Alumni Roundup: Week Seven

Moving into the middle part of the collegiate season, we continue to keep close tabs on our Top Tier alums. Pro alums are in full swing as well, with the MLB opening day in the books.

We’ll recap some of the highlights from the last weekend of March below.

Alum of the Week

Hunter Mink
(USF) added his name to Bulls history. He tossed the first 9-inning complete game at USF in six years. Against Charlotte, Mink allowed two and struck out six and secured the CG for an 11-2 victory. He tossed 123 pitches in the outing. Plus, he added himself to the AAC honor roll early this week, a weekly list of AAC top performers.

Mink is a 2019 grad and played for the Top Tier Roos. Previously committed to Florida, Mink is now at USF and providing tremendous value to a Bulls squad that sits at 16-12.

Notable Performances

Noah Edders
(Bradley) delivered a stellar outing against Valparaiso, pitching six solid innings and striking out seven batters while allowing just two earned. Despite the Braves dropping the series, Edders showed well on the mound, improving his record to 4-2 on the season.

Vytas Valincius (Illinois) had a standout weekend series against Penn State, tallying hits in all three games. He homered in the series finale and drove in a total of five runs over the weekend, including a multi-hit performance in the opener.

Brendan Summerhill
(Arizona) ignited an electric weekend for the Wildcats with clutch performances against UCLA - all walk-offs. In Thursday's game, he sealed the victory with a walk-off, two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning. Summerhill didn’t stop there. He added three hits in the series finale, contributing to Arizona's impressive sweep over the Bruins.

Colin Summerhill
(Northern Illinois) has been a consistent force at the plate, hitting safely in four consecutive games. He displayed some pop yet again with a home run in the series finale against Toledo, bringing his season total to nine. Additionally, Summerhill leads the MAC in walks with 22.

Khyle Radcliffe
(Southern University) had three hits on the weekend against Prairie View. Radcliffe is hitting at a .368 clip and continues to prove himself as one of the top hitters in the SWAC. Southern added a win over LSU on Monday, April 1.

Cade Kurland and the Florida Gators took the series against Mississippi State this weekend. Kurland added four hits and three RBI to his credit including two doubles. He helped the Gators walk-off Friday night's game with a single (see below).

Daniel Pacella
(Illinois State) went 3-for-4 with two homers against Missouri State in the series finale, a series in which was swept by the Redbirds. ISU scored a combined 31 runs in the series with Pacella driving in eight of those runs.

Nick Monile
has a 13-game hit streak going as part of Niagara. He’s hitting .438 as a freshman and doesn’t show signs of slowing down. He collected six hits and drove in seven in a weekend series against Marist. Niagara, with a sweep of Marist, is now 18-7.

MLB Alums

Headlining our pro alums are MLB’ers
Ryan Borucki (Pirates) and Paul DeJong (White Sox). DeJong enters his first season in Chicago while Borucki stays in Pittsburgh after spending the majority of the 2023 season with the Pirates.

DeJong homered for the White Sox in a Saturday loss to the Tigers. Borucki has pitched three innings striking out five thus far. The Pirates swept the Marlins in their opening series.
