Week #11: Division I College Baseball, Top Tier Alumni Roundup:
Player of the Week:
Blake Wright, INF, Clemson
Wright continues to pound the baseball week in and week out for the Tigers as he is now the Player of the Week for our Top Tier Alums for the 3rd time in a 5-week span. Wright hit an impressive .391 this past week after going 9 for 23 with a homer, two doubles and collecting 9 RBI's. Clemson beat Presbyterian and #22 Wofford in the midweek games but got swept by #10 ranked Louisville over the weekend to move to 28-17 overall and 6-14 in the ACC. On the year, Wright is hitting .342 with 9 homers and 31 RBI's.

Bryce Barnett, Xavier
Barnett pitched to absolute perfection this past week vs. some very worthy opponents this past week for Xavier. Barnett made two relief appearances, the first one came in the midweek game vs. #1 ranked Tennessee where he threw two scoreless innings giving up 0 hits and 0 walks while striking out 2. Then on the weekend vs. Creighton, Barnett threw two more scoreless innings giving up only 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 1. Xavier however lost to Tennessee in the midweek game and lost 2 of 3 vs. Creighton over the weekend to fall to 22-23 overall and 6-6 in the Big East.
Ryan Thiesse, Fordham
Thiesse got back into the lineup consistently and he was very impressive as he went 8 for 15, hitting .533 this past week with a double and 4 RBI's. Fordham beat Iona and Fairleigh Dickinson in the midweek games but lost 2 of 3 to St. Joseph's over the weekend to move to 12-29 overall and 5-10 in the A-10.
Gavin Doyle, Western Michigan
Doyle was on a fire at the plate this past week for the Broncos as he went 7 for 11, hitting .636 with a double and 5 RBI's. Western Michigan split with Northern Illinois and are now 15-26 overall and 12-15 in the MAC.
Keaton Rice, Bradley
Rice collected a hit in every game this past week, going 5 for 14, hitting .357 with a homer, two doubles and 2 RBI's. Bradley however struggled as they lost to Illinois in the midweek game and got swept by Evansville over the weekend to fall to 13-24 overall and 5-7 in the MVC.
Kellen Sarver, Illinois
Sarver was really good offensively for the Fighting Illini this past week as he went 5 for 16, hitting .313 with a double and 5 RBI's as Illinois beat Bradley in the midweek game but lost 2 of 3 to Indiana over the weekend to move to 22-19 overall and 12-6 in the Big Ten.
Connor Tomasic, Michigan State
Tomasic earned a win this past weekend in his start vs. Minnesota where he threw really well going 6.1 innings giving up only 1 run off 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out 2. Michigan State beat #12 ranked Notre Dame and IPFW in the midweek games and swept Minnesota over the weekend to improve to 21-21 overall and 6-9 in the Big Ten.
Noah Berghammer, Minnesota
Berghammer finally got in the lineup regularly for the Gophers this past week and he did really well for himself going 5 for 13, hitting .384 with an RBI. Minnesota however lost to South Dakota State and beat St. Thomas in the midweek games and got swept by Michigan State over the weekend to fall to 12-30 overall and 2-13 in the Big Ten.
Chase Centala, UCF
Centala threw really well in relief for the Golden Knights this past weekend vs. Tulane where he made two appearances throwing a total of 2.1 innings giving up 0 runs off 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 3 and earning a save. UCF won 2 of 3 vs. Tulane and improved to 26-17 overall and 10-5 in the AAC.
Chase Stanke, Minnesota
Stanke collected hits in all his games played this past week, going 5 for 15, hitting .333 with 3 doubles and 3 RBI's. Minnesota however continues to struggle as the got swept by Michigan State over the weekend and fell to 12-30 overall and 2-13 in the Big Ten.
Nick Ficarrotta, Florida
Ficarrotta threw really well this past weekend in his one relief appearance vs. Kentucky where he went 2.1 innings giving up 0 runs off 3 hits and 0 walks while striking out 3. Florida won 2 of 3 games vs. Kentucky over the weekend and improved to 25-18 overall and 8-13 in the SEC.
Tanner Mink, USF
Mink made one relief appearance this weekend vs. Houston going 2 scoreless innings giving up only 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 1. USF got swept by Houston over the weekend and slipped to 23-20 overall and 4-11 in the AAC.
Jeremy Gaines, Texas Southern
Gaines continues to swing a hot stick as he hit .300 this past weekend with a homer, a triple and collected 2 more RBI's. Texas Southern swept Arkansas Pine-Bluff and improved to 21-20 overall and 12-9 in the SWAC.
Renzo Gonzalez, Miami
Gonzalez went 3 for 5 this past week with a double and an RBI for the 3rd ranked Miami Hurricanes. Miami however lost to Stetson in the midweek and lost 2 of 3 to Georgia Tech and are 32-12 overall and 17-7 in the ACC.
Dakota Kotowski, Missouri State
Kotowski collected 4 more hits this past week with another bomb homer and 2 RBI's. Missouri State beat Missouri and Saint Louis in the midweek games and took 2 of 3 from Indiana State over the weekend to improve to 21-19 overall and 5-7 in the MVC.
Tony Livermore, Northwestern
Livermore collected 4 hits this past week as the Wildcats beat Milwaukee in the midweek game but lost 2 of 3 to 23rd ranked Maryland. Northwestern is now 20-19 overall and 7-7 in the Big Ten.
Ray Sass, Brown
Sass collected hits in every game this past weekend with an RBI. Brown swept Princeton and improved to 11-22 overall and 6-12 in the Ivy League.
Antonio Brown, Mercer
Brown collected 4 hits this past week with two doubles and an RBI. Mercer beat Jacksonville State in the midweek game and won 2 of 3 vs. ETSU over the weekend to improve to 35-9 overall and 9-3 in the SOCON.
Stephen Hill, Liberty
Hill collected 4 hits this past week as Liberty lost to North Carolina in the midweek game and won 2 of 3 vs. Stetson over the weekend to move to 28-14 overall and 14-7 in the ASUN.
Anthony Mangano, Iowa
Mangano went 1 for 2 while pinch-hitting vs. Nebraska this past weekend. Iowa won 2 of 3 vs. Nebraska to improve to 26-14 overall and 10-5 in the Big Ten.
Michael Oh, Charlotte
Oh made two relief appearances this past week throwing a total of 3 innings giving up 3 runs off 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5. Charlotte beat UNC-Asheville and North Carolina A&T in the midweek games along with sweeping the series over Marshall over the weekend. Charlotte is 28-16 overall and 11-10 in C-USA.
