Alumni Roundup: Week Six

 

Week six of college baseball is in the books, and conference play is underway for every team in the country. Bats stood out this week, and not only are week keeping track of hit streaks but a home run streak has made its way to the forefront. Find out who has homered in three consecutive games and check out the rest of the Top Tier alums who stood out this week...

Week Six


Mack Whitcomb
(Tennessee Tech) continues his hot hitting this week against Austin Peay and Little Rock. He tallied four hits including a double and homer over four games, while driving in five runs. Whitcomb is now hitting .322 with five homers and 26 knocked in over the first six weeks of the season and is a middle-of-the-order hitter for the Golden Eagles.


Vytas Valincius
and the Fighting Illini traveled north to Evanston for a weekend series with Northwestern. Valincius, with family in attendance, homered on Friday in game two of a doubleheader. He had two hits and two RBI on the day. In total, Valincius had four hits on the week with three knocked in in a 2-2 week for Illinois.


Brendan Summerhill'
s average is sitting at .409 this season with 13 XBH and 24 driven in. On the week, Summerhill had five hits, four knocked in and three stolen bases. The Arizona Wildcats went 3-1 with a series win against West Virginia and a midweek win against Kansas.


Nick Monile
(North Florida) had four hits on the week and is hitting .333 for the 15-9 Ospreys. Kenny Perez (Western Illinois) also had four hits on the week - all coming against Southern Indiana. He had a double and a stolen base during Sunday's finale. He's hitting .343 on the year. Brenden Stressler tallied four hits between a midweek against Bradley and a weekend series at Dayton. SLU went 2-2 on the week. 


Noah Edders
and Troy secured a narrow 9-8 victory on Saturday, helping towards a series win against then-No. 16 Coastal Carolina. Edders threw six innings and gave up three runs on eight hits. He K'd nine and left the game with a 5-3 Trojan lead. The team would end up walking it off leaving Edders with a no-decision. 


Jameson Martin
 (Minnesota) continues to launch baseballs. He hit his fourth homer of the season on Saturday against High Point. That homer was one of two hits he had on the weekend - he also drove in three runs to help the Gophers to a series win.


Daniel Pacella
(Illinois State) is swinging it extremely well as of late. This week alone, he collected seven hits including a 2B and three homers. He's hitting .419 right now and is currently rocking a 13-game hit streak. His home run streak is at three games, having homered in each game against Belmont.


Josh Outlaw
and Graham Mastros have been continuing to swing it well themselves. Mastros had six hits between the midweek and weekend series. He drove in three and had a pair of doubles to his credit. He's hitting .276 on the year and has eight stolen bases. Outlaw had three hits and five RBI throughout the week. Outlaw is seeing more time and getting more AB's as of late. He's hitting .314 on the young season.


Steve Milam
(LSU) had a four hit week in a 2-2 showing for the Tigers. Milam is hitting .364 on the season with five homers, 26 knocked in and seven doubles.

Colin Husko had a standout game on Friday at Southern Illinois. He went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a run knocked in. The Flames would win the opener but drop the next two. In the finale, Husko added two more hits and a double but in a losing effort.
