Regional Wrap Ups in NCAA Division 1 College Baseball: Top Tier Alumni Roundup:



Gainesville Regional:

Nick Ficarrotta
, RHP, Florida
Ficarrotta got a relief appearance vs. UConn going 2 strong innings giving up only 1 run on 3 hits and 0 walks while striking out 5. Florida beat Florida A&M, lost to Texas Tech, then beat UConn and beat Texas Tech twice to win the Regional. Florida who is 48-15 overall will move on to face South Carolina in the Super Regional this weekend. 

Cade Kurland, INF, Florida
Kurland collected 4 hits in the Regional with two doubles. Florida advances by beating Texas Tech twice in the the Regional finals. They will face South Carolina in the Super Regional this weekend.

Columbia Regional:

Jack Mahoney, RHP, South Carolina
Mahoney earned a win in the 2nd game of the Regional vs. NC State as he tossed 6 innings giving up 3 runs  off 7 hits and 0 walks while striking out 6. South Carolina beat Central Connecticut State, NC State and Campbell to win the Regional. The Gamecocks who are now 42-19 overall will face Florida in the Super Regional this weekend. 

Winston-Salem Regional:


Cam Minacci, RHP, Wake Forest
Mincacci made one relief appearance vs. Maryland going 1 inning giving up 0 runs off 1 hit and striking out 1. Wake Forest as the #1 overall seed was very impressive beating George Mason twice and Maryland to win the Regional. Wake Forest who is 50-10 overall will face Alabama in the Super Regional this weekend. 


Derek Crum, LHP, Wake Forest 
Crum made one relief appearance in the Regional vs. George Mason throwing one inning giving up 0 runs off 0 hits and 0 walks. Wake Forest won the Regional and are moving onto the Super Regional vs. Alabama this weekend. 

Lexington Regional:

Chase Stanke, C, Kentucky
Stanke got one pinch hit appearance in the Regional going 0 for 1. Kentucky however went beat Ball State, lost to Indiana, beat West Virginia and then beat Indiana twice to win the Regional. Kentucky is 40-19 overall and will face LSU in the Super Regional this weekend. 

Andrew Wilhite, OF, Ball State
Wilhite went 0 for 2 in his one start in the Regional. Ball State lost to Kentucky and West Virginia to finish the year 36-23 overall. Wilhite finished the year hitting .209 with 4 doubles, 4 homers and 30 RBI's. 

Coral Gables Regional:

Renzo Gonzalez, OF, Miami
Gonzalez got one hit in the Regional which was a double. Miami beat Maine and Louisiana but lost to Texas twice to finish the year 42-21 overall. Gonzalez finished the year hitting .322 with 2 doubles, 2 homers and 11 RBI's. 

Clemson Regional:

Blake Wright, INF, Clemson
Wright collected 2 hits in the Regional with a double. Clemson beat Lipscomb but then lost to Tennessee and Charlotte to finish the year 44-19 overall. Wright finished the year hitting .250 with 11 doubles, 8 homers and 45 RBI's. 

Fayetteville Regional:

Jackson Kent, LHP, Arizona
Kent made one relief appearance in the Regional vs. TCU going 3.2 innings giving up 0 earned runs off 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2. Arizona however lost to TCU and Santa Clara to finish the year 33-26 overall. Kent finished the year with a 5.71 ERA in 41 innings of work with 33 strikeouts. 

Brendan Summerhill, OF, Arizona
Summerhill didn't get into the Regional but he finished the year hitting .259 with 3 doubles and 2 homers. 

Nashville Regional:

Nick Laxner, RHP, Eastern Illinois
Laxner didn't get to pitch in the Regional as the Panthers lost to Vanderbilt and Xavier to finish the year 38-21 overall. Laxner finished the year with a 3.21 ERA was 5-1 with 40 strikeouts and 7 walks in 61.2 innings of work.
