Week #10 in College Baseball
Top Performances of Top Tier Alumni: Bobby Seymour, Wake Forest continues to stay hot, hitting .438 this past week with a homer and 7 RBI's to help Wake take 2 of 3 from #8 ranked NC State.
Bobby Seymour, Wake Forest
Seymour continues his unbelievable season at the plate for the Demon Deacons. Seymour went 7 for 16 this past week, hitting .438 with a homer, a double and 7 RBI's. Wake Forest beat Liberty in the midweek game and took 2 of 3 vs. #8 ranked NC State over the weekend to improve to 24-17 overall and 11-10 in the ACC. Seymour continues to impress as he is hitting .380 on the year with 11 doubles, 7 homers and 60 RBI's.
Austin Blazevic, SEMO
Blazevic after almost a month off due to a hand injury got back in the lineup and continued to swing a hot stick. Blazevic went 5 for 11, hitting .455 with a homer, a double and 3 RBI's. SEMO lost 2 of 3 vs. Tennessee Tech to fall to 18-23 overall and 7-14 in the OVC. Blazevic is hitting .338 on the year with 5 doubles, a triple, 3 homers and 23 RBI's.
Andrew Hoffmann, Oakland
Hoffmann got a win vs. UIC this past weekend on the mound. Hoffmann went 7 innings vs. the Flames giving up 0 earned runs off 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4. Oakland lost to Toledo in the midweek game and took 2 of 3 from UIC this past weekend to improve to 10-26 overall and 8-10 in the Horizon League. Hoffmann is 2-4 with a 6.80 ERA and has 35 strikeouts in 42.1 innings of work this year.
Cam Redding, Saint Louis
Redding is the hottest hitter for SLU this season as a freshman. Redding went 5 for 12 this past weekend, hitting .417 with 2 doubles. SLU took 2 of 3 from Fordham to improve to 17-21 overall and 6-6 in the A-10. Redding is hitting .307 with 5 doubles, a triple and 16 RBI's on the year.
Keegan Bates, Valpo
Bates got his 1st collegiate start this past week and got his 1st collegiate win vs. Western Michigan. Bates went 6 innings in his win giving up only 1 run off 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 1. Bates also came in relief over the weekend vs. SIUE where he tossed another 2 innings giving up 0 earned runs off 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2. Valpo lost 2 of 3 to SIUE over the weekend and are now 8-26 overall and 1-8 in the MVC. Bates is 1-2 with a 5.66 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 20.2 innings of work.
Ryan Howe, Purdue
Howe collected a hit in all 4 games this past week, going 5 for 13, hitting .385 with a double and 2 RBI's. Purdue beat Butler in the midweek but lost 2 of 3 vs. Rutgers over the weekend to fall to 13-25 overall and 6-8 in the Big Ten.
Matt Burch, Old Dominion
Burch collected multiple hits in each game over the weekend, going 6 for 19, hitting .316 to help ODU beat VCU in the midweek game and take 2 of 3 from FIU over the weekend. ODU is now 24-15 overall and 7-11 in C-USA. Burch is hitting .303 on the year with 9 doubles, 20 RBI's and 14 stolen bases.
Kellen Saver, Illinois
Sarver went 4 for 10, hitting .400 this past week with a triple, a double and 3 RBI's to help the Fighting Illini sweep Penn State. Illinois is now 25-13 overall and 6-6 in the Big Ten. Sarver is hitting .298 on the year with 5 doubles, 2 triples, a homer and 17 RBI's.
Jordan Libman, Illinois State
Libman went 5 for 15 this past week hitting .333 with 2 RBI's to help the Redbirds beat Sacramento State in the midweek and sweep SIU over the weekend to improve to 25-15 overall and 8-1 in the MVC. ISU is in 1st place in the MVC right now. Libman is hitting .322 on the year with 9 doubles, a homer and 24 RBI's.
Neil Lambert, Bowling Green
Lambert collected a hit in every game this past week to put himself on a 8-game hitting streak. Lambert went 4 for 12, hitting .333 with a double and 2 RBI's. Bowling Green lost to Michigan in the midweek game and lost 2 of 3 to Western Michigan to fall to 13-22 overall. Lambert is hitting .345 on the year for the Falcons.
