Major League Baseball Top Performances in Week #7:
Rob Scahill (Class of 2005), Milwaukee Brewers
Scahill made three relief appearances this past week. The first two were right where he left off last week as he threw a scoreless inning vs. the San Diego Padres and a scoreless inning with a strikeout vs. the Chicago Cubs. In his 3rd outing vs. the Chicago Cubs this week it was the first time he has got roughed up a bit as a reliever, as his gave up 2 runs on 3 hits in 2 innings of work. His efforts out of the bullpen have helped the Brewers into first place however in the NL Central Division. Scahill now has a 3.48 ERA on the year.
Tanner Roark (Class of 2005), Washington Nationals
Roark had his toughest outing of the year vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates where he only went 5 innings giving up 7 runs on 8 hits, 4 walks while striking out 3. He is now 3-2 on the year with a 4.73 ERA. The Nationals are still holding strong however in 1st place in the NL East.
Minor League Baseball Top Performances in Week #7:
Kyle Hunter (Class of 2008), Tacoma Rainiers (Triple A, Mariners)
Hunter got his 1st win with his new squad going 5 innings in his start vs. Omaha Storm Chasers giving up 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 1. He currently has a 3.27 ERA in Triple A.
Paul DeJong (Class of 2011), Memphis Redbirds (Triple A, Cardinals)
DeJong continues to swing the bat well as he went 6 for 22 this past week with a double, a homerun and 2 more RBI’s. On the year, he is hitting .300 with 9 home runs, 9 doubles and 26 RBI’s in Triple A.
Ryan Borucki (Class of 2012), Dunedin Blue Jays (High A, Blue Jays)
Borucki collected his 1st win of the year in his best outing vs. Charlotte Stone Crabs going 5.1 innings giving up 1 run on 6 hits while striking out 5. He currently has 4.11 ERA on the year.
Mike Martin (Class of 2011), Beloit Snappers (Low A, Athletics)
Martin collected 4 hits this past week with a double and 2 RBI’s. He is now currently hitting .250 on the year.
Tyler Ladendorf (Class of 2006), Charlotte Knights (Triple A, White Sox)
Ladendorf collected 2 hits this past week, one of which was a homerun. He is now currently hitting .240 in Triple A.
Jeremy Rhoades (Class of 2011), Inland Empire 66ers (High A, Angels)
Rhoades got the loss in relief this past week going 2 innings giving up 3 runs on 2 hits, 1 walk while striking out 4. He currently has a 6.33 ERA.
Karch Kowalczyk (Class of 2009), Tulsa Drillers (Double A, Dodgers)
Kowalczyk had his roughest outing of the year in his two relief appearances this past week. He went 2 innings in his 1st outing this past week giving up 2 runs on 1 hit, 1 walk while striking out 2. In his 2nd outing of the week he went 1.1 innings giving up 4 runs on 4 hits and 1 walk. He currently has a 3.92 ERA.
Adam Walton (Class of 2012), Kane County Cougars (Low A, Diamondbacks)
Walton got called up to the Low A squad this past week, where he went 2 for 9 with a double and 3 RBI’s in his debut. He is currently hitting .222.
Jason Goldstein (Class of 2012), Beloit Snappers (Low A, Athletics)
Goldstein picked up 2 hits this past week with a double and 3 RBI’s. He is currently hitting .218 on the year.

Hank Christie (Class of 2016), Northwestern
Christie made Big Ten All-Freshman Team this year after going 5-4 on the year with a 3.82 ERA in 77.2 innings of work, which was the most of any pitcher on the pitching staff. He got the win vs. Rutgers in their last regular season Big Ten series throwing 7 innings giving up 0 runs on 5 hits while striking out 4. The Wildcats swept Rutgers over the weekend and improved to 24-28 overall and 13-11 in the Big Ten. This surge at the end of the season gave Northwestern a bid into the Big Ten playoffs where they earned a 7 seed and will face off against Michigan. This is the 1st time since 2010 that Northwestern will play in the Big Ten playoffs and this is the highest winning percentage since 2005, posted by 2nd year Head Coach, Spencer Allen.
