Week 1 roundup from our Top Tier Alumni in College Baseball’s Opening Weekend.

It was a great opening weekend for a lot of our alumni in college baseball, with many making their college debuts as freshman.  Here are the top performers from the weekend. 


Dalton Parker
, Purdue
He got his 1st collegiate win coming in relief as a true freshman, throwing 5 innings giving up 1 hit, 0 runs, 2 walks while striking out 2.  Purdue went 2-1 on the weekend versus Texas State.

Mitch Vogrin, Illinois State
He got his 1st win of the year coming in relief going 3 innings giving up 2 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk, with 6 strikeouts vs. Youngstown State.  

Travis Upp, IPFW
He went 2 for 3 in his college debut vs. Alabama A&M with an RBI and then followed it up with a 2 for 4 performance the following day with his 1st collegiate home run and a double with 2 more RBI’s.  IPFW went 2-2 on the weekend versus Alabama A&M with Travis hitting a huge .571 on the weekend.

Connor Riley, USC-Aiken
In his first two starts of the year he went a combined 9.1 innings giving up 4 hits, 2 runs, 6 walks while striking out 14 batters.  USC-Aiken is 8-0 to start the year.

Hank Christie, Northwestern
He got his 1st collegiate start vs. Arizona State going 3.2 innings giving up 2 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts.  Northwestern got swept on the weekend going 0-3.

Liam Carter, Missouri
He got his 1st win of the year vs. Eastern Michigan going 5 innings giving up 4 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and striking out 3 on the day.  Missouri went 3-1 on opening weekend.

Dave Dobrinich, Western Illinois
He got two starts and one pinch hit on the weekend, going 3 for 7 combined, hitting .429 vs. Texas Tech and Mississippi State.  Western Illinois went 0-4 on the weekend.

Brett Newberg, Austin Peay
He got 3 innings of relief on Opening Day to help the Governors get the win.  He gave up 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks while striking out 4.  Austin Peay went 2-1 on the weekend.

Matt Fallon, Xavier
He got the start in all 4 games in the outfield this weekend vs. Troy going 6 for 15, hitting .400 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Xavier went 2-2 on the weekend.

Brady Huffman, Illinois State
He got his 1st collegiate relief appearance going 2 innings giving up 0 hits, 0 runs, while striking out 3.

Quinn Snarksis, St. Joesph’s College
He got the win vs. Tiffin this past weekend going 5 innings, giving up 6 hits, 1 run, 1 walk while striking out 3.  The Pumas went 4-0 on the weekend.

Kolton Rominski, Hillsdale
He got his 1st collegiate start vs. Alderson-Broaddus going 4.1 innings getting a No Decision but only gave up 1 hit, 1 run, 2 walks while striking out 3.  Hillsdale went 1-3 on the weekend.

Kyle Colletta, Northern Kentucky
He went 3 for 6, hitting .500 on the weekend with a double and an RBI.  Northern Kentucky went 1-2 vs. Campbell this weekend.

Sam Cottingham-Beard, Western Illinois
He went 2 innings of relief vs. Mississippi State giving up only 2 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk while striking out 3.

Richard Fordon, Northwestern
He got 2 relief appearances on the weekend vs. Arizona State going a total of 2.1 innings giving up 1 hit, 0 earned runs, 0 walks while striking out 3.

Michael Costanzo, Austin Peay
He got the win vs. Illinois State going 4.2 innings giving up 5 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks while striking out 2.

Sean Hjelle, Kentucky
Got his 1st collegiate start vs. North Carolina going 5 innings scattering out 11 hits, 3 runs, while striking out 2 in the loss 3-1.

Peyton Isaacson, Coastal Carolina
He got in all four games this weekend as the DH, going 3 for 9, hitting .333 with an RBI and two walks.  Coastal went 1-3 this weekend after winning the National Championship only a year ago.

Bobby Pennington, Murray State
He went 1.2 innings in relief vs. Alcorn State giving 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 walk while striking out 2.  Murray State went 4-0 on the weekend.

Zach Lewis, Wichita State
He threw 1 inning of relief vs. Utah Valley giving up 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 walk while striking out 3. The Shockers swept Utah Valley and won all 3 games this weekend.

Jon Savarise, Northern Illinois
He threw 2.1 innings of relief on the weekend giving up 1 hit, 1 run, 1 walk while striking out 2.  The Huskies went 0-2-1 on the weekend.

Matt Sullivan, Chicago State
He went 3 for 12 on the weekend with an RBI helping the Cougars go 1-1-1 on the weeknd.

Cooper Johnson, Mississippi
He got two starts as catcher in his collegiate debut throwing out 5 baserunners and going 1 for 6.  Ole Miss swept Eastern Carolina on the weekend.

Chris Myjack, Butler
He got his 1st collegiate save vs. LaSalle closing out the last 0.2 innings giving up 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 walk while striking out 1.

Zak Deverman, Illinois
He got 1 inning of relief vs. Lamar giving up 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 walk while striking out 1.

Michael Sebby, Illinois State
He got 0.2 innings of relief in his 1st college debut giving up 0 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk while striking out 2.

Matt Burch, Arkansas
Got his 1st collegiate start as DH vs. Miami (OH) this weekend going 1 for 5 with a double.  Arkansas swept Miami (OH) in the 1st weekend of play.

Eric Giltz, SIUE
He went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s for the 1st win for his team this year vs. Seattle.  SIUE ended up going 1-3 on the weekend.

Kevin Sullivan, Middle Tennessee State
He went 1-3 in his one start this weekend with an RBI vs. Georgia Southern.  Middle Tennessee State went 1-2 on the weekend.

Danny Mayer, Pacific
He went 2 for 4 in the the home opener with 2 home runs and 2 RBI’s.  He added one more hit for the weekend but the Pacific went 1-2 vs. San Diego State.

Cal Coughlin, TCU
He got his 1st collegiate relief appearance vs. Penn State going 1 inning giving up 1 hit, 1 run, with 0 walks.  TCU swept Penn State on the weekend.

Frankie Perrone, Eastern Illinois
He went 2 for 8 on the weekend with a double, a home run and 2 RBI’s.  Eastern Illinois lost all three games vs. South Alabama.