Brett Newberg, Austin Peay
Newberg got a save this past weekend vs. UT-Martin going 2 innings giving up 0 runs off 1 hit while striking out 4. Austin Peay beat SIU in the midweek and took 2 of 3 from UT-Martin over the weekend to improve to 21-17 overall and 13-8 in the OVC. Newberg has 5 saves on the year with a 5.34 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 30.1 innings of work.
Brian Schrimmer, Bradley
Schrimmer made one relief appearance vs. Illinois this past week, going 1.2 innings giving up 0 runs off 1 hit while striking out 1. Bradley beat Illinois in the midweek game and lost 2 of 3 vs. Dallas Baptist over the weekend to fall to 24-12 overall and 4-5 in the MVC. Schrimmer is 2-0 with a save and an ERA of 1.08 with 14 strikeouts in 16.2 innings of work.
Bobby Kametas, Creighton
Kametas made one relief appearance over the weekend and picked up a save vs. Seton Hall. Kametas went 1 inning giving up 0 runs off 0 hits. Creighton swept Seton Hall to improve to 22-8 overall and 5-1 in the Big East. Kametas is 2-0 with 4 saves and an ERA of 2.45 with 16 strikeouts in 14.2 innings of work.
Ryan Hodgett, Bradley
Hodgett made two relief appearances this past week, going a total of 1.2 innings giving up 0 runs off 1 hit while striking out 1. Bradley lost 2 of 3 vs. Dallas Baptist and are now 24-12 overall. Hodgett has a 5.40 ERA on the year.
Jack Carberry, Western Illinois
Carberry got a no-decision in his start but pitched well vs. South Dakota State. Carberry went 6 innings giving up 2 earned runs off 8 hits and 2 walks whiles striking out 6. Western Illinois lost to SIUE in the midweek and lost 2 of 3 vs. South Dakota State to fall to 15-22 overall and 9-9 in the Summit League. Carberry is 5-1 with a 4.66 ERA on the year with 40 strikeouts in 46.1 innings of work.
Brady Miller, Western Michigan
Miller got a no-decision in his start vs. Bowling Green this past week. Miller went 4.2 innings giving up 1 earned run off 4 hits ans 2 walks while striking out 6. Western Michigan took 2 fo 3 from Bowling Green and improved to 13-23 overall and 6-7 in the MAC. Miller is 2-1 with a 3.93 ERA and has 33 strikeouts in 34.1 innings as a freshman.
Mark DiLuia, Maryland
DiLuia mad 3 relief appearances this past week, going a total of 4.1 innings giving up 2 earned runs off 6 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3. Maryland lost to George Mason in the midweek game and lost 2 of 3 vs. Ohio State over the weekend to fall to 19-21 overall and 6-6 in the Big Ten. DiLuia has a 5.06 ERA on the year.
Mitch Vogrin, Illinois State
Vogrin made two relief appearances this past week. Vogrin picked up the win vs. Sacramento State in relief going 3 innings giving up only 1 run off 4 hits while striking out 3. In his second relief appearance he went 2.1 innings vs. SIU giving up 1 run off 2 hits while striking out 2. ISU swept SIU over the weekend and are 25-15 overall and are in 1st place in the MVC. Vogrin has a 3.80 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 21.1 innings of work this year.
Quinn Snarskis, Illinois
Snarskis made one relief appearance this past weekend vs. Penn State going 1 inning giving up 0 runs off 0 hits. Snarskis has been scoreless in his last two outings since being out for about a month. Snarskis has a 8.03 ERA and Illinois is 25-13 overall.
Brenden Heiss, Florida Gulf Coast
Heiss made two relief appearances this past week. Heiss went a total of 2 innings giving up 1 earned run off 3 hits and 4 walks while striking out 5. Heiss has a 9.15 ERA on the year with 28 strikeouts in 20.2 innings of work. His achillies heel has been walks, Heiss has given up 36 free bases in his 20.2 innings of work. Florida Gulf Coast is 27-13 and 9-3 in the Atlantic Sun.
Mike Sebby, Illinois State
Sebby made one relief appearance going 1.1 innings giving up 0 runs off 0 hits. ISU swept SIU over the weekend and are 25-15 overall. Sebby has a 3.86 ERA on the year.
