Bobby Seymour, Wake Forest
Seymour was on fire this past week at the plate going 6 for 14, hitting .429 with a homerun, two doubles and 3 RBI’s. However, it wasn’t enough as the Demon Deacons only beat Radford in the mid-week, then got swept by #4 ranked NC State on the weekend. Wake Forest is now 22-29 overall and 11-16 in the ACC. Seymour is hitting .282 as a freshman with 10 doubles, 6 homers, and 24 RBI’s.
Hank Christie, Northwestern
Christie had his best outing of the year vs. Iowa this past weekend. Christie picked up the win, improving to 3-5 on the year by tossing a shutout through 7 innings of work giving up only 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2. Christie’s performance helped the Wildcats get a much needed Big Ten conference series win, as they took 2 of 3 from Iowa this past weekend to improve to 16-29 overall. Christie on the year as a weekend starter for the Wildcats owns a 4.79 ERA.
Quinn Snarskis, Illinois
Snarskis got the win vs. Michigan this past weekend moving him to 6-1 on the year with a 3.06 ERA for the Fighting Illini. Snarskis went 6 innings giving up only 1 run on 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out 1. Illinois took 2 of 3 from Michigan to win the series and move to 29-17 overall and 13-8 in the Big Ten.
Matt Burch, Wabash Valley CC
Burch went 7 for 12, hitting .583 this past weekend in the Region 24 tournament with a double and 4 RBI’s. Wabash Valley CC beat Southeastern and Kaskaskia twice this past weekend and improved to 44-9-1 overall. Burch is hitting .384 on the year with 20 doubles, 1 triple, 3 homers, 39 RBI’s and 19 SB’s.
Nick Menken, Virginia Tech
Menken had a huge week offensively for the Hokies, going 6 for 16, hitting .375 with a home run, a double and 4 RBI’s. However, it was not enough as Virginia Tech lost to West Virginia in the mid-week game and got swept over the weekend vs. Miami to fall to 20-30 overall and 8-19 in the ACC.
Welby Malczewski, Auburn
Malczewski made two relief appearances this past weekend vs. #6 ranked Ole Miss going a total of 1.2 innings giving up 0 earned runs on 4 hits. Auburn the #16 ranked team in the nation got swept by Ole Miss and slipped to 35-17 overall and 13-14 in the SEC.
Bobby Kametas, Creighton
Kametas picked up two big saves this past week, one vs. Nebraska in the mid-week games and one vs. Villanova over the weekend. Kametas picking up his 5th and 6th save respectively went a total of 3 innings giving up 0 runs on 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 1. Creighton beat Nebraska and Nebraska-Omaha in the mid-week games and swept Villanova on the weekend to improve to 31-15 overall and 8-9 in the Big East. Kametas has a 2.37 ERA and 6 saves on the year out of the Blue Jays bullpen.
Michael Costanzo, Austin Peay
Costanzo picked up his 9th win of the year vs. #5 ranked Clemson this past weekend. Costanzo went 6 innings giving up 3 runs on 8 hits and 1 walk while striking out 6. Clemson went on to take 2 of 3 from Austin Peay on the weekend and the Governors are now 30-20 overall and 17-10 in the OVC. Costanzo on the year is 9-1 with a 4.10 ERA and has 92 strikeouts.
Jacob Nagel, Bellarmine
Nagel pitched a gem in the GLVC tournament this past weekend vs. Maryville. Nagel went 8 strong innings to pick up the win giving up only 1 run on 6 hits and 4 walks while striking out 5. Bellarmine the #24 ranked team in the nation ended up getting knocked out by Quincy later in the tournament. Bellarmine finishing at 37-17 overall on the year, got an at-large bid into the D2 NCAA tournament and square off against Southern Indiana in the Midwest Regional next weekend. Nagel finished the year with a 6-3 record and a 3.97 ERA.
Peyton Isaacson, Saint Leo
Isaacson went 5 for 13, hitting .385 this past weekend with a home run and 5 RBI’s. Saint Leo won 2 of 3 vs. Embry-Riddle to finish the season 38-11 overall and 21-9 in the SSC. However, the NCAA D2 committee didn’t select Saint Leo into the D2 NCAA Tournament this year. Isaacson finished the year leading his team in all five of these offensive categories: batting average .346, doubles with 17, homers with 12, RBI’s with 50 and slugging % of .632. Isaacson also had a 0-1 record on the mound with a 4.26 ERA with 14 saves and 20 K’s in 19 innings of work.
Jack Carberry, Western Illinois
Carberry collected his 2nd win of the year out of relief this past weekend vs. South Dakota State. Carberry went 3 innings in relief giving up 0 earned runs on 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 1. The Leathernecks took 2 of 3 from South Dakota State and improved to 15-26 overall, as Carberry improved his ERA to 2.50.