Sean Hjelle (Class of 2015), Kentucky
Hjelle was selected as SEC Pitcher of the Year and First Team SEC selection for his outstanding efforts this year. He went 9-2 on the year with a 3.17 ERA in 88 innings collecting 81 strikeouts. He is the 1st pitcher in Kentucky’s history to win this award. He pitched and got the win vs. #5 ranked Florida this past weekend going 5.2 innings giving up 1 earned run on 6 hits, 5 walks while striking out 5. Kentucky lost 2 of 3 to Florida on the weekend but finished the year as the #7 ranked team nationally with a 38-18 overall record and 19-11 in the SEC.
Cal Coughlin (Class of 2016), TCU
Coughlin made two relief appearances this past week. The first one came in the mid-week game vs. UT-Arlington where he went 0.2 innings giving up 0 runs on 1 hit. In his second outing on the weekend vs. California he went 2 innings giving up 0 runs on 0 hits while striking out 2. They won both games he relieved in this past week. TCU took 2 of 3 from California and improved to 39-14 overall and 16-8 in the Big XII. They earned a #2 seed in the Big XII tournament and will face Kansas in their first round matchup. TCU is ranked #6 nationally and as a freshman, Coughlin is now pitching at 2.00 ERA.
Marty Napleton (Class of 2013), Saint Joseph’s College (IN)
Napleton went 7 for 14, hitting .500 in their NCAA D2 Regionals and collected 3 RBI’s. This however was not enough as they got bumped from the tournament just three games into it finishing the season off 35-22 overall. Napleton finished his senior campaign off hitting .337 with 12 doubles, 2 home runs, 37 RBI’s and a slugging percentage of .430.
Luke Johnson (Class of 2014), Bucknell
Johnson got a hit in both of his Patriot League Championship games vs. Holy Cross. He went 3 for 8, hitting .375 but they lost both games vs. Holy Cross to finish the season 21-28 overall. Johnson finished the year hitting .282 with 11 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, 27 RBI’s and a slugging percentage of .412.
Eric Giltz (Class of 2015), SIUE
Giltz went 4 for 11, hitting .364 in his last weekend of play vs. Jacksonville State with a double and an RBI. He finished the year hitting .302 with 8 doubles, a triple, a home run and 29 RBI’s as a red-shirt freshman. SIUE didn’t make the OVC playoffs and finished the year 23-29 overall.
Justin Kelly (Class of 2015), Wayne State
Kelly went 7 for 18, hitting .389 in the NCAA D2 Regionals with 2 home runs and 4 RBI’s. Wayne State beat Southern Indiana, Drury and Kentucky Wesleyan only to lose to Quincy twice to get ousted from the playoffs. Wayne State finished the year 34-21 overall and Kelly finished the year hitting .234 with 9 doubles, 12 home runs, 28 RBI’s and a slugging percentage of .491.
Brian Musielak (Class of 2014), Concordia-Chicago
Musielak got the win in the semi-finals of their NCAA D3 Regional vs. Wisconsin-LaCrosse. In his outing he went 6 innings giving up 0 runs on 6 hits, 3 walks while striking out 4. Concordia-Chicago went 4-0 in their Regional to make it to the NCAA D3 World Series this upcoming weekend. Musielak on the year is 9-1 with a 2.06 ERA, which is lowest on the team, along with having 4 saves. Concordia-Chicago is currently 33-11.
Frankie Perrone (Class of 2014), Eastern Illinois
Perrone went 5 for 13, hitting .385 with a homerun and 3 RBI’s over the weekend as the Panthers beat Butler in the mid-week and lost 2 of 3 vs. Austin Peay on the weekend. Eastern Illinois finished 21-35 overall and missed the OVC playoffs. Perrone hit .263 on the year with 14 doubles, 11 home runs, 36 RBI’s and had a slugging percentage of .526.
