MLB Roundup:
Tanner Roark, Washington Nationals
Roark made one start this past week vs. the Phillies pitching well again but also picking up another loss and slipping him to 3-9 overall. Roark went 6 innings giving up only 2 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks while striking out 5. Roark has a 4.10 ERA and the Nationals have slipped to 42-42 overall and are 3rd in the NL East.
Ryan Borucki, Toronto Blue Jays
Borucki made his MLB Debut vs. the Houston Astros. Borucki took the loss but threw very well as he went 6 innings giving up only 2 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks while striking out 3. Borucki with his great efforts in his 1st Big League start, got another on later in the week vs. the Detroit Tigers. Borucki impressed again as he went 7 innings giving up only 2 runs again on 6 hits while striking out 8. Borucki owns a 2.77 ERA for the Blue Jays and has 11 strikeouts in 13 innings of work.
Paul DeJong, St. Louis Cardinals
DeJong has made 3 rehab starts for the Memphis Redbirds this past week, where he went 2 for 9 with a double. The Cardinals are excited for the return of DeJong back to the Cardinals lineup which are now 3rd in the NL Central.
MiLB Roundup:
Rob Scahill, Charlotte Knights (Affiliate of Chicago White Sox) Triple A
Scahill made two relief appearances this past week, going a total of 2 innings giving up 0 runs on 0 hits while striking out 3. Scahill owns a 4.37 ERA and has 44 strikeouts in 35 innings of work at the Triple A level.
Jeremy Rhoades, Salt Lake Bees (Affiliate of Los Angeles Angels) Triple A
Rhoades made three relief appearances this past week going a total of 3.2 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2. Rhoades owns a 4.56 ERA at the Triple A level and has 20 strikeouts in 23.2 innings of work.
Tyler Ladendorf, Jackson Generals (Affiliate of Arizona Diamondbacks) Double A
Ladendorf only collected one hit this past week with 2 RBI’s. Ladendorf is hitting .150 with his Jackson Generals team.
Karch Kowalczyk, Tulsa Drillers (Affiliate of Los Angeles Dodgers) Double A
Kowalczyk made one relief appearance going 2 innings giving up 0 runs on 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 1. Kowalczyk has a 5.79 ERA and has 23 strikeouts in 23.1 innings of work.
Jason Goldstein, Stockton Ports (Affiliate to Oakland Athletics) High A
Goldstein collected a hit in every game he played in this past week, going 4 for 12, hitting .333. Goldstein is now hitting .308 with his High A club.
Blake Hickman, Winston-Salem Dash (Affiliate to Chicago White Sox) High A
Hickman picked up his 1st win as a starter this past week, going 5 innings giving up 6 runs on 8 hits and 3 walks. Hickman is now 1-2 with a 7.88 ERA.
Adam Walton, Visalia Rawhide (Affiliate to Arizona Diamondbacks) High A
Walton went 5 for 18 this past week, hitting .278. Walton is now hitting .269 on the year.
Ryan Koziol, Augusta GreenJackets (Affiliate to San Francisco Giants) Low A
Koziol made two relief appearances going 4 innings in total giving up 0 runs on 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 1. Koziol has a 2.66 ERA on the year.
Zach Lewis, Kannapolis Intimidators (Affiliate to Chicago White Sox) Low A
Lewis made one start this past week, going 6 innings giving up 0 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7. Lewis now has a 3.02 ERA on the year.
Will Kincanon, Kannapolis Intimidators (Affiliate to Chicago White Sox) Low A
Kincanon made two relief appearances this past week going 2 innings in total and picking up one save. Kincanon gave up 0 runs in those 2 innings off only 1 hit while striking out 3. Kincanon has a 4.50 ERA on the year.
Danny Mayer, Williamsport Crosscutters (Affiliate to Philadelphia Phillies) Low A Shortseason
Mayer went 5 for 17 this past week, hitting .294. Mayer is hitting .271 for his Low A team.
Sean Hjelle, Salem-Keizek Volcanoes (Affiliate to San Francisco Giants) Low A Shortseason
Hjelle who was the 45th pick in the 2018 MLB Draft after having a storied career at Kentucky got to log 1 inning this past week for his new pro ball team. Hjelle who threw a lot during the collegiate season, isn't expected to log many innings this year in pro ball. In his one inning of work, Hjelle gave up 1 run on 3 hits.
Michael Costanzo, Princeton Rays (Affiliate to Tampa Bay Rays) Rookie League
Costanzo made two relief appearances this past week going a total of 3 innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 7. After coming off a great collegiate season, Costanzo continues to impress in pro ball striking out 7 in 4 innings of work so far.
Marshawn Taylor, AZL D-Backs (Affiliate to Arizona Diamondbacks) Rookie League
Taylor went 2 for 7 this past week and is currently hitting .160 since making the switch from the collegiate ranks to pro ball. Taylor was one of the top hitters in the SWAC this past season.
Independent Baseball
Joe Benson, Chicago Dogs (Independent League) American Association
Benson went 6 for 26 this past week, hitting .231. Benson is hitting .278 on the year with the Dogs.
Kylin Turnbull, Chicago Dogs (Independent League) American Association
Turnbull picked up his 2nd win of the year this past week, going a complete game throwing a gem. Turnbull went 9 innings giving up only 1 run on 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4. Turnbull has a 4.83 ERA on the year.
Mitch Glasser, Sioux Falls Canaries (Independent League) American Association
Glasser collected a hit in every game but one this past week. Glasser went 10 for 30, hitting .333 on the week.
Mitch Schulewitz, Schaumburg Boomers (Independent League) Frontier League
Schulewitz made two relief appearances this past week, picking up the wins in both. Schulewitz went a total of 4 innings giving up 0 runs on 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2. Schulewitz has a 2.25 ERA on the year.
Jack Landwehr, Normal Cornbelters (Independent League) Frontier League
Landwehr made one start this past week, picking up his 1st win as a Cornbelter. Landwehr threw his best game of the year, going 7 innings giving up 0 runs on only 2 hits while striking out 12. Landwehr has a 2.53 ERA on the year.
