Major League Baseball Top Performances in Week #4:

Rob Scahill (Class of 2005), Milwaukee Brewers

Scahill just got called up to the Big Leagues for the Milwaukee Brewers this past week after posting a 1.04 ERA in 8.2 innings in Triple A. This will be Scahill’s 6th stint in the Big Leagues since 1st being called up in 2012 with the Rockies.

Tanner Roark (Class of 2005), Washington Nationals
Roark got one start in this past week vs. the Colorado Rockies. He got another win under his belt, going 5 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits, 4 walks while striking out 4. The win moves Roark to 3-0 on the year and helps the Nationals to a 17-9 overall record, which is best in the MLB.

Minor League Baseball Top Performances in Week #4:

Paul DeJong (Class of 2011), Memphis Redbirds (Triple A, Cardinals)

DeJong had a huge offensive week, going 6 for 14, hitting .429 with 3 home runs, 2 doubles, and 4 RBI’s. He is now hitting .286 on the year in Triple A and is said to be the next guy in line to being called up to the Big Leagues.

Jason Goldstein (Class of 2012), Beloit Snappers (Low A, Athletics)
Goldstein played in two games this past week, going 3 for 7 with a double and 2 RBI’s. He is now hitting .278 on the year.

Karch Kowalczyk (Class of 2009), Tulsa Drillers (Double A, Dodgers)
Kowalczyk made two appearances this past week going 3 innings in his first one giving up 0 runs on 4 hits, 1 walk while striking out 2. In his 2nd outing he didn’t fair as well as he went 1 inning giving up 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 1. On the year he has a 2.19 ERA.

Mike Martin (Class of 2011), Beloit Snappers (Low A, Athletics)
Martin just got back off the Disabled-List and made a direct impact as he went 2 for 3 in his first game back with a double and an RBI. He is now hitting .250 on the year.

Tyler Ladendorf (Class of 2006), Charlotte Knights (Triple A, White Sox)
Ladendorf had a solid week this past week going 3 for 12 and adding to his utility card by playing some more shortstop this past week.

Jeremy Rhoades (Class of 2011), Inland Empire 66ers (High A, Angels)
Rhoades got his 2nd save of the year in his 1st outing this past week going 2 innings giving up 0 runs on 1 hit while striking out 4. However, his second outing of the week didn’t go as well as he got the loss in relief going 2 innings giving up 5 runs on 8 hits while striking out 2. He is pitching at 7.24 ERA on the year.

Kyle Hunter (Class of 2008), Arkansas Travelers (Double A, Mariners)
Hunter made two appearances in relief this past week. In his 1st outing he went 1 inning giving up 0 runs on 0 hits while striking out 1. In his 2nd outing he gave up 2 runs on 4 hits, 2 walks while striking out 2. He currently has a 5.40 ERA on the year.

Ryan Borucki (Class of 2012), Dunedin Blue Jays (High A, Blue Jays)
Borucki got another No-Decision on his start going 4 innings giving up 3 earned runs on 6 hits, 1 walk while striking out 2. He currently has a 6.52 ERA on the year.

Week #11 Top Tier Alumni Roundup: Top Performances in College Baseball

Sean Hjelle (Class of 2015), Kentucky

Hjelle earned his 7th win of the season, defeating South Carolina this past weekend. In his outing, he went 6 innings giving up 0 runs on only 3 hits, 1 walk while striking out 6. The Wildcats took 2 of 3 from South Carolina on the weekend and also beat Xavier during the mid-week. Kentucky is now 31-14 on the year and 14-7 in the SEC.

Frankie Perrone (Class of 2014), Eastern Illinois
Perrone had a hit in every game this past week, going 8 for 17, hitting a staggering .471 this past week. This huge offensive week included him hitting 3 doubles, a triple, a home run and collecting 5 RBI’s. Eastern Illinois beat Indiana State during the mid-week and lost to Saint Louis, then they took 2 of 3 from Morehead State on the weekend.

Connor Riley (Class of 2013), USC-Aiken
Riley continues to impress on the mound as he won the Willie Jewell’s USC-Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the week for his performance. He got the win to improve to 6-2 on the year by going 5 innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 11. This is the 6th game this season that Riley has struck out at least 11 batters in his outing. USC-Aiken in now 36-11 on the year and 17-7 in the conference.

Will Kincanon (Class of 2014), Indiana State
Kincanon had a huge performance on the mound beating Bradley this past weekend, moving him to 4-4 on the year. He went 8 innings in his start holding the Braves to only 1 run on 5 hits, 2 walks while striking out 9. Indiana State swept Bradley in all three games this past weekend.

Dalton Parker (Class of 2016), Purdue
Parker got his 6th save of the year vs. Saint Louis. He went 2 innings to earn the save giving up 2 runs on 2 hits while striking out 3. Parker eclipsed Doug Kelly’s Purdue Freshman Record that stood since 1993 for most saves by a Freshman in a year. Purdue improved to 25-18 overall and 9-6 in the Big Ten.

