Pro Alumni Recap

It’s been a banner year for pro Top Tier alums. From the MLB Draft to the big leagues, the pro guys, collectively, put together arguably the most impressive year since the club’s inception.

We’ll recap some of the top stories and other nuggets from the 2025 season.

2025 PRO BALL RECAP

Headlining the professional push are three big leaguers who made their debuts in 2025.
Andrew Hoffmann, Bob Seymour and Mitch Farris all got the call and remained on the MLB roster until season’s end.

Bob Seymour hit his first career homer on August 20 against the New York Yankees and played in 26 games with the Rays. Seymour earned the Rays Minor League Player of the Year award.

Andrew Hoffmann made his debut for the Kansas City Royals on May 30 against the Detroit Tigers. Hoffmann was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in a deal that sent Randal Grichuk to the Royals. Hoffmann finished the 2025 season in Arizona pitching in eight games for the DBacks.

Mitch Farris made his MLB debut on September 1 against the Kansas City Royals, throwing five innings of three-hit, one-run ball. Farris earned the win with family and friends in attendance.

Paul DeJong wrapped up his ninth season in the MLB appearing in 57 games with the Washington Nationals. Ryan Borucki played with the Pirates again this season but was released on August 18. He was picked up by the Toronto Blue Jays as a free agent and appeared in four games for the Blue Jays. Sean Hjelle bounced back and forth from the Sacramento River Cats to the San Francisco Giants a number of times until he was ultimately DFA’d on July 30. He is still part of San Francisco’s organization.

It was a busy 2025 for the Summerhill brothers, both of which began their professional careers on opposite sides of the country.

Colin Summerhill, a year after becoming the single-season HR leader at Northern Illinois, broke into pro ball by signing with the Los Angeles Angels. He played on the Low-A Inland Empire squad for 83 games and was promoted to High-A to finish the season, playing 25 games with Tri-City.

Brendan Summerhill went from amateur to professional on July 13 when he was selected No. 42 overall by the Tampa Bay Rays. He was assigned to the Charleston RiverDogs, the Rays Single-A affiliate, where he played 10 games to finish the year.

Aidan Miller has continued to make himself a household name among prospects. He’s the Phillies No. 2 prospect and the No. 47 prospect overall. This year, he played for the Reading Fightin Phils of the Eastern League (Double-A). For the final stretch of the Triple-A season, Miller was promoted to Lehigh Valley. He stole 52 bases in Double-A and added another seven in Triple-A. He was named to the Double-A All-Star team.

Ryan Sloan was named the Seattle Mariners Minor League Pitcher of the Year after his first season of pro ball. He played for the Low-A Modesto Nuts and was briefly called up to the High-A Everett AquaSox, joining fellow Top Tier alum Ben Hernandez.

Trevor Harrison, the 2023 5th-round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Rays, had a solid year between the Low-A Charleston RiverDogs and the High-A Bowling Green Hot Rods. His statline from 2025 is as follows: 8-3 with a 2.78 ERA, 100 K’s in 107 innings.

Nate George, a 2024 draft pick of the Baltimore Orioles, earned the Minor League Player of the Year award. Finishing the season in High-A Aberdeen, George hit .337 on the year with five homers and 42 knocked in, in 323 total at-bats.