Cooper Johnson, Ole Miss
Johnson collected two big hits this past weekend with a homer vs. Auburn. Ole Miss however lost 2 of 3 vs. Auburn and are now 27-14 overall and 10-8 in the SEC. Johnson is hitting .283 on the year with 8 doubles, 5 homers and 18 RBI's. Johnson has also thrown out 15 base runners this year.
Eric Giltz, SIUE
Giltz collected 3 hits this past week with two triples and 2 RBI's. SIUE beat Western Illinois in the midweek game and took 2 of 3 from Valpo over the weekend to improve to 15-22 overall and 8-10 in the OVC.
Connor Tomasic, Purdue
Tomasic made one relief appearance this past week going 1.1 innings giving up 1 run off 2 hits while striking out 1. Purdue lost 2 of 3 vs. Rutgers and are 13-25 overall and 6-8 in the Big Ten. Tomasic has a 3.24 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 16.2 innings of work this year.
Jesse Forestell, Western Michigan
Forestell collected 3 hits this past week with two doubles. Western Michigan took 2 of 3 from Bowling Green and improved to 13-23 overall and 6-7 in the MAC.
Joe Santoro, Army
Santoro made one relief appearance this past week going 1 inning giving up 0 runs off 0 hits and 3 walks while striking out 1. Army beat Holy Cross in the midweek and won 2 of 3 vs. Navy to improve to 24-16 overall and 11-6 in the Patriot League. Santoro has a 1.80 ERA this year.
Anthony Rios, Lewis
Rios had an unbelievable week at the plate going 12 for 21, hitting .571 on the week with a homer, 6 doubles and 9 RBI's. Lewis beat Rockhurst and UW-Parkside in the midweek and lost 2 of 3 vs. William Jewell and are 21-20 overall. Rios for his offensive efforts was named GLVC Player of the Week. Rios is hitting .315 on the year with 2 homers, 15 doubles and 27 RBI's.
Peyton Isaacson, Saint Leo
Isaacson collected a hit in every game this past weekend and picked up a save on the mound. Isaacson went 5 for 10, hitting .500 with a homer and 4 RBI's and also threw 2 innings in two relief appearances giving up 0 runs off 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2. Saint Leo took 2 of 3 from Florida Tech over the weekend and improved to 20-21 overall. Isaacson is hitting .339 with 11 doubles, a triple, 8 homers and 42 RBI's, and has a 2.70 ERA on the mound this year.
Justin Kelly, Wayne State
Kelly had another outstanding week at the plate, going 7 for 15, hitting .467 with 2 homers, 3 doubles and 5 RBI's. Wayne State won 3 of 4 vs. UW-Parkside and improved to 29-9 overall and 13-6 in the GLIAC. Kelly is hitting .315 with 11 doubles, a triple, 9 homers and 43 RBI's on the year.
Zach Girard, Wayne State
Girard went 3 for 6 over the weekend vs. UW-Parkside. In spot starts Girard is hitting .293 on the year. Wayne State is 29-9 overall.
Louis Niemerg, Maryville
Niemerg went 3 for 10, hitting .300 with a homer, a double and 2 RBI's on the weekend. Maryville swept Rockhurst over the weekend and improved to 22-17 overall and 19-8 in the GLVC. Niemerg is hitting .290 with 10 doubles, a triple, 6 homers and 37 RBI's on the year.
Brian Lyle, University of Chicago
Lyle is on fire at the plate for the Maroons, he went 8 for 21, hitting .381 this past week with a double and 6 RBI's. University of Chicago is 17-6 overall and Lyle is hitting .479 with 21 RBI's on the year.
Elias Kuhns, Union
Kuhns went 4 for 14 this past week with two doubles and an RBI. Union split with Vassar and are now 14-12 overall. Kuhns is hitting .363 on the year with 10 doubles, 5 homers and 18 RBI's.
Ben Rosengard, University of Chicago
Rosengard went 7 for 24 this past week with a double and 4 RBI's. Rosengard is hitting .315 as a freshman and University of Chicago is 17-6 overall on the year.
Travis Hank, MIT
Hank made two relief appearances this past week, going 1.1 innings giving up 0 runs off 2 hits while striking out 2. MIT is 15-13-1 overall and Hank has a 3.60 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 15.1 innings of work.
