Opening week roundup of the top performers from our Top Tier Alumni in MiLB.

Kyle Hunter, Bakersfield Blaze (Mariners)
Had 2 relief appearances throwing a total of 4.2 innings, giving up only 1 hit, 0 earned runs, 0 walks, and 5 strikeouts.

Karch Kowalczyk, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (Dodgers)
Had 2 relief appearances throwing a total of 2.1 innings, giving up 2 hits, 0 earned runs, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts.

Ben Browdy, Wash U
Had a huge offensive outburst to help Wash U get 4 wins on the weekend beating Greenville, Fontbonne, and Iowa Wesleyan.  In those 4 games, he went 10-18, hitting .556 with 3 doubles, a triple, 2 home runs and 14 RBI’s.

Max Golembo, Wash U
Had a huge weekend as well at the plate for Wash U going 7-14, hitting .500 with 2 doubles, and 5 RBI’s.

Danny Mayer, Pacific
Went off in the mid-week game vs. Fresno State to help his Tigers get the win going 3 for 6 with an RBI.  He then kept the hitting streak going on the weekend recording a hit in all 3 of the games, going 7 for 20 hitting .350 on the week with a home run, a double and 2 RBI’s, but the Tigers lost 2 out of 3 vs. Saint Mary’s.

Brad Margolin, Wash U
Threw a complete game 9-inning one hitter vs. Fontbonne on the weekend to record the win. He gave up only 1 run, 0 walks, and had 9 strikeouts on the day.

Trey Schramm, Xavier
Went 3.2 innings of relief vs. Morehead State giving up 3 hits, 0 runs, and 1 walk. Xavier lost 2 out of 3 on the weekend.

Jon Savarise, Northern Illinois
Threw 2 innings of relief in mid-week loss to Minnesota, giving up 0 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk and 1 strikeout. He threw another 1.1 innings on the weekend to help Northern Illinois take 2 of 3 from Central Michigan, giving up 2 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks and 1 strikeout.

Tyler Radtke, Iowa
Threw 1 inning of relief in the mid-week game vs. Milwaukee to help the Hawkeyes get the win, giving up 0 runs on 0 hits. He also picked up the win on the weekend, throwing 1.2 innings of relief, giving up 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 walks and 1 strikeout. Iowa took 2 of 3 games from Illinois this past weekend.

Brian Musielak, Concordia-Chicago
Got the win in relief vs. Marian going 3 innings, giving up 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 walks, and 3 strikeouts.

Michael Costanzo, Austin Peay
Improved to 5-2 on the year, getting the win vs. Southeast Missouri going 5 innings, giving up 4 hits, 0 runs, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts.

Charley Gould, William & Mary
Went 2 for 5 with a home run, a double and 3 RBI’s to get the win vs. Virginia Tech in the mid-week. Then he turned around and went 4 for 12, hitting .333 with another home run and RBI on the weekend vs. UNCW.

Ben Dickey, Northwestern
Went 3 for 8, hitting .375 on the weekend vs. Nebraska. The Cats dropped 2 of 3 games vs. Nebraska on the weekend but got their 1st conference win.

Louis Niemerg, Maryville
Went 5 for 13 on the weekend vs. Truman State, hitting .385 with a double, 2 walks and 5 RBI’s. The Saints went on to earn a 2-2 split with Truman State.

Jesse Forestell, Western Michigan
Went 4 for 11, hitting .364 on the weekend with a double and an RBI, but his Broncos got swept by Ball State.

Austin Butts, McHenry CC
Earned his 1st collegiate win going 4 innings, giving up 2 hits, 0 earned runs, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts vs. Harper College.  On the year, McHenry CC is 19-8.

Corey Krupske, Triton CC
Went 2 for 6, hitting .333 on the weekend with a double and an RBI. Triton picked up 2 wins vs. Dupage this weekend and extended their win streak to 8 games.  On the year, Triton is 17-8, with Corey hitting .366, leading his team in hits.

Sean Hjelle, Kentucky
Made 2 appearances on the weekend going 2 total innings, giving up 3 hits, 1 run, 0 walks and 2 strikeouts while collecting a save. On the weekend, the Cats took 2 of 3 from Alabama. On the year, Kentucky is 22-9 and 8-4 in the SEC, ranking them 13th in the nation.

Matt Sullivan, Chicago State
Went 2 for 6 on the weekend, hitting .333 vs. Southern Mississippi.

Bobby Pennington, John A. Logan CC
Threw 6.2 innings in a No-Decision vs. Lake Land.  He gave up 6 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 9 strikeouts. John A. Logan swept the series this weekend, have won 9 straight games and are 29-6 on the year.

Willie Bourbon, Northwestern
Went 3 for 10, hitting .300 on the weekend, with a home run, 4 walks and 2 RBI’s.

Matt Ryan, Butler
Made 2 appearances this past week, going 1.1 innings vs. Dayton, giving up 0 hits, 0 runs, and 0 walks.  On the weekend, he threw another inning vs. Villanova giving up 0 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk and 1 strikeout.

Sam Cottingham-Beard, Western Illinois
Threw 3 innings of relief vs. Bradley in the mid-week game. He gave up 5 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and had 2 strikeouts.

Chris Myjak, Butler
Threw 1 inning of relief vs. Villanova giving up 1 hit, 0 runs, and 0 walks. The Bulldogs lost 2 of 3 vs. Villanova this past weekend.

Mitch Vogrin, Illinois State
Threw 2 innings in relief in the mid-week game vs. Valpo, giving up 2 hits, 1 run, 1 walk with 2 strikeouts. Then he made another relief appearance on the weekend vs. Dallas Baptist going .2 innings giving up 1 hit, 0 runs, and 1 strikeout.

Jason Goldstein, Illinois
Recorded a hit in all 3 games this weekend vs. Iowa, which included another home run and 3 RBI’s. The Fighting Illini lost 2 of 3 to Iowa this past weekend.
