Alumni Roundup: Week 12

Despite entering a new month, we’re seeing recurring themes in this week’s alumni roundup. One alum has re-captured an ACC accolade he was awarded back in March. Meanwhile, more alums are finishing the season strong with an eye on peaking at the right time as we approach postseason play.

Alum of the Week

Blake Wright, once again, put together an outstanding weekend. For the second time this season, Wright has earned the ACC Player of the Week and now the Top Tier alum of the week.

His statline for this weekend is as follows: 6-for-11 (.545) with 3 HR, 2B, 6 R and 11 RBI. According to ACC.com, nine of his 10 RBI in a doubleheader against Georgia Tech came with two outs.

Wright earned the ACC Player of the Week award on March 25 after a historic week which included an array of home runs in pivotal moments.

Clemson is listed as the No. 2 team in the nation by D1baseball.com and looks to snag a W in a midweek against Charlotte. After that, they head to Wake Forest for a weekend set.

Nick Monile (Niagara) upped his average to .388 and collected six hits in a weekend sweep of Quinnipiac. Monile has hit safely in eight of his last 10. He has only struckout 14 times in 129 at-bats this season.

Monile and Niagara have set a new program record by accumulating 30 wins - and counting - on the season.