Chris Myjak (Class of 2012), Butler
Myjak went 2 innings of relief over the weekend vs. Creighton giving up 0 run on 2 hits. Butler split with Creighton and didn’t make the Big East Playoffs, finishing 31-20 overall and 7-10 in the Big East. Myjak finished the year 2-2 with 8 saves and a 2.35 ERA.
Trey Schramm (Class of 2015), Xavier
Schramm had two relief appearances vs. Georgetown over the weekend going a total of 2 innings giving up 0 runs on 2 hits while striking out 1. Xavier swept the Hoyas over the weekend and improved to 29-25 overall and 10-6 in the Big East. Xavier squares off as the #3 seed in the Big East tournament this upcoming weekend. Schramm finished the year with a 4.64 ERA with a 2-3 record, 1 save and 34 strikeouts in his 33 innings of work out of the bullpen.
Jordan Chudacoff (Class of 2011), Georgetown
Chudacoff went 2 innings of relief this past weekend vs. Xavier giving up 0 runs on 2 hits, 1 walk while striking out 3. They lost all 3 games to Xavier as they didn’t qualify for the Big East tournament with a 27-28 overall record. Chudacoff had a 6.46 ERA in his senior campaign with 11 strikeouts in 15.1 innings of relief work.
Matt Sullivan (Class of 2014), Chicago State
Sullivan went 4 for 12, hitting .333 over the weekend as they got swept vs. Northern Colorado. Sullivan finished the year hitting .299 with 8 doubles, 2 triples, a homerun and 17 RBI’s. Chicago State finished 11-35 on the year.
Connor Riley (Class of 2013), USC-Aiken
Riley got a No-Decision in his NCAA D2 Regional start vs. Northern Georgia, where he went 6 innings giving up 1 earned run on 3 hits, 3 walks while striking out 6. They got bumped from the D2 Regional by losing to Northern Georgia and Catawaba over the weekend. USC-Aiken finished 40-15 overall. Riley finished the year 6-2 with a 3.58 ERA while striking out 130 batters in 83 innings.
Matt Fallon (Class of 2013), Xavier
Fallon went 4 for 12, hitting .333 over the weekend vs. Georgetown. On the year, he hit .253 with 7 doubles, 2 home runs and 21 RBI’s. Xavier earned a #3 seed in the Big East tournament.
Kevin Coppin (Class of 2014), Concordia-Chicago
Coppin went 4 for 14, hitting .285 over the weekend in the NCAA D3 Regional with a double, a homerun and 5 RBI’s. Concordia-Chicago won their Regional and are on to play in the D3 World Series this upcoming weekend. Coppin is currently hitting .313 with 5 doubles, 4 home runs, 19 RBI’s and a slugging percentage of .485.
Danny Mayer (Class of 2013), Pacific
Mayer went 3 for 10 in his last series vs. San Francisco with a homerun and 3 RBI’s. Pacific lost 2 of 3 to San Francisco to finish the year 18-35 overall and out of the playoffs. Mayer hit .242 on the year with 5 doubles, 12 home runs, 31 RBI’s and a .472 slugging percentage.
Brett Shimanovsky (Class of 2013), Saint Louis
Shimanovsky threw one inning of relief vs. George Mason over the weekend giving up 0 runs on 0 hits with 1 walk. Saint Louis took 2 of 3 from George Mason and improved to 32-20 overall and 12-10 in the Atlantic 10. They are in as the #5 seed in the Atlantic 10 tournament this upcoming weekend. Shimanovsky finished the regular season with a 2.82 ERA in 22.1 innings of relief work along with 22 strikeouts.
