Week three of Division I baseball is in the books and so is the month of February. Plenty of action took place around the country to cap the month of February and open up March.
Always an early-season treat, Florida took on Miami (FL) which we kept a close eye on. Mississippi State is one of a few remaining undefeated teams. And all it took were a couple Top Tier Roos alums to take the mound on Saturday for Florida State as Wes Mendes and John Abraham go back-to-back to take the series against The Citadel.
Here's a look at week three in college baseball:
Tomas Valincius continues to settle into his Saturday role for Mississippi State. The left-hander worked 5.1 innings against Virginia Tech, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out seven to earn the win in a 15-8 victory. Valincius will likely get the ball on Saturday in Starkville vs. Lipscomb.

Vytas Valincius saw limited action during the week but recorded a hit in a midweek matchup against Austin Peay. He logged two at-bats Friday against Arizona State.
Jack Bauer appeared in both midweek and weekend action for the Bulldogs. He tossed 0.2 of an inning against Austin Peay, allowing two hits while striking out two. Bauer returned to the mound Saturday against Virginia Tech and allowed three runs on three hits in a shortened outing.
Liam Peterson held strong in the always-heated rivalry series between Florida and Miami (FL). The right-hander opened the set Friday night, working 5.2 innings and allowing two runs on six hits while striking out eight. Florida completed the two-game sweep after the finale was called due to rain.
Peterson has struck out 20 and walked just three hitters over his past 11 innings. He is scheduled to start Friday against High Point at Condron as part of the Gators 10-game homestand.

Cade Kurland recorded three hits in a midweek matchup against FIU, including a double and drove in two runs. The Florida infielder did not appear in the weekend series against Miami.
Tommy Egan battled through five innings in Friday’s opener for Troy, allowing three runs on five hits in a 4-3 loss to East Carolina in Greenville, South Carolina. Troy dropped games to East Carolina and Western Carolina before salvaging the finale against Rutgers.
Cal Schembra continues to impress early in his freshman season at Valparaiso. Schembra collected four hits and four RBIs over the weekend, including a home run in Friday’s opener and a triple in Sunday’s finale against Alabama State. Valparaiso secured the series win as Schembra becomes a staple in the middle of the order.
Steven Milam totaled two hits over the week for LSU. The Tigers rebounded from a midweek loss to McNeese State with three weekend wins.
