The 16u Americans had another impressive showing this past weekend as they went a perfect 5-0 in the Music City Classic showcase in Nashville, Tennessee. Many players from top to bottom had strong showings down South, but nobody was able to impress coach Phelps like left-handed pitcher Chris Seropian. The outfielder had an amazing weekend both at the plate and on the mound. Seropian held a .714 batting average, a .750 on-base percentage, and slugged .857 over the past weekend. On top of that he was able to score three times while knocking in two RBI’s. Furthermore, Seropian kept that same production when he got his sole start on the mound. In a 6-0 victory against the Indiana Bulls-Black, Seropian threw a complete game seven inning shutout. He struck out four while walking only two. Surprisingly, this was the first time Seropian walked a batter since his first appearance of the summer. His consistency on the mound is no doubt one of the main reasons the 16u Americans have gotten off to such a hot start this summer season. With the help of Seropian’s steady hitting and pitching, the Americans are now 18-2-2 on the year.