Richard Fordon, Northwestern
Fordon made one relief performance this past weekend vs. Iowa going 2 innings giving up 0 runs on 0 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2. The Wildcats took 2 of 3 from Iowa on the weekend to improve to 16-29 overall.
Brett Newberg, Austin Peay
Newberg made two relief appearances this past weekend vs. #5 ranked Clemson. Newberg picked up the save in the opener going 3 innings giving up 0 runs on 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3. In the finale, Newberg went another 1.1 innings giving up 1 run on 0 hits and 4 walks while striking out 1. Austin Peay lost 2 of 3 vs. Clemson and are now 30-20 overall. Newberg is 3-2 out of the bullpen with a 3.78 ERA and has 6 saves on the year.
Andrew Zapka, Heartland CC
Zapka improved to 3-0 on the year with win vs. John Wood CC this past weekend. Zapka went 6 innings giving up 0 runs on 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 6. Heartland CC will be in the Region 24 tournament this weekend.
Mark DiLuia, Maryland
DiLuia got the win vs. Rutgers in the finale this past weekend to help the Terps sweep the series and move to 24-27 overall and 9-11 in the Big Ten. DiLuia went 6 innings in his win giving up 2 runs on 6 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4. On the year, DiLuia has a 3-4 record with a 5.17 ERA.
Brady Huffman, Illinois State
Huffman got a no-decision this past weekend vs. Valpo giving the Redbirds a solid effort going 6 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3. ISU took 2 of 3 from Valpo over the weekend to improve to 20-27 overall and 7-11 in the Missouri Valley.
Ryan Dunne, Western Illinois
Dunne got a no-decision for his starting efforts vs. South Dakota State this past weekend but pitched well to help them take the opener. Dunne went 7.1 innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and 4 walks while striking out 9. Western Illinois took 2 of 3 from South Dakota State and are now 15-26 overall. Dunne has a 5.17 ERA and has 84 strikeouts in 71.1 innings of work.
Cal Coughlin, TCU
Coughlin took a loss in the opener of the West Virginia series this past weekend going 0.2 inning of relief giving up 1 run on 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 1. But then Coughlin bounced back to pick up a save in the series finale going 1 inning of shutout baseball giving up 0 hits. TCU took 2 of 3 in the series to move to 29-19 overall and 10-10 in the Big 12, while Coughlin continues to be a go to guy in the bullpen for the Horned Frogs with a 1.63 ERA in 24 appearances on the year.
Kolton Rominski, Hillsdale
Rominski picked up his 1st save of the year in the G-MAC Tournament vs. Walsh early on this weekend going 2 innings giving up 0 runs on 2 hits while striking out 1. Then vs. Malone, Rominski picked up a win in relief going 5 innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5. These two outings by Rominski helped Hillsdale get to the G-MAC Finals where the Chargers won their 1st ever conference title vs. Kentucky-Wesleyan to advance to the D2 NCAA Tournament. Hillsdale with the automatic bid for winning your conference will move on to play Illinois-Springfield in the NCAA Midwest Regional next weekend. Rominski has 5-3 record on the year with a 4.08 ERA and one save.
Brian Musielak, Concordia-Chicago
Musielak picked up a win in the NACC tournament this past weekend vs. Marian. Musielak went 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 7 hits while striking out 4. Concordia-Chicago the #10 ranked team in D3 ended up losing in the NACC finals to Aurora University. However, Concordia-Chicago got an at-large bid into the NCAA D3 Tournament for going 33-12 overall and will play Bethany Lutheran College in the 1st round of the D3 Regionals. Musielak is 5-2 on the mound with a 3.44 ERA.
Anfernee Crompton, Army
Crompton collected a hit in all three games in the Patriot League Semi-Finals vs. Bucknell this past weekend with a triple and 2 RBI’s. Army lost the first game of the series and won the next two to move onto the Patriot League Finals this upcoming weekend vs. Navy. Army is now 33-22 overall on the year.
Dalton Parker, Purdue
Parker made two relief appearances this past week. The 1st relief appearance game in the mid-week vs. Ball State where he went 1.1 innings giving up 1 earned run on 3 hits while striking out 2. His 2nd relief appearance came on the weekend vs. Ohio State where he picked up the win going 1.1 innings giving up 0 runs on 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 1. Purdue won both mid-week games vs. IPFW and Ball State but lost 2 of 3 vs. Ohio State on the weekend to slip to 30-18 overall and 14-6 in the Big Ten.
Louis Niemerg, Maryville
Niemerg went 4 for 11 in the GLVC Tournament this past weekend hitting .364 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s. Niemerg took the loss in their last game vs. Bellarmine only going 3. 2 innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3. Maryville finished the year with a 28-25 overall record. Niemerg finished the year hitting .386 with 12 doubles, 2 triples, 5 homers and 29 RBI’s. On the mound, Niemerg finished the year with a 4-4 record and a 4.79 ERA.
