Week #13: NCAA Division I College Baseball, Top Tier Alumni Roundup
This week saw Sean Sinisko absolutely deal for the Redbirds in an MVC matchup with Missouri State. Sinisko picked a win throwing a complete game 9 inning gem giving up only one run on 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6. Kellen Saver for Illinois swung a hot stick going 5 for 13, with a two doubles and 4 RBI's vs Iowa. Trey Schramm for Xavier moved out of the relief role and got a start vs. Georgetown over the weekend and picked up a win tossing 4 scoreless innings giving up only 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. Division I Player of the Week:
Sean Sinisko, LHP, Illinois State
Sinisko threw a complete game 9 innings collecting the win vs. Missouri State this past weekend. Sinisko was dominate as he only gave up one run off 5 hits and 2 walks whiles striking out 6. The Redbirds took 3 of 4 from Missouri State this past weekend and improved to 21-30 overall and 11-13 in the MVC. Sinisko is 5-5 on the year and continues to be a key component to the Redbirds success.
The Best of the Rest for Week #13:
Kellen Sarver, 1B, Illinois
Sarver had a really good weekend hitting vs. Iowa as he went 5 for 13, hitting .387 with two doubles and 4 RBI's. The Fighting Illini won 2 of 3 vs Iowa and moved to 18-19 overall on the year. Sarver is hitting .279 with 6 doubles, 4 homers and 25 RBI's.
Trey Schramm, RHP, Xavier
Schramm got a start this past weekend vs. Georgetown and picked up a win. Schramm tossed 4 scoreless innings giving up only 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. Xavier won 4 of 5 vs. Georgetown and improved to 23-22 overall and 13-9 in the Big East. Schramm is 2-0 with 3 saves, an ERA of 5.01 in 23.1 innings of work with 23 strikeouts.
Andrew Hoffmann, RHP, Illinois
Hoffmann pitched really well again vs. Iowa this past weekend but got a no-decision for his efforts. Hoffmann tossed 5 innings giving up only 2 runs off 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5. Illinois took 2 of 3 from Iowa and are 18-19 overall on the year. Hoffmann is 2-0 in 9 starts this year with a 3.31 ERA and has 56 strikeouts in 49.1 innings of work.
Brady Miller, RHP, Western Michigan
Miller had by far his best start of the year vs. Central Michigan this past weekend. Miller picked up his 1st win of the year tossing a complete game 7 innings giving up 3 runs off 6 hits and 3 walks while striking out 3. Western Michigan took 3 of 4 from Central Michigan and improved to 20-22 overall and 19-13 in the MAC.
Brandon Williams, RHP, Presbyterian
Williams got a win in relief this past weekend vs High Point where he tossed 4 innings giving up only 2 runs off 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 1. Presbyterian swept High Point and improved to 17-20 overall and 16-15 in the Big South.
Blake Wright, INF, Clemson
Wright got one spot start this past weekend vs. Florida State, where he made the most of it, going 2 for 4 with 3 RBI's and hitting his 1st collegiate homerun. Clemson beat South Carolina in the midweek game and lost 2 of 3 to Florida State and they are now 24-23 overall and 16-17 in the ACC.
Konnor Ash, RHP, Missouri
Ash made one relief appearance this past weekend vs. 3rd ranked Mississippi State. Ash went 2.1 innings giving up 0 runs off 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2. Missouri took 2 of 3 from Mississippi State and improved to 15-33 overall and 7-20 in the SEC.
Dawson Place, RHP, High Point
Place made two relief appearances this past week, throwing a total of 2.1 innings giving up 1 run on 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 3. High Point lost to Longwood in the midweek game and got swept by Presbyterian on the weekend to fall to 14-28 overall and 12-22 in the Big South.
Jordan Libman, OF, Illinois State
Libman continues to swing a hot stick as he collected 3 more hits this past weekend vs. Missouri State with two doubles as ISU took 3 of 4 from the Bears. ISU is now 21-30 overall and 11-13 in the MVC and Libman is hitting .306 with 8 doubles, 2 triples, 4 homers and 24 RBI's.
Austin Ehren, OF, Belmont
Ehren got in one game this past weekend vs. Eastern Kentucky and went 2 for 2. Belmont got beat by Austin Peay in the midweek game and got swept by EKU to fall to 20-28 overall and 12-15 in the OVC. Ehren is hitting .269 on the year.
Tony Livermore, INF, Northwestern
Livermore started in the only game that the Wildcats played in this weekend vs. Nebraska where he went 2 for 4 but they got beat and fall to 12-17 overall.
Kevin Davis, RHP, USC-Upstate
Davis collected his 9th save of the year vs. UNC-Asheville where he went 1 inning giving up 2 runs off 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 1. Davis got another relief appearance vs. Campbell where he went 1.1 innings giving up 1 run off 1 hit and 1 walk. The Spartans beat UNC-Asheville in the midweek game but got swept by Campbell over the weekend and are 34-13 overall and 25-12 in the Big South. Davis has a 1.82 ERA and has 36 strikeouts in 24.2 innings of work out of the bullpen.
Austin Blazevic, 1B, SEMO
Blazevic went 2 for 7 with a double in two games vs. Lipscomb this past weekend. SEMO won 2 of 3 vs. Lipscomb and improved to 25-18 overall and 17-10 in the OVC.
Vincent Massaglia, OF, Southern Illinois
Massaglia went 3 for 9 this past weekend as they took 3 of 4 from Indiana State and improved to 36-16 overall and 13-11 in the MVC.
Keaton Rice, C, Bradley
Rice collected 2 hits this past weekend with a homer, a double and collected 4 RBI's. Bradley split with 28th ranked Dallas Baptist and moved to 18-19 overall and 10-9 in the MVC.