Cooper Johnson (Class of 2016), Mississippi
Johnson collected hits in every game this past week for the Rebels. He went 5 for 15, hitting .333 with two doubles and 2 RBI’s. The Rebels won 2 of 3 vs. #10 ranked Arkansas this past weekend. Ole Miss is now 27-17 overall and 11-10 in the SEC.

Brian Musielak (Class of 2014), Concordia-Chicago
Musielak got the win in relief this past weekend vs. Benedictine. He went 5 innings giving up 0 runs on 3 hits, 2 walks while striking out 5. They took both games from Benedictine this past weekend. Concordia-Chicago is now 24-11 and 16-2 in the conference.

Zach Lewis (Class of 2013), Wichita State
Lewis got the win vs. Illinois State this past weekend, improving his record to 3-3 on the year. Lewis went 6 innings giving up only 1 run on 3 hits, 3 walks while striking out 3.

Jacob Nagel (Class of 2016), Bellarmine
Nagel earned his 1st collegiate win going 6 innings vs. Lewis giving up 1 earned run on 5 hits, 2 walks while striking out 2. They won all 4 games vs. Lewis this past weekend and improve to 31-15 overall and 18-6 in the conference.

Neil Lambert (Class of 2015), Triton CC
Lambert collected a hit in every game he played in this past week, going 5 for 12, hitting an impressive .417.

Jake Huber (Class of 2016), Augustana
Huber got in three times this past week, going 4 for 8, hitting .500 with two doubles and 3 RBI’s. This helped Augustana to take both games from Benedictine on the weekend.

Peyton Isaacson (Class of 2015), Coastal Carolina
Isaacson went 4 for 12 this past week, hitting .333 with a double and 2 RBI’s. His steady offensive output helped Coastal take 2 of 3 from Troy and one from the Citadel in the mid-week. Coastal is now 27-16-1 on the year.

Brett Newberg (Class of 2015), Austin Peay
Newberg earned a save this past weekend and helped the offense by hitting a home run, and collecting 4 RBI’s. In his save, he went 2 innings giving up 0 runs on 1 hit. Austin Peay took 2 of 3 from UT-Martin this past weekend.

Hank Christie (Class of 2016), Northwestern
Christie got a No-Decision in the game that they won vs. Michigan State this past weekend. He went 5.1 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits, 2 walks while striking out 4.

Danny Mayer (Class of 2013), Pacific
Mayer continues to put up big power numbers by going 4 for 13 this past week, hitting .308 with a homerun, a double, and 5 RBI’s. Pacific won 2 of 3 vs. Portland on the weekend.

TJ Byrd (Class of 2016), Rend Lake CC
Byrd had a good offensive weekend going 4 for 10 hitting .400 with two doubles and 4 RBI’s. Rend Lake beat Southeastern Illinois CC twice and Wabash Valley CC once this past weekend.

Michael Sebby (Class of 2016), Illinois State
Sebby made two relief appearances this past weekend. He went a total of 2 innings in his two appearances giving up 0 runs on 3 hits while striking out 3. Illinois State lost all 3 games vs. Wichita State this past weekend and their mid-week game vs. Western Illinois.

Sam Cottingham-Beard (Class of 2014), Western Illinois
Cottingham-Beard made one relief appearance this past week vs. Illinois State going 1.1 innings giving up 0 runs on 1 hit while striking out 2.  Western Illinois also beat Nebraska-Omaha once and the rest of the weekend was cancelled due to rain.

Zak Devermann (Class of 2015), Illinois
Devermann made two relief appearances this past week. He threw a total of 1.2 innings giving up 0 runs on 0 hits while striking out 1. Illinois went on to win 2 of 3 from Minnesota this past weekend.

Mitch Vogrin (Class of 2014), Illinois State
Vogrin made two appearances this past week. He went a total of 1.2 innings giving up 0 runs on 4 hits, 1 walk while striking out 2.

Dave Dobrinich (Class of 2014), Western Illinois
Dobrinich got in and went 2 for 2 with an RBI vs. Illinois State in the mid-week game to help the Leathernecks get the win.

Jack Landwehr (Class of 2012), Illinois State
Landwehr made one relief appearance this past weekend, where he went 3 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 3.

Zac Taylor (Class of 2015), Triton CC
Taylor collected a hit in every game he played in this past week, going 3 for 10, hitting .300 with a double and 2 RBI’s.

Michael Shereyk (Class of 2015), SIUE
Shereyk made two relief appearances this past weekend. He threw a total of 1.2 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits, 1 walk while striking out 1. SIUE lost 2 of 3 vs. Pittsburgh this past weekend.