Justin Kelly, Wayne State
Kelly collected a hit in both games of the GLIAC tournament this past weekend. Wayne State lost both and were ousted out of the GLIAC tournament and thus finished their season with a 27-21 overall record. Kelly finished the year with a .304 batting average, 13 doubles, 2 triples, 11 homers and 46 RBI’s.
David Craan, Illinois
Craan got two starts behind the dish this past weekend vs. Michigan getting a hit in both games, with one of them being his 1st home run of the year, helping the Fighting Illini take 2 of 3 from the Wolverines to improve to 29-17 overall.
Sean Hjelle, Kentucky
Hjelle picked up his 7th win of the season vs. Mississippi State this past weekend going 7 innings giving up 6 runs on 9 hits and 5 walks while striking out 3. Even though Hjelle didn’t have his best stuff he was able to gut out a win and help the Wildcats take 2 of 3 on the series to improve to 33-18 and 13-14 in the SEC. Hjelle has a 3.56 ERA for the #17 ranked Wildcats this year.
Willie Bourbon, Northwestern
Bourbon collected a hit in every game this past weekend vs. Iowa with 2 RBI’s. The Wildcats took 2 of 3 vs. Iowa and improved to 16-29 overall. Bourbon on the year is hitting .258 with 5 homers, 3 triples, 6 doubles and 29 RBI’s.
David Dobrinich, Western Illinois
Dobrinich hit his 1st home run of the year, as he pinch hit in the South Dakota Series to hit a 2 run homer. Western Illinois went on to take 2 of 3 from South Dakota State and improve to 15-26 overall and 12-11 in the Summit.
Michael Schalasky, UIndy
Schalasky made three appearances this past weekend in the GLVC tournament. Schalasky went a total of 6.1 innings giving up 6 runs on 8 hits and 3 walks while striking out 8. UIndy made it all the way to the GLVC Finals only to lose to Quincy. UIndy didn’t receive an at-large bid into the D2 NCAA tournament and finished the year 31-23 overall. Schalasky finished the year with a 5-4 record, one save, a 5.79 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 59 innings of work.
Kevin Coppin, Concordia-Chicago
Coppin collected 4 hits this past week in the NACC Tournament but they lost in the Finals to Aurora University. Concordia-Chicago ended up getting an at-large bid to the D3 NCAA tournament for their 33-12 record.
Gunnar Haskins, Augustana
Haskins went 3 for 8 in two games in the CCIW tournament. However, Augustana lost both games and didn’t make the D3 NCAA tournament. Augustana finished the year 25-16 overall. Haskins finished the season with a .299 average with 14 doubles 4 homers and 43 RBI’s.
Ben Dickey, Northwestern
Dickey hit his 1st home run of the year this past weekend vs. Iowa to help the Wildcats win a Big Ten series vs. Iowa to improve to 16-29 overall.
Kevin Sullivan, Middle Tennessee State
Sullivan picked up two big hits this past weekend vs. Florida Atlantic, belting a homer and double while collecting 2 more RBI’s. However. FAU took 2 of 3 vs. MTSU and they dropped to 25-25-1 overall.
Luke Johnson, Bucknell
Johnson collected two hits in the Semi-Finals of the Patriot League vs. Army this past weekend only to end up on the losing end of the series that ends the Bisons season. Bucknell finished with a 17-27-1 overall record. Johnson finished his senior season with a .294 batting average with 9 doubles, 3 triples and 25 RBI’s.
Jake Huber, Augustana
Huber went 2 for 5 in the CCIW tournament this past week, but Augustana lost both games and finished the season with a 25-16 overall record. Huber finished the season with a .272 average with 11 doubles, a triple, a homer and 21 RBI’s.
Steven Skolarz, Montevallo
Skolarz made one appearance out of the bullpen in the Gulf South tournament vs. West Florida where he went 3.1 innings giving up 3 runs on 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2. Montevallo got knocked out of the conference tournament by West Florida but did get an at-large bid into the D2 NCAA tournament with a 35-17 overall record. Montevallo will take on Nova Southeastern in the 1st Rd of the NCAA D2 South Regional this upcoming weekend. Skolarz has a 5.23 ERA on the year.
Tommy Duddleston, Wisconsin-Stevens Point
Duddleston collected two hits this past week vs. Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Wisconsin-Stevens Point lost both those games and finished the season 24-14 overall and 15-9 in the WIAC. Duddleston finished the year hitting .333 with 8 doubles, 3 triples and 13 stolen bases.
Marshawn Taylor, Grambling State
Taylor collected one hit in two games this past week as Grambling State loss both games to Northwestern State and Louisiana Tech to fall to 23-24 overall. Taylor finished his senior regular season hitting .392 with 3 triples, 39 RBI’s and 18 SB’s. Grambling State will take on Mississippi Valley in the first round of the SWAC playoffs this upcoming weekend.
