Cal Coughlin, TCU
Coughlin was dominate this past weekend out of the bullpen for the Horned Frogs. Coughlin made 4 appearances in 5 games this past week to help TCU win all 5 games, including a sweep over Lamar on the weekend. Coughlin went a total of 4.1 innings in his 4 appearances, collecting 2 saves and giving up only 1 run off 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3. TCU beat both Abilene Christian and Dallas Baptist in the midweek and swept Lamar over the weekend to improve to 27-18 overall and 8-9 in the Big 12. Coughlin on the year has a 1.38 ERA with a 2-1 record, including 2 saves and 19 strikeouts in 26 innings of work.
Justin Kelly, Wayne State
Kelly had a huge weekend offensively going 8 for 12, hitting .667 with two home runs, a double and 5 RBI’s to help Wayne State take 3 of 4 from Grand Valley State. Wayne State finished the regular season with a 27-19 overall record and will take on Ashland in the first round of the GLIAC Tournament this week. Kelly finished the regular season with a .305 average, 12 doubles, 2 triples, 11 homeruns, 46 RBI’s and a .604 slugging %.
Jordan Libman, Illinois State
Libman went 4 for 9, hitting .444 this past week for the Redbirds. Libman smashed his 1st collegiate home run vs. Bradley and he collected 3 RBI’s this past week. Illinois State beat Milwaukee and Northern Illinois in the mid-week games but lost 2 of 3 vs. Bradley over the weekend. ISU is now 18-26 overall and 5-10 in the MVC.
Matt Burch, Wabash Valley CC
Burch collected a hit in all 7 games he played in this past week, going 10-22 hitting .455. Wabash Valley went 5-2 this past week and finished the regular season with a 41-9-1 overall record. Wabash Valley will take on Southeastern Illinois CC in the Region XXIV Tournament this week. Burch finished the regular season with a .371 batting average, a .480 on base %, a .539 slugging %, 19 doubles, 1 triple, 3 homeruns, and 35 RBI’s.
Marshawn Taylor, Grambling State
Taylor collected a hit in every game this past week going 7 for 16 hitting .438 with a double and 2 RBI’s. However with another offensive outburst by Taylor wasn’t enough as Grambling lost 2 of 3 over the weekend vs. Texas Southern and slipped to 23-22 overall and 14-10 in the SWAC.
Keaton Rice, Bradley
Rice continues to swing a hot bat as a freshman, going 5 for 12 hitting .417 with a triple and 2 RBI’s to help Bradley take 2 of 3 from the Redbirds over the weekend. Bradley improves to 28-12 overall and 10-5 in the MVC. Rice on the year is leading the Braves in batting average hitting .349 on the year.
Michael Costanzo, Austin Peay
Costanzo picked up his 8th win of the year vs. SIUE this past weekend. Costanzo went 6 innings giving up 0 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out 7. Austin Peay beat Western Kentucky in the mid-week and took 2 of 3 from SIUE over the weekend to improve to 28-20 overall and 17-10 in the OVC. Costanzo owns a 4.07 ERA on the year with 86 strikeouts in 73 innings of work as the Governors Friday night starter.
Ben Dickey, Northwestern
Dickey had a great week offensively this past week, going 6 for 15, hitting .400 with 2 RBI’s. Northwestern however got swept by Purdue over the weekend and are now 14-28 overall and 4-17 in the Big Ten.
Ryan Dunne, Western Illinois
Dunne got a win over the weekend vs. IPFW going 8 innings in his start giving up only 1 run on 8 hits and 3 walks while striking out 9. On the year, Dunne has 75 strikeouts in 64 innings of work. Western Illinois swept IPFW over the weekend and improved to 13-25 overall and 10-10 in the Summit.
Quinn Snarskis, Illinois
Snarskis picked up the win vs. Ohio State this past weekend going 7 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out 1. Snarskis improved to 5-1 on the year as a starter and owns a 3.21 ERA. Illinois beat Southern Illinois in the mid-week but lost 2 of 3 vs. Ohio State on the weekend to fall to 27-16 overall and 11-7 in the Big Ten.
Jimmy Burnette, Illinois
Burnette made two relief appearances this past week. Burnette went a total of 2 innings giving up 0 runs on 0 hits while striking out 3. Illinois beat Southern Illinois in the mid-week and lost 2 of 3 vs. Ohio State over the weekend.
Ashton Creal, John A. Logan CC
Creal went 5 for 11 hitting .455 this past week with two doubles and 4 RBI’s. John A. Logan is now 36-14 overall on the year.
