Super 60 Preview: Conor Essenburg

Earlier this week we recapped some of the top performances from the Super 60 from a Top Tier perspective.

Today, we’ll turn our attention to this year’s event, and Conor Essenburg, the lone participant from the Top Tier 2025 class.

Essenburg is listed at 6-foot-2, 200 lbs and primarily plays LHP and 1B. He’s in his final season at Lincoln-Way West, where he’s racked up a number of accolades. In 2024 alone, Essenburg was named SWSC All-Conference and All-Region pitcher. He was a part of the Prep Baseball Illinois First Team All-State list, alongside Tier teammate Brayden Zilis.

Essenburg proceeded to have a summer and a fall that confirmed why he’s on draft boards and a coveted recruit that ultimately chose to play collegiately in Lexington, KY. He was a participant of the PG National Showcase in Arizona and posted a 104 exit velo during his BP round.

Shortly after, Essenburg went to Cary, NC. to participate in USA Baseball’s 18U National Team Training Camp, then to the Midwest Scouts Association showcase.

It’s been a busy past 12 months or so for Essenburg, with no signs of slowing down. This Sunday, he’ll workout in front of nearly 100 MLB scouts, crosscheckers and directors.

Here’s a recent report on Essenburg from Prep Baseball Illinois, mentioned in the Player of the Year Watchlist story:

“Essenburg was one of the top two-way players in the state last year, going on to earn a First-Team All-State selection after he hit .388 with 12 doubles, two triples, four home runs, 29 RBIs, 31 runs scored and 38 walks - along with firing 52 innings on the mound with a 10-2 record, 101 strikeouts and a 1.48 ERA. Currently ranked No. 4 in Illinois, Essenburg is also one of the most competitive players in the state, and we expect him to make plenty of noise this coming spring.”

We’ll be in attendance to watch the Super 60 Showcase at The MAX. For coverage, make sure to follow our social channels throughout the entire weekend.
