Finish of D1 Conference Tournaments and D2/D3 NCAA Playoffs

Quinn Snarskis, Illinois

Snarskis got a no-decision for his good efforts in the opening round of the Big Ten Championships vs. Indiana. Snarskis went 5.1 innings and pitched masterfully, giving up 0 runs on just one hit and 2 walks while striking out 3. Illinois made it all the way to the semi-finals of the Big Ten Championships losing to Purdue to finish the season with a 33-20 record. Illinois ended up one of the first four teams out in the NCAA selection committee for the NCAA Championship Regionals. Snarskis finished the year with a 6-1 record and 2.84 ERA.

Ryan Dunne, Western Illinois
Dunne got the start in the opening round of the Summit League Championships vs. North Dakota State. Dunne took the loss but pitched well going 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits and 5 walks while striking out 5. Western Illinois lost the next game as well to get ousted from the Tournament and finished the year at 17-31. Dunne finished the year with a 4-7 record, a 4.68 ERA and had 98 strikeouts in 84.2 innings of work.

Cal Coughlin, TCU
Coughlin made two relief appearances in the Big 12 Championships this past weekend. He went a total of 2.2 innings giving up 0 runs on 2 hits while striking out 2. TCU made it all the way to the Big 12 Championship game, where they lost to Baylor. TCU finished the year with a 33-23 overall record and missed out from making the NCAA Tournament Regionals. Coughlin finished the year with a 2-2 record with 3 saves and an 1.44 ERA.  Coughlin had 22 strikeouts in 31.1 innings of work and held opponents to a .174 batting average.

Brian Musielak, Concordia-Chicago
Musielak got a start in the D3 College World Series vs. Swarthmore and got the win. Musielak went 7 innings giving up 3 runs on 8 hits and 4 walks while striking out 3. Concordia-Chicago won their first two games but then got beat twice by Texas Lutheran to get bounced from the World Series. Concordia-Chicago finished in the Final Four for D3 with a 40-15 overall record. Musielak finished the year 7-2 in his senior campaign with a 3.39 ERA.

Keaton Rice, Bradley
Rice went 4 for 13 this past weekend in the Missouri Valley Championships. Bradley beat Illinois State and Valpo before losing twice to Dallas Baptist and finishing the year 32-19 overall. Rice finished the year hitting .316 as a freshman with 3 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, 28 RBI’s and an on base % of .419.

Bobby Seymour, Wake Forest
Seymour went 2 for 9 this past weekend in the ACC Championships with a double and 2 RBI’s. Wake Forest lost both games to Louisville and Duke respectively to finish their season at 25-32 overall. Seymour as a freshman was third on his team in batting average hitting .286 and was second on his team in doubles with 12. Seymour also hit 7 home runs and had 32 RBI’s on the year.

Anfernee Crompton, Army
Crompton went 1 for 3 with a homerun and an RBI vs. Columbia this past week to prime up for their NCAA Tournament Regional this upcoming weekend. Army won the Patriot League Championships two weeks ago and earned an automatic berth to play in the Raleigh Regional where they will take on NC State in the opening round. Army is 36-22 overall this year and Crompton is hitting .236 with 4 doubles, 1 home run and 22 RBI’s.

Brian Schrimmer, Bradley
Schrimmer came into the last inning vs. Dallas Baptist where he gave up 1 hit in the Missouri Valley Championships. Bradley finished the year 32-19 overall and Schrimmer finished the year with 1.33 ERA out of the bullpen with a 1-0 record, 2 saves and had 31 strikeouts in 20.1 innings of work.

Kevin Coppin, Concordia-Chicago
Coppin went 5 for 17 in the D3 World Series with a triple and 5 RBI’s. Concordia-Chicago finished in the Final Four with a 40-15 overall record. Coppin finished the year hitting .270 with 8 doubles, 2 triples, 1 home run and 26 RBI’s.

Jordan Libman, Illinois State
Libman went 1 for 5 this past weekend in the Missouri Valley Championships. Illinois State lost to Bradley and Dallas Baptist to finish the season 22-30 overall. Libman finished the year hitting .244 with 6 doubles, 1 home run and 21 RBI’s.

Zach Frieling, Saint Louis
Frieling got to pinch-run in Atlantic-10 Championships vs. George Mason. Saint Louis won the Atlantic-10 Championship and got a berth into the NCAA Championship Regionals in were placed in the Oxford Regional next weekend. Saint Louis finished the season with a 38-18 record and will face Ole Miss in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Frieling has had limited time as a freshman but is hitting .133 in just 15 at bats.

Michael Sebby, Illinois State
Sebby came in relief once in the Missouri Valley Championships going 0.2 innings giving up 3 runs on 5 hits. Illinois State lost both of their playoff games and finished 22-30 overall. On the year, Sebby finished with a 3-1 record with one save, a 4.57 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 21.2 innings.

Ryan Hodgett, Bradley
Hodgett went 0.2 innings in the Missouri Valley Championships and gave up 4 runs on 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2. Bradley finished 32-19 overall and Hodgett finished with a 5.04 ERA with 22 strikeouts in 25 innings of work this season.

David Craan, Illinois
Craan got the start behind the dish vs. Purdue in the Big Ten semi-finals where the ousted. Craan went 0-3 and Illinois finished the year 33-20 and didn’t make the NCAA Championship Regionals. Craan finished the year with a .138 batting average in only 29 at bats.

Marius Balandis, Iowa Western CC
Balandis hasn’t gotten in to pitch yet in  the the NJCAA World Series, but Iowa Western CC is 1-1 and plays Southern Idaho CC today to see if they stay in the Series. On the year, Iowa Western is 54-6 overall, and Balandis is 6-1 with a 3.47 ERA with 39 strikeouts in 36.1 innings of work.