Brian Schrimmer, Bradley
Schrimmer picked up his 2nd save of the year vs. Illinois State over the weekend going 1 inning giving up 0 runs on 0 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2. Bradley took 2 of 3 from the Redbirds and improved to 28-12 overall. Schrimmer on the year has a 0.93 ERA with 31 strikeouts in 19.1 innings of work.
Kevin Sullivan, Middle Tennessee State
Sullivan went 3 for 8, hitting .375 with a double this past weekend vs. Louisiana Tech. MTSU took 2 of 3 vs. LA Tech and improved to 24-23-1 overall and 14-13-1 in C-USA.
Anthony Rios, Lewis
Rios went 4 for 10 hitting .400 this past weekend vs. #4 ranked UIS. Lewis got swept over the weekend and finished the 2018 season with a 19-27-1 overall record. Rios finished the year with .245 batting average with 5 doubles, 2 homeruns and 14 RBI’s.
Jeremy Gaines, John A. Logan CC
Gaines went 6 for 17, hitting .353 with a triple and 2 RBI’s this past week. John A. Logan continues to stay hot and is now 36-14 overall on the year.
Jesse Forestell, Western Michigan
Forestell went 6 for 19 this past week, hitting .316 with a double and 3 RBI’s. Western Michigan however lost 2 of 3 vs. Miami (OH) this past weekend and beat Northwestern and lost to Notre Dame in the mid-week to fall to 20-21 overall and 9-10 in the MAC.
Travis Upp, IPFW
Upp went 3 for 9 this past weekend vs. Western Illinois, however IPFW got swept and fell to 10-30 overall and 4-12 in the Summit. Upp is 2nd on the team in average, hitting .305 on the year and is 1st on the team in RBI’s with 21.
Louis Niemerg, Maryville
Niemerg collected a hit in every game this past weekend going 3 for 8 hitting .375 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s along with picking up a win on the mound vs. William Jewell College. Niemerg picked a win in the 3rd game of the series going 5.1 innings giving up 1 earned run on 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2. Maryville won all four games over the weekend to improve to 27-23 overall. Niemerg on the year is 4-3 on the mound with a 4.78 ERA, and at the plate he is leading his team in average hitting .388 with 10 doubles, 2 triples, 5 homeruns and 27 RBI’s. Maryville will take on Bellarmine in the opening rounds of the GLVC tournament this week.
Brenden Heiss, John A. Logan CC
Heiss moved to 7-1 on the year by picking up another win this past weekend tossing 4 innings giving up 0 runs on 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4. John A. Logan is now 36-14 overall on the year.
Matt Kann, Franklin & Marshall
Kann went 2 for 6 hitting .333 in the Centennial Conference Tournament this past weekend. Franklin & Marshall ended up getting eliminated by Johns Hopkins and finished the year 19-18-2 overall. Kann as a freshman finished the year hitting .296 with 6 doubles, 2 triples and 19 RBI’s.
Michael Sebby, Illinois State
Sebby made two relief appearances this past week. In his 1st outing vs. Milwaukee in the mid-week, he picked up the win going 2 innings giving up 0 runs on 0 hits while striking out 4. In his 2nd outing vs. Bradley, he went 2.1 innings giving up 0 runs on 0 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3. ISU lost 2 of 3 vs. Bradley over the weekend, but Sebby continues to marvel out of the bullpen as he holds a 2.95 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 18.1 innings.
Bobby Kametas, Creighton
Kametas made one appearance in relief this past weekend vs. Seton Hall. Kametas went 2.2 innings giving up 0 runs on 2 hits while striking out 4. Creighton lost 2 of 3 vs. Seton Hall over the weekend to fall to 26-15 overall and 5-9 in the Big East.
Mark DiLuia, Maryland
DiLuia picked up a win over the weekend vs. Nebraska going 6 innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks while striking out 4. The game DiLuia pitched was the only win the Terps picked up this past weekend vs. Nebraska. Maryland is now 20-27 overall and 6-11 in the Big Ten.
Kevin Coppin, Concordia-Chicago
Coppin went 4 for 10 hitting .400 this past week with a homerun, a triple and a double. Concordia-Chicago split with Benedictine and beat North Central over the week and improved to 29-10 overall.
Ben Zordani, Saint Xavier
Zordani went 3 for 10 this past week in the CCAC Tournament. Saint Xavier beat Roosevelt and lost to Judson and are play Saint Francis this week to stay in the tournament. Saint Xavier is currently 24-28 overall and Zordani is hitting .327 with 11 doubles on the year.
