The 2026 season has given us a lot to keep an eye on, and thankfully for college baseball fans, there's still some time left in the regular season for more storylines to play out. This week was no different in terms of performances to marvel at. The lefty trio of Wes Mendes, Hunter Dietz and Tomas Valincius has been fun to watch, and they did their thing again this past weekend. Jimmy Anderson now has more homers than strikeouts this season (crazy, right?). Steven Milam slugged a pair of homers against Texas A&M in a strong week for the Roos alum.
Here's what stood out during a fun week:
Wes Mendes (Florida State) turned in another strong outing on Friday, leading Florida State to an 11-0 win over Notre Dame. He worked six innings, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out seven. Mendes improved to 7-2 on the season and now holds a 2.05 ERA with 81 strikeouts across 57 innings.
Back-to-back strikeouts leave a runner on in the 6th.

Hunter Dietz (Arkansas) earned his fourth win of the season in a Thursday start against Georgia. He went 5.1 innings, allowing two runs while striking out six to maintain a narrow lead atop the SEC in strikeouts. Dietz continues to be a key piece in Arkansas’ rotation as the Razorbacks push through the final stretch of the season.

Tomas Valincius (Mississippi State) matched the strong pitching performances with one of his own on Friday at South Carolina. He threw 6.2 innings, allowing three runs while striking out 11 to earn his seventh win of the season. Valincius now sits just one strikeout behind Dietz for the SEC lead and is set to start next weekend at home against LSU.

Vytas Valincius contributed at the plate in the series finale, collecting three hits as Mississippi State completed a sweep of South Carolina. The Valincius brothers played a key role in the Bulldogs’ success over the weekend. This was Vytas’ first return to Columbia since playing at USC his freshman season.
Jimmy Anderson (Heartland) added five hits over the week against Lewis & Clark Community College and hit his 18th home run of the season during Saturday’s doubleheader. Anderson now has more home runs than strikeouts and is hitting .465 as Heartland approaches the final stretch of the regular season. Heartland’s regular season concludes after next weekend’s series against Illinois Central College.
John Abraham (Florida State) recorded his fifth save of the season in Saturday’s win over Notre Dame. He threw 3.1 innings, allowing three hits while striking out three. Making his first appearance in nine days, Abraham delivered once again and now holds a 0.78 ERA on the season.
