Week #15 in College Baseball
Top Performances of Top Tier Alumni: Ryan Hampe, UIC leads the Flames to a Horizon League Championship and bid into the Louisville NCAA Regional.



Ryan Hampe, UIC

Hampe had another huge weekend on one of the biggest stages: Playoff baseball. Hampe went 6 for 14, hitting .429 with 3 homers, a double and 8 RBI's to lead UIC to a Horizon League Championship and an automatic bid into the NCAA Division I Regionals. UIC is now 29-21 overall and will face Louisville in the NCAA Regionals in the opening rounds. Indiana and Illinois State are the other teams in UIC's NCAA Regional. Hampe is leading the Flames hitting .369 as a freshman with 14 doubles, 5 homers, 47 RBI's and a slugging % of .550.

Bobby Kametas, Creighton
Kametas made one relief appearance in the Big East Championships earning a save vs. St. Johns going 2.1 innings giving up 0 runs off 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 2. Creighton went on to beat Xavier in the Big East Championships to earn the automatic bid in the NCAA Division I Regionals. Creighton is now 38-11 overall and will face Michigan in the opening rounds of the Corvallis Regional. Oregon State and and Cincinnati are also in there Regional. Kametas is 2-0 on the year with 9 saves, an ERA of 1.52, and in 20 appearances he has 25 strikeouts and holds opponents to a .093 batting average. 

Stephen Hill, Morehead State
Hill had a unbelievable weekend going 9 for 19 in the OVC Championships, hitting .474 with a homer, two doubles and 3 RBI's. Morehead State however, saw there season come to an end, losing to Jacksonville State in the OVC Championship game, finishing their season at 40-21 overall. Hill finished the year hitting .320 with 9 doubles, 6 homers, 37 RBI's, a .453 slugging % and a .424 on base %. 

Bobby Seymour, Wake Forest
Seymour continued to dominate ACC competition as he went 3 for 8, hitting .375 in his two ACC Championship games. However, it wasn't enough as Wake Forest beat Florida State and lost to NC State to finish the year 31-26 overall. Seymour finished the year as ACC Player of the Year, hitting .377 with 20 doubles, 9 homers, 92 RBI's and a slugging % of .576.

Kellen Sarver, Illinois
Sarver went 2 for 6 with a double and 2 RBI's in two games in the Big Ten Championships. Illinois lost to Maryland and Michigan but still earned an at large bid into the NCAA Division Regionals after posting a 36-19 overall record. Illinois will be playing in the Oxford Regional where they will take on Clemson in the opening round. Also in the Oxford Regional is Ole Miss and Jacksonville State. Sarver is hitting .270 on the year with 9 doubles, 2 triples, 3 homers and 28 RBI's. 

Jordie Libman, Illinois State
Libman collected a hit in every game during the MVC Championships, going 5 for 14 hitting .357 with a double. Illinois State made into the Semi-Finals of the MVC Championships losing to Indiana State. ISU with a 34-24 overall record earned an at large bid into the NCAA Division I Regionals. ISU will take on Indiana in the opening rounds of the Louisville Regional. Also in their Regional will be Louisville and UIC. Libman is hitting .309 on the year with 12 doubles, 2 homers, 27 RBI's and a .433 on base %.

Ryan Atenberger, Xavier
Altenberger went 4 for 13, hitting .307 with two doubles and 2 RBI's in the Big East Championships. Xavier lost to Creighton in the Championship game to finish 27-31 overall. Altenberger finished the year hitting .259 with 12 doubles, a triple, 5 homers, 25 RBI's and a .443 slugging %.

Brian Schrimmer, Bradley
Schrimmer made one relief appearance going 1.1 innings in the opening round of the MVC Championships giving up 0 runs off 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 1. Bradley lost in the opening round and finished with a 31-19 overall record. Schrimmer finished the year 2-0 with one save, an ERA of 1.23 in 22 innings of work.

Mark DiLuia, Maryland
DiLuia made two relief appearances in the Big Ten Championships going a total of 2.2 innings giving up 1 run off 3 hits and 4 walks while striking out 4. Maryland finished the year 29-29 overall and DiLuia finished 2-1 with a 5.45 ERA in 23 appearances, where he struck out 36 hitters.