Dalton Parker, Purdue
Parker made one relief appearance this past weekend vs. Northwestern going 2.1 innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits and 1 walk. Purdue swept Northwestern over the weekend and have now won 11 straight games and are 27-16 overall and 13-4 in the Big Ten.
Wyatt Trautwein, UIC
Trautwein picked up his 2nd win of the year vs. University of Chicago in the mid-week game. Trautwein went 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4. UIC, however lost 2 of 3 on the weekend vs. Wright State and are now 25-16 overall and 12-9 in the Horizon.
Kolton Rominski, Hillsdale
Rominski made two appearances this past week to finish up the regular season. Rominski went a total of 5.2 innings giving up 0 earned runs on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7. Hillsdale beat Northwood in the mid-week and lost 2 of 3 to Walsh to finish 22-27 overall and 17-10 in the conferenced. Rominski finished the regular season with a 4-3 record and a 4.29 ERA. Hillsdale will take on Trevecca Nazarene in the 1st round of the G-MAC Tournament this week.
Gunnar Haskins, Augustana
Haskins collected 5 hits this past week with 2 big homeruns, a double and 9 RBI’s. Augustana beat Millikin in the mid-week and took 2 of 3 vs. Carroll over the weekend. Augustana finished the regular season with a 25-14 overall record and will take on Carthage in the first round of the CCIW Tournament this week.
Collin Clayton, John A. Logan CC
Clayton went 6 for 20 hitting .300 this past week with 5 RBI’s. John A. Logan CC is now 36-14 overall and looking to make a deep playoff run.
Brett Newberg, Austin Peay
Newberg made 3 appearances out of the bullpen this past week. In his 1st two appearances, Newberg did great going 2.2 innings total giving up 0 runs on only 1 hit while striking out 3. In his last outing where they lost to SIUE in the series finale, Newberg went 4.2 innings giving up 4 runs on 8 hits while striking out 3. Austin Peay won 2 of 3 vs. SIUE and improved to 28-20 overall and 17-10 in the OVC. Newberg on the year is 3-2 with 5 saves and an ERA of 3.79.
Luke Johnson, Bucknell
Johnson finished the regular season off, leading his team in average at .305 and RBI’s with 24 on the year. Johnson in his senior campaign has helped the Bison get the #3 seed in the Patriot League playoffs, where they will face off against #2 Army this upcoming weekend. The Bison finished the season with a 16-25-1 overall record and a 13-11-1 record in the Patriot League.
Sam Cottingham-Beard, Western Illinois
Cottingham-Beard made one relief appearance this past weekend vs. IPFW, going 1 inning giving up 0 runs on 0 hits. Western Illinois swept IPFW over the weekend and improved to 13-25 overall and 10-10 in the Summit.
Peyton Isaacson, Saint Leo
Isaacson collected a hit in all three games this past week and picked up 2 saves. In total Isaacson threw 2 innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3. Saint Leo beat Eckerd in the mid-week and took 2 of 3 from Florida Southern over the weekend to improve to 39-10 overall and 19-8 in the SSC. On the year, Isaacson is hitting .343 with 11 homeruns, 17 doubles, 45 RBI’s and a slugging % of .634. On the mound, Isaacson has a 4.58 ERA with 14 saves and 20 strikeouts in 17.2 innings of work.
Zach Taylor, Roosevelt
Taylor collected a hit in all three games they played last week with a double and 6 RBI’s. This offensive surge helped the Lakers stay alive in the CCAC playoffs. Roosevelt is currently 26-23 overall.
Marius Balandis, Iowa Western CC
Balandis made one appearance out of the bullpen this past weekend going 1 inning giving up 0 runs on 0 hits while striking out 1. Iowa Western CC swept Southwestern CC over the weekend and improved to 47-5 overall to finish the year. Balandis finished the regular season with a 6-1 record and a 3.47 ERA.
Cooper Johnson, Ole Miss
Johnson went 1 for 5 this past week for the #4 ranked Rebels. However, Ole Miss lost 2 of 3 vs. South Carolina over the weekend and fell to 36-13 overall and 13-11 in the SEC.
Jacob Nagel, Bellarmine
Bellarmine didn’t play this past weekend but are getting ready to take on Maryville in the GLVC Championships this week. They finished the regular season with a 34-15 overall record and a 16-8 conference record. Nagel was 5-3 on the year with a 4.44 ERA.
