Top Tier Staff Heads to Tampa for TT Roos Tryouts

As we head in to the thick of the winter season here in Chicago, players can be found filling up indoor facilities everywhere, especially at the Top Tier headquarters and training facility inside of the McCook Athletic and Exposition. But for Top Tier’s CEO, VP, and Director of High School Operations the next few days are going to be warmer, much warmer. Over the next three days, Todd Fine, Matt Plante, and Griffin Phelps will be making their way to Tampa, Florida to launch the newest high school division, Top Tier Roos.

Top Tier Roos will be made up of the best players in the southeast region. The trip began this morning with a 7 am flight. Then, later tonight at 7:30 EST there will be a player/parent meeting to introduce the organization to prospective players and families.

“The goal of the meeting is to provide a detailed idea of who Top Tier is, what we stand for, and what we are capable of doing for young men who dream of playing baseball at the highest of levels. We want people to get a feel for our culture, expectations, and our level of commitment to player development and college recruitment.” said High School Director, Griffin Phelps.

Following the Thursday evening meeting is a two day tryout that will also be scouted and written up by the Prep Baseball Report. Friday evening will consist of the offensive player evaluations. At 6 pm the first round of players will make their way to the Clubhouse Athletic Center to showcase their skills. This group will be made up of all 16u players and includes some of the country’s top prospects like Jackson Miller and Hunter Mink. Following the 16u group will be the 15u group which will include many of the players from the Kangaroo Court Baseball Club that won the Perfect Game 14u WWBA this past summer. On Saturday players will show up for their defensive workout and evaluation. These will be followed up with pitcher’s bullpens. Saturday will also be covered by the Prep Baseball Report, taking video and writing up players to be put on their website.

After the final pitch is thrown on Saturday, the Top Tier staff will hop back on a plane and journey back to the snowy landscape in Chicago to get ready for their own practice on Sunday. Check back with us next week for a recap of all the action.
