Week #12: NCAA Division I College Baseball, Top Tier Alumni Roundup
This week saw the Friday night starter for Illinois, Andrew Hoffmann absolutely deal as he picked up a win vs. Maryland, going 7.2 innings giving up 0 runs off only 3 hits and 0 walks while striking out 12. Bobby Seymour from Wake Forest continues to hit nukes into the night for the Demon Deacons, as he went 4 for 10, with 3 more homers and 5 RBI's this past weekend. Kevin Davis collected his 8th save of the year for USC-Upstate while holding a an ERA under 1 at 0.81 on the year. Here are the rest of the highlights from Week 12 from all of our Top Tier alums:
Division I Player of the Week:
Andrew Hoffmann, RHP, Illinois
Hoffmann was lights out in his Friday night start vs. Maryland this past weekend. Hoffmann picked up the win going 7.2 scoreless innings off only 3 hits and 0 walks while striking out 12. Illinois lost 2 of 3 to the Terps and fall to 16-18 overall. Hoffmann is leading the Fighting Illini pitching staff with a 3.27 ERA and has 51 strikeouts in 44 innings of work this year.
The Best of the Rest for Week #12:
Bobby Seymour, 1B, Wake Forest
Seymour continues to show off his light tower power as he had 3 more homeruns this past weekend. Seymour went 4 for 10 in 3 games collecting another 5 RBI's for the Demon Deacons as they lost to Elon and beat Belmont twice to move to 17-23 overall and 7-19 in the ACC. Seymour is leading the team in multiple offensive categories as he is hitting .299 on the year with 10 doubles, 18 homers and 51 RBI's, with a slugging percentage of .714. Seymour is currently tied for 2nd place in the NCAA Division 1 homerun race only 2 behind the leader.
Kevin Davis, RHP, USC-Upstate
Davis earned his 8th save of the year this past weekend vs. High Point where he went 1 scoreless inning off 0 hits and walk while striking out 1. USC-Upstate swept High Point and improved to an impressive 33-10 overall and 24-9 in the Big South. Davis leads the team in ERA with a 0.81 ERA in 22.1 innings pitched with 35 strikeouts.
Jordan Libman, OF, Illinois State
Libman continues to swing hot stick as he went 5 for 14, hitting .357 this past weekend vs. Dallas Baptist with a triple and double. ISU got swept by Dallas Baptist and fall to 18-29 overall and 8-12 in the MVC. Libman is hitting .307 on the year with 7 doubles, 2 triples, 4 homers and 24 RBI's.
Tanner Mink, RHP, South Florida
Mink made two relief appearances this past weekend and picked up the save in the finale vs. Memphis. In total Mink went 1.2 innings giving up 0 runs off 0 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2. South Florida took 3 of 4 games from Memphis and improved to 20-22 overall and 10-10 in the AAC.
Zach Fricke, RHP, Valpo
Fricke got the start in the series finale vs. Bradley where he went 3.1 innings giving up 1 run off 0 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6. Valpo split with Bradley and are now 13-25 overall and 8-12 in the MVC.
Alex Bryant, RHP, Holy Cross
Bryant picked up a win in relief in the series finale vs. Army this past weekend where he went 2.1 innings giving up 0 runs off 4 hits and 0 walks while striking out 1. Holy Cross lost 3 of 4 to Army and fell to 10-20 overall and 9-15 in the Patriot League. Bryant is 4-2 with a 3.86 ERA in 25.2 innings pitched with 32 strikeouts on the year.
Sean Sinisko, LHP, Illinois State
Sinisko took the loss in the series finale vs. Dallas Baptist after throwing very well through 7 innings. In his 7 innings pitched he gave up only 2 earned runs off 7 hits and 0 walks while striking out 4. ISU got swept by Dallas Baptist and are now 18-29 overall on the year.
Dawson Place, RHP, High Point
Place made one appearance in relief vs. USC-Upstate this past weekend tossing 4.2 innings giving up only 1 run off 4 hits and 0 walks while striking out 2. High Point got swept and fell to 14-24 overall and 12-18 in the Big South.
Cam Minacci, RHP, Wake Forest
Minacci made one relief appearance this past weekend going 1 inning giving up 0 runs off 0 hits and 0 walks while striking out 2. Wake Forest lost to Elon and beat Belmont twice to improve to 17-23 overall on the year.
Jacob Rosenkranz, RHP, Valpo
Rosenkranz made one relief appearance this past weekend vs. Bradley going 2 innings giving up 0 runs off only 1 hit and 0 walks while striking out 2. Valpo split with Bradley and are 13-25 overall on the year.
Cam Redding, C, Saint Louis
Redding collected 4 hits this past weekend vs. VCU with a double and 2 RBI's. Saint Louis got swept by VCU and are now 15-28 overall and 5-7 in the Atlantic-10.
Jacob Nagel, RHP, Bellarmine
Nagel made a start vs. Lipscomb this past weekend going 5.2 innings giving up 2 runs off 6 hits and 4 walks while striking out 6. Bellarmine lost 2 of 3 to Lipscomb and fell to 13-30 overall and 8-16 in the ASun.
Dakota Kotowski, OF, Missouri State
Kotowski collected 3 hits this past weekend vs. Indiana State, but the bears lost 3 of 4 to fall to 16-19 overall and 6-10 in the MVC.
Blake Wright, INF, Clemson
Wright got to get into the series finale vs. Georgia Tech this past weekend where he went 1 for 2. Clemson got swept by Georgia Tech and fell to 22-21 overall and 15-15 in the ACC.
Jack Carberry, RHP, Western Illinois
Carberry earned a save in the opening game this past weekend vs. Oral Roberts as he threw 2 innings giving up 2 runs off 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4. Western Illinois lost 3 of 4 to ORU and fell to 10-26 overall on the year.
