Alumni Roundup: Postseason

The regular season has come to a close, and we, just as many of our alums, have our sights set on the NCAA Tournament and the College World Series.

In this postseason alumni roundup, we'll take a look at award winners from the regular season and list the alums who have qualified for regional play.

Atlantic Coastal Conference

Blake Wright (Clemson) has had a stellar year that he hopes doesn’t end any time soon. Wright was named to the All-ACC Second Team. He’s homered 21 times on the season and is hitting at a .321 clip. He was also named a Golden Spikes Award Semifinalist. The Golden Spikes award winner is named on June 22. Fan voting is now open and you can vote by clicking here.

Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference

Nick Monile (Niagara) earned All-MAAC Second Team and All-Rookie team honors after a standout freshman season for the Purple Eagles. He hit for a .340 average and struck out just 20 times in 162 at-bats. Monile is a Top Tier Roos alum from Tampa, Fla.

Mid-America Athletic Conference

Colin Summerhill (MAC) earned All-MAC Second Team honors after a historic season. As a senior, and in his second year as a Huskie, Summerhill set the all-time Huskie single season record for home runs with 19. He accomplished this feat on April 19 against Kent State. He hit .290 on the year and drove in 65.

Ohio Valley Conference

Lucas Spence (SIUE) was a top bat in the OVC. His efforts earned him All-OVC First Team. In his first season with the Cougars, Spence hit .385 and had an OBP% of .473. He had 23 XBH with five homers and 14 doubles. He was also a two-way player hopping on the mound on occasion. On the hill, he logged 18.2 innings and K’d 22 in that stretch.

Pac-12 Conference

Brendan Summerhill (Arizona) emerged as a sophomore standout for the Wildcats. Hitting in the lead-off spot, Summerhill has proven to be one of the top hitters in a loaded lineup for Arizona. Over the course of the season, Summerhill hit .329 with eight homers and 58 knocked in. Most notably, his clutch factor has been on display for the majority of the season. He’s had big hits in big spots. Heading into the regionals as a host, Summerhill looks to help his team back to the CWS.

Jackson Kent (Arizona) has been everything you look for in an ace. Making the Pac-12 All-Conference team, Kent solidified himself as one of the top arms in the league. Kent doubled his innings from a season ago, and he was lights out more often than not on Fridays. He threw 86 frames and allowed 39 runs. He struck out 89 on the season and walked just 27.

Southeastern Conference

Liam Peterson (Florida) was awarded Freshman All-SEC honors after a solid first year with the Gators. Peterson ran into a bit of a rocky start at the beginning of the season but bounced back in the back half. Overall, Peterson threw 54 innings across 14 appearances with 12 starts. He allowed 35 ER and 29 BB while striking out 63.

Sun Belt Conference

Sam Antonacci (Coastal Carolina) made an impact in his first season in a Coastal uniform. Earning All-Sun Belt First Team honors, Antonacci was a headliner in the Chanticleers lineup. He hit .381 with four homers, 41 driven in and slugged .486. His OBP was .526 and he stole 14 bags, too.