Jesse Forestell (Class of 2015), Western Michigan
Forestell collected a hit in every game this past week helping the Broncos sweep Buffalo and finish the year 23-27 overall and 12-12 in the MAC. Western Michigan will play Eastern Michigan in the MAC tournament this upcoming weekend. Forestell finished the regular season hitting .269 with 10 doubles and 18 RBI’s.
Cooper Johnson (Class of 2016), Mississippi
Johnson went 1 for 5 with an RBI in his two games behind the dish vs. #23 ranked Auburn this past weekend. Ole Miss lost 2 of 3 and finished the regular season 32-24 overall and 14-16 in the SEC. Ole Miss will square off against Auburn again this upcoming weekend at the SEC tournament. Johnson finished the regular season hitting .210 as a freshman and threw out 74% of people trying to attempt steals on him.
Michael Sebby (Class of 2016), Illinois State
Sebby threw one inning of relief this past weekend vs. #12 ranked Missouri State. He gave up 0 runs on 1 hit while striking out 2. Illinois State split with Missouri State and will have to face them again in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament this upcoming weekend. Illinois State is now 13-38 overall on the year.
Jacob Nagel (Class of 2016), Bellarmine
Nagel got 1.2 innings of relief work in their NCAA D2 Regionals game giving up 1 run on 3 hits and 1 walk. Bellarmine lost their first two playoff games in the Regional and finished 34-21 on the year. Nagel finished with a 3.12 ERA in 40.1 innings of work as a freshman.
Jack Landwehr (Class of 2012), Illinois State
Landwehr went 2.2 innings in relief this past weekend vs. Missouri State giving up 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 4. Landwehr has a 5.68 ERA in his final season as a Redbird.
Brad Margolin (Class of 2013), Wash U
Margolin took his 1st and 2nd losses of the season in the NCAA D3 Regionals. His 1st loss came at the hands of North Central where he went 7.2 innings giving up only 3 runs on 9 hits while striking out 8. His 2nd loss that ended the Bears season came in relief against Wartburg where he gave up a run in bottom of the 12th on a hit and a walk. Margolin went 9-2 on the year with a 1.98 ERA. He had 69 strikeouts in 82 innings pitched and held opponents to .190 batting average. Margolin was named D3baseball.com’s First Team All-Central Region. Wash U finished the year with 27-10 overall record.
Kyle Colletta (Class of 2013), Northern Kentucky
Colletta collected three hits this past weekend as Northern Kentucky swept Oakland and improved to 24-31 overall and 17-13 in the Horizon League. NKU will take on UW-Milwaukee in the first round of the Horizon tournament this upcoming weekend with the #3 seed. Colletta finished the regular season hitting .279 with 7 doubles, 1 homerun and 23 RBI’s.
Ben Browdy (Class of 2013), Wash U
Browdy went 3 for 11 in the NCAA D3 Regionals. Browdy was named 2nd Team All-Central Region. Browdy hit .372 on the year with 16 doubles, 1 triple, 4 home runs and had .574 slugging percentage.
Quinn Snarskis (Class of 2015), Saint Joseph’s College (IN)
Snarskis 2.1 innings of relief in his 1st outing of the NCAA D2 Regionals giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks. In his 2nd outing he took the loss as a starter that ended their season vs. Kentucky Wesleyan. He went 6 innings in that outing giving up 3 runs on 9 hits while striking out 2. Saint Joseph’s finished the season 35-22 overall. Snarskis finished the season with a 4.38 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 88.1 innings of work. He will continue on to pitch at Western Michigan next year as Saint Joseph’s will be closing.
Zack Wade (Class of 2013), DePauw
Wade went 1 for 9 with a double in his NCAA D3 Regional as they beat Cortland State and Wooster but lost to Keystone and Cortland State to get bumped out of the tournament. DePauw finished the year 33-13 overall and Wade in his senior season finished hitting .343 with 7 doubles, 3 triples, 7 home runs, 38 RBI’s and a .551 slugging percentage.
