MLB Draft 2019 saw three former Top Tier Players get drafted: Jalen Greer, Senior shortstop from St. Rita High School, Cooper Johnson, Junior catcher from Ole Miss, and Ashton Creal, Sophomore outfielder from John A. Logan CC.
Jalen Greer, St. Rita High School
Drafted in the 5th Rd as the 164th overall pick to the Oakland Athletics. Greer has had a unbelievable senior season at St. Rita leading his team down State in the Illinois 4A State semi-finals this weekend. Greer is hitting .364 with 6 doubles, 5 triples, 8 homers and 45 RBI's this year for the Mustangs.
Cooper Johnson, Ole Miss
Drafted in the 6th round as the 172nd overall pick to the Detroit Tigers. Johnson has been one of the best collegiate catchers in the country for all three years he has been at Ole Miss. Johnson was selected on the All-SEC team this year and has helped his Rebels make it to the Super Regionals vs. Arkansas this upcoming weekend. Johnson hit .265 this year with 12 doubles, 7 homers, 30 RBI's and a slugging percentage of .434.
Ashton Creal, John A. Logan CC
Drafted in the 21st round as the 624th overall pick to the Cincinnati Reds. Creal has been one of the best outfielders in all of juco baseball this year, putting up ridiculous numbers. Creal finished this season hitting .395 with 10 doubles, 2 triples, 3 homers, 36 RBI's, 38 stolen bases, an on base percentage of .503 and a slugging percentage of .546.