Brett Newberg, Austin Peay
Newberg made 3 relief appearances in the OVC Championships. Newberg went a total of 3.1 innings earning a save in the process and giving up 4 runs off 6 hits and 3 walks while striking out 6. Morehead State beat Austin Peay in the Semi's and the Govs finished the year 32-25 overall. Newberg finished the year with a 5.64 ERA with 8 saves and had 62 strikeouts in 28 appearances.

Dakota Kotowski, Missouri State
Kotowski went 3 for 11 in the MVC Championships with another homerun and 3 RBI's. Missouri State only made it through three games before getting knocked out and finishing 20-36 overall. Kotowksi finished the year as MVC Freshman of the Year after hitting .288 with 4 doubles, 12 homers, 29 RBI's and a slugging % of .576.

Andrew Wilhite, Minnesota
Wilhite went 2 for 9 in three games in the Big Ten Championships. Minnesota got beat in the Semi's to finish 29-27 overall. Wilhite finished the year hitting .229 with 4 doubles, 3 homers, 14 RBI's and a .414 slugging %.

Trey Schramm, Xavier
Schramm made two relief appearances in the Big East Championships, earning a win in one of those appearances. In total, Schramm went 5.1 innings giving up 1 run off 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 1. Xavier lost in the Championship game to Creighton to finish the year 27-31 overall. Schramm finished the year 3-2 with one save, an ERA of 5.66 and had 19 strikeouts in 20 appearances.

Cooper Johnson, Ole Miss
Johnson collected 4 hits in the SEC Championships. Ole Miss lost in the Championship game to Vanderbilt to finish 37-25 overall. Ole Miss earned an at large bid into the NCAA Division I Regionals. Ole Miss will host as the #12 national seed. Ole Miss will play Jacksonville State in the opening round, as Illinois and Clemson are also in their Regional.  Johnson finished the year All-SEC Second Team after hitting .264 with 12 doubles, 6 homers, 26 RBI's and having a slugging % of .429.

Cal Coughlin, TCU
Coughlin made 4 relief appearances in the Big XII Championships. In total, Coughlin went 3 innings giving up 3 runs off 9 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2. TCU lost to Oklahoma State in the Championship game to finish 32-26 overall. TCU earned an at large bid into the NCAA Division I Regional and will play California in the opening round of the Fayetteville Regional. Also in their Regional will be Arkansas and Central Connecticut State. Coughlin is 2-0 with a save and a 5.66 ERA in 22 appearances.

Matt Burch, Old Dominion
Burch went 2 for 7 in ODU's two C-USA Championship games. ODU lost to Western Kentucky and UTSA to finish the year 35-21 overall. Burch finished the year hitting .298 with 11 doubles, 2 homers, 32 RBI's and 14 stolen bases.

Keaton Rice, Bradley
Rice went 1 for 4 in their opening round lost in the MVC Championships to finish the year 31-19 overall. Rice finished the year on the All-Defensive Team for the MVC, along with hitting .215 with 12 doubles, a homer, 14 RBI's and an on base % of .422.

Chase Stanke, Minnesota
Stanke went 1 for 3 with an RBI in the Semi's of the Big Ten Championships vs. Ohio State. Minnesota lost that game and finished 29-27 overall. Stanke finished the year hitting .220 with a double and 8 RBI's.



Marius Balandis, Iowa Western CC

Balandis has not pitched in the JUCO World Series yet, but Iowa Western has started off hot winning its first two games vs. Connors State College and Central Arizona College to put them in a winners bracket game vs. Walters State CC tonight. Iowa Western is 50-9 overall on the year. Balandis is 4-0 with one save, an ERA of 5.75 with 32 strikeouts in 20.1 innings of work this year. 



Braden Mosley, Tennessee Wesleyan

Mosley is 4 for 12, hitting .333 with 3 RBI's in the NAIA World Series so far. Tennessee Wesleyan is 3-0 in the World Series after beating Indiana Tech, Georgia Gwinnett and St. Thomas. With a record of 55-9 overall they will take on University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma tonight in the Semi's of the NAIA World Series. Mosley is hitting .401 with 7 doubles, a triple, 16 homers, 58 RBI's, 15 stolen bases and a .803 slugging %.
