to reach out to me. Coach Crawford and I talked a lot and we set up a visit for the end of this past summer. I really enjoyed it and so did my dad, they offered me a scholarship that same day. I decided late November that I wanted to commit to Murray State.

What were some of the priorities you looked at when deciding where you wanted to commit?

One of the many things I factored in with the whole decision making process was whether or not they were a program on the rise or going downhill. I was just looking for a place I can really grow not only as an athlete, but a student as well. Definitely the biggest factor was money. My parents pay for 6 of us to attend Catholic schools so really I couldn’t pass up on the scholarship I received. I was excited to have saved so much money for my parents in the upcoming years.

What challenges do you see ahead of you before you get to campus?

Really just getting to know some people down there, it shouldn’t be too hard with baseball and that stuff because I have been doing that my whole life. No one really goes to Murray State where I am from so I’m excited to be on my own.

What are some of the goals you have set for yourself as a college baseball player?

I just want to grow and become the best athlete I can be. I would like to play baseball for as long as my body lets me. I also would like to make an impact early, be a key role player on the team.

Is there anybody you would like to give a shout-out or thanks to?

I would like to thank my parents for everything they have provided and done for me throughout this whole journey. The countless road trips and all the money invested into me has not gone overlooked. I’d also like to thank Coach Griff, Todd, Coach Plante, Coach Kyle Colletta, Coach Sallee and all of the coaching staff at Top Tier who has worked to make me the player I am today.
