Alumni Roundup: Week 12

The first weekend of May is now behind us, and we're set for the stretch run of the 2025 collegiate season. Many of our alums are eyeing postseason runs and are putting themselves in prime position to peak at the right time. Here's a look at where we are in early May...

Week 12

Daniel Pacella
has been one of the more consistent alums this season, and he's primed for an impactful stretch run for the Redbirds. He's hitting .363 after a weekend against Missouri State. He had a pair of hits including a homer - his 16th of the season - and drove in a pair as well.

Liam Peterson
and the Gators battled some weather this past weekend against South Carolina but left Columbia with a sweep. Peterson started on Friday night but faced one hitter before a lengthy rain delay would end his night. He started the following day and secured a win, throwing 3.1 innings and allowing two earned.

Peterson is now 8-2 on the season with a 4.09 ERA. The Gators have won four consecutive series.

Jameson Martin (Minnesota) had an XBH in a midweek against St. Thomas (MN) and a pair driven in. He'd add another RBI against Nebraska on Friday. Nick Monile (North Florida) had three hits last week, all coming against UCF. Shane Curtin (Creighton) had a pair of clean innings last week, one against Omaha and one against Butler.

Kenny Perez (Western Illinois) had a trio of hits against Bradley and SIUE last week and drove in a run.

Brenden Stressler
had a solid weekend against UMASS, collecting six total hits across the three-game set. He matched his six hits with six RBI. He hit his 10th and 11th homer of the season on Sunday in a doubleheader. Stressler bumped his average up to .301 and has been swinging it well dating back to mid April.

Vytas Valincius
(Illinois) had five hits and drove in a run across four games last week. He drew six walks and stole a base, with four of those walks coming over the weekend at Rutgers. Valincius shined on defense a few times this past weekend. He had an outfield assist on Friday, which you can watch below.

Tommy Egan
(UIC) had a stellar outing for the Flames on Saturday against Valparaiso. Six innings of one-run, four-hit ball would earn him the win. He K'd seven in the outing and helped the flames to a 9-1 victory.

Lucas Smith
(UIC) continues to swing a hot bat. With Coach Matt Plante in attendance, he started the week hot with a game against Washington. He had three hits, one being a double, and knocked in a run. Then, against Valparaiso, Smith had four hits with a triple in a series sweep. Smith is hitting .331 entering the first full week of May.

Mack Whitcomb
(Tennessee Tech) has reached the double digit mark in homers with 10, launching one against SEMO on Saturday. He drove in a pair, leading to a 7-1 Golden Eagles win. TTU would sweep SEMO and is now just a game out of first place in the OVC standings.

Matt Barnes II
with a solid outing for UC Davis on Sunday. Four innings, no runs, one hit and five K's for the freshman from El Cerrito. The Aggies would drop a close one to LBSU but Barnes did great work in his four frames.
