To no one's surprise, a few Tier alums continued to solidify themselves as some of the top arms in the country thus far. Valincius, Peterson and Mendes have been on a tear to start 2025. Amir Gray and Dasaan Lee have a pair of firsts and Brendan Summerhill helps lift Arizona to a win against the top-ranked team in the nation.
Here are some of the top moments from week three..
Week Three
Tomas Valincius had another outstanding showing, this time in his first start in Charlottesville. He got the ball on Saturday afternoon against Dartmouth and allowed one run but was otherwise lights out. He struck out nine in his outing, adding to the impressive start to his freshman season. His 25 strikeouts this season are most by any freshman in the country and most by a Cavalier since 2013.

Unclear as to whether Valincius will continue getting the nod on Saturday's for UVA, but he's set for a weekend showdown against ACC opponent, Boston College, to kickoff conference play.
Continuing the theme of lights out arms, Liam Peterson secured a Friday night win against rival Miami. Peterson threw six innings, gave up two earned on four hits and struck out seven. His efforts helped Florida to a 6-2 win and series victory over the Hurricanes.

Between a midweek game against Rice and a weekend bout with heavyweights, Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Tennessee, Brendan Summerhill tallied seven hits throughout the week. Against Rice, he fell a HR short of the cycle and he drove in a pair of runs in an 11-8 win over the Owls. On Friday, the Wildcats upset Texas A&M, and Summerhill had an infield hit to drive in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning - one of his three knocks. Arizona followed up the big win with another one-run victory over then No. 18 Mississippi State. They'd drop the finale against Tennessee but overall a productive weekend for the Wildcats and Summerhill.

Vytas Valincius has hit safely in every game this season, good for a nine-game hit streak. Valincius tallied three knocks against Washington on Sunday and drove in three to help lead Illinois to a close win over the Huskies. The Illini host Eastern Illinois in a midweek before traveling to Vero Beach, FL. for a weekend set with Michigan.
Illini teammate of Vytas, Luke Weber and HQ alum, got some action this week. Against Aurora, Weber threw an inning and allowed a run on two hits. He got knocked around a bit against Texas but looks to bounce back this week.
Cade Kurland had a five-hit week for Florida, which included a 2B and a HR. Against Stetson, he launched a three-run home run in the later innings of the game to push the lead out of reach. In a funny moment, Kurland's HR ball bounced off of the Stetson OF's glove and bounced over the fence.

Wes Mendes continues to shove for Florida State. In 15 innings this season, Mendes has given up just one run on eight hits. Most recently, he threw five frames against Georgetown in a 4-3 win, and struck out eight hitters. The Seminoles have won three Mendes starts by a combined 19-6 score and have yet to drop a game this season.
Wes Mendes struck out eight in five scoreless today. Felt like he got better as he went deeper into his outing. Explosive FB sat mostly 90-92 but reached back for 93-94 when he needed it. SL/CB were both good. 13 total swings and misses. All eight Ks: pic.twitter.com/UAVVskg362

Jaylon Nauden also had five hits in a week that saw five games for Arkansas-Pine Bluff. He's hitting .261 on the year with six knocked in.
McCall Biemiller debuted on Wednesday against North Florida. The Florida lefty had an inning of work and walked two, struck out one. Florida would win 7-6.
