MLB Roundup:

Tanner Roark, Washington Nationals

Roark had another quality start this past week picking up a win vs. the Chicago Cubs. Roark went 7.2 innings giving up only 2 runs on 9 hits and 1 walk while striking out 7. Roark has now improved to 7-12 on the year with a 4.12 ERA. The Nationals are now 60-60 on the year and are 8.5 games back in the NL East Division race.

Paul DeJong, St. Louis Cardinals

DeJong got hot this past week collecting a hit in every game he played, moving his hitting streak to 8 games. DeJong went 8 for 29 on the week with 4 doubles and 4 homeruns while collecting 9 RBI’s. DeJong is now hitting .244 on the year with 16 doubles, 13 homers and 36 RBI’s. The Cardinals are now 65-55 overall and are in the hunt to win the NL Central Division as they are only 4.5 games back.

Ryan Borucki, Toronto Blue Jays

Borucki got two starts this past week. In the first one Borucki picked up another win vs. the Boston Red Sox, going 5 innings giving up 4 runs on 9 hits and 3 walks while striking out 2. In his 2nd start of the week, he picked up a no-decision vs. the Royals going only 4 innings giving up 4 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks while striking out 1. Borucki is now 2-2 on the year with a 3.29 ERA and the Blue Jays are 54-65 overall.

MiLB Roundup:

Rob Scahill, Charlotte Knights (Affiliate of Chicago White Sox) Triple A

Scahill made 3 relief appearances this past week going a total of 4 innings giving up 0 runs on only 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out 2. Scahill now owns a 3.57 ERA in Triple A with 60 strikeouts in 53 innings of work.

Jeremy Rhoades, Salt Lake Bees (Affiliate of Los Angeles Angels) Triple A

Rhoades made 3 relief appearances this past week going a total of 3.2 innings giving up 0 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3. Rhoades owns a 3.30 ERA in Triple A with 40 strikeouts in 43.2 innings of work.

Tyler Ladendorf, Jackson Generals (Affiliate of Arizona Diamondbacks) Double A
Ladendorf got put back on the Disabled-List and has been back on it since July 20th.

Karch Kowalczyk Tulsa Drillers (Affiliate of Los Angeles Dodgers) Double A
Kowalczyk got put on the Disabled-List on July 14th and has been on it since then.

Jason Goldstein Midland RockHounds (Affiliate to Oakland Athletics) Double A

Goldstein only got one start behind the dish this past week and he went 0 for 2. Goldstein is only hitting .094 since being called up to Double A. In High A to start the season, Goldstein was hitting .300.

Blake Hickman, Winston-Salem Dash (Affiliate to Chicago White Sox) High A

Hickman made 3 relief appearances this past week going a total of 3 innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4. Hickman has a 7.34 ERA on the year and has 47 strikeouts in 57.2 innings of work.

Adam Walton, Visalia Rawhide (Affiliate to Arizona Diamondbacks) High A

Walton picked up 3 hits this past week and is now hitting .261 with 12 doubles, 3 homers and 29 RBI’s.

Ryan Koziol, Augusta GreenJackets (Affiliate to San Francisco Giants) Low A
Koziol has been on the Disabled-List since July 3rd.

Zach Lewis, Kannapolis Intimidators (Affiliate to Chicago White Sox) Low A

Lewis made one start this past week and picked up the loss, moving him to 2-5 on the year. In the loss, Lewis went 4 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out 5. Lewis has a 3.20 ERA on the year.

Will Kincanon, Kannapolis Intimidators (Affiliate to Chicago White Sox) Low A

Kincanon made 2 relief appearances this past week going a total of 3 innings giving up 5 earned runs on 5 hits and 4 walks while striking out 3. This was not one of Kincanon’s best weeks and moved his ERA to 4.62 on the year. Kincanon has 26 strikeouts in 25.1 innings of work.

Danny Mayer, Williamsport Crosscutters (Affiliate to Philadelphia Phillies) Low A Shortseason

Mayer went 3 for 16 this past week with a homerun and an RBI. Mayer is hitting .262 with his Williamsport team with 4 homers and 15 RBI’s.

Sean Hjelle, Salem-Keizek Volcanoes (Affiliate to San Francisco Giants) Low A Shortseason

Hjelle made one relief appearance and got roughed up going 1.2 innings giving up 4 runs on 3 hits while striking out 2. Hjelle has a 5.40 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 13.1 innings of work.

Michael Costanzo, Princeton Rays (Affiliate to Tampa Bay Rays) Low A Rookie League

Costanzo made one relief appearance this past week going 1 inning giving up 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 1. Costanzo has a 2.61 ERA with 4 saves and 30 strikeouts in 20.2 innings of work.

Marshawn Taylor, AZL D-Backs (Affiliate to Arizona Diamondbacks) Low A Rookie League

Taylor went 4 for 20 this past week with an RBI. Taylor is now hitting .216 with a double, a triple, 7 RBI’s and 5 stolen bases.

Ryan Dunne, Billings Mustangs (Affiliate to Cincinnati Reds) Low A Rookie League

Dunne made 2 relief appearances this past week going a total of 4 innings giving up 3 runs on 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4. Dunne got a save in one of those outing and owns a 3.78 ERA with 2 saves and 16 strikeouts in 16.2 innings of work this year.

Independent Baseball

Joe Benson, Chicago Dogs (Independent League) American Association
Benson went 6 for 21 this week with a double, a triple and an RBI. Benson is hitting .282 on the year with 13 doubles, 2 triples, 7 homers and 29 RBI’s.

Kylin Turnbull, Chicago Dogs (Independent League) American Association
Turnbull made one relief appearance this past week going 1.2 innings giving up 1 run on 1 hit. Turnbull is 4-4 with a 4.61 ERA on the year.

Mitch Glasser, Sioux Falls Canaries (Independent League) American Association
Glasser went 10 for 32 with a double and 3 RBI’s this past week. Glasser is hitting .309 with his new team with 4 doubles and 13 RBI’s.

Mitch Schulewitz, Schaumburg Boomers (Independent League) Frontier League
Schulewitz made one relief appearance this past week and took the loss. Schulewitz went 0.2 innings giving up 0 earned runs on 1 hit while striking out 1. Schulewitz is now 3-2 with a 2.20 ERA and has 31 strikeouts in 32.2 innings of work.

Jack Landwehr, Normal Cornbelters (Independent League) Frontier League
Landwehr picked up another win this past week, going 6 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out 5. Landwehr is now 7-3 on the year with 3.05 ERA and has 56 strikeouts in 73.2 innings of work.

Anthony Ray, Pennsylvania Road Warriors (Independent League) Atlantic League
Ray went 2 for 10 this past week with an RBI. Ray is hitting .232 on the year with 4 doubles, 3 triples, 11 RBI’s and 12 stolen bases.
