Week #2 for NCAA Division II and III, NAIA & JUCO: Top Tier Alumni Roundup

Here are the highlights from Week #2 in college baseball at the D2/D3, NAIA and JUCO level by our Top Tier Alums:

Top Tier Alumni Player of the Week:

Mitch Farris
, LHP, Wingate (Division II)

Farris had an unbelievable week on the mound for Wingate. In the midweek game vs. Belmont Abbey he picked up a win tossing 4 innings giving up only one run off 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 5. Farris game in relief in the weekend finale as well this week vs. Lincoln Memorial where he went 3.2 innings giving up 0 earned runs off 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3. Wingate took 3 of 4 from Lincoln Memorial and improved to 9-5 overall on the year. 

Best of the Rest in College Baseball (D2/D3/NAIA/JUCO)

Robert Chayka, OF, Kentucky Wesleyan (Division II)

Chayka collected a hit in every game on opening weekend, going 5 for 12, hitting .417 with a double and an RBI. Kentucky Wesleyan split with Grand Valley State and beat #17 ranked, Ashland to start the year 2-1 overall. 

Nick Baldassano, INF, Aurora (Division III)

Baldassano went 4 for 8, hitting .500 with 3 doubles, a triple and 2 RBI's on opening weekend for the Spartans. Aurora swept Fontbonne and are 3-0 overall to start the year. 

Ronnie Nowak, INF, Marshalltown (JUCO)

Nowak continued to swing a hot bat in Week #2 where he went 5 for 13, hitting .385 with two doubles and 3 RBI's. Marshalltown split with Three Rivers and are now 3-5 overall. 

Logan Mueller, RHP, John A. Logan (JUCO)

Mueller got his 1st start of the year this past weekend vs. Carl Sandburg tossing 3 scoreless innings giving up only 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out 5. John A. Logan is 12-2 overall on the year. 

Channing Young, RHP, St. Petersburg (JUCO)

Young picked up a win this past weekend vs. Hillsborough. Young went 7.2 innings and gave up only 2 earned runs off 3 hits and 5 walks while striking out 8. St. Petersburg is 14-6 overall and Young is 2-0 with a 3.33 ERA in 27 innings of work. 

Angel Sandoval, RHP, St. Francis (NAIA)

Sandoval went 3 innings this past weekend vs. Viterbo giving up 0 runs off only 3 hits and zero walks while striking out 2. St. Francis split with Viterbo and are now 2-4 overall on the year. 

Mitch Owens, OF/1B, Augustana (Division III)

Owens went 4 for 11, hitting .364 this past weekend with a homer, a double and collected 2 RBI's. Augustana beat Loras and Illinois College twice to improve to 5-0 overall on the year. 

Colin Summerhill, C, Triton (JUCO)

Summerhill went 6 for 20, last week with a triple, two doubles and 5 RBI's. Triton had a tough road trip losing all four games to Georgia Highlands and one to John A. Logan. Summerhill is currently hitting .504 for the Trojans which are 3-6 overall on the year.

Ari Gordon
, RHP, Parkland (JUCO)

Gordon tossed 1 inning of relief this past weekend vs. Jefferson CC where he gave up 0 earned runs off 2 hits and zero walks while striking out 2. Parkland won 3 of 4 games vs. Jefferson CC and improve to 3-2 overall on the year. 

Conner Tomasic, INF/RHP, South Suburban (JUCO)

Tomasic collected a hit in every game this past week going 4 for 13, hitting .308 with a homer and collecting 5 RBI's. South Suburban is now 5-6 overall on the year. 

Khyle Radcliffe, OF, Allen County (JUCO)

Radcliffe went 2 for 3 with two doubles and an RBI this past weekend. On the year, Radcliffe is hitting .435 with 2 homers, 4 doubles and 6 RBI's and Allen County is 10-2 overall. 

Brett Taucher, RHP, Quincy (Division II)

Taucher made two relief appearances this past week earning a save in one of the them. He threw a total of 3 innings this past weekend giving up 2 runs off 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3 vs. #22 ranked Davenport. Quincy took 3 of 4 games from ranked Davenport and are 3-1 overall to start the year. 

Max Engstrom, LHP, Indiana Wesleyan (NAIA)

Engstrom picked up a win in relief this past week, tossing 4 innings giving up only 2 runs off 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4. Indiana Wesleyan beat Cleary twice and swept University of St. Francis over the weekend to improve to 10-7 overall. 

Brenden Heiss, RHP, Southeastern (NAIA)

Heiss made one relief appearance this past week tossing 1 inning for the #1 ranked team in NAIA where he gave up 0 runs and 0 hits while striking out 2. Southeastern is 22-1 overall on the year. 

Hunter Keim, RHP, Saint Leo (Division II)

Keim made one relief appearance vs. #14 ranked Barry this past weekend, where he went 1.2 innings giving up 1 run off 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 1. All the other games this past weekend were postponed. Saint Leo is 1-2 overall to start the year. 

Austin Divello, RHP, Coe College (Division III)

Divello threw one scoreless inning in relief in his college debut vs. Millikin off only 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 1. Coe split with Millikin and beat Cornell College to start the year off 2-1 overall. 

Brennan Fisher, OF/1B, Quincy (Division II)

Fisher made his college debut this past weekend where he got to pinch-hit twice, going 1 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI's vs. #22 ranked Davenport. Quincy is 3-1 overall to start the year. 

Jack Lochner, OF, Lindenwood (Division II)

Lochner made two starts on opening weekend in his college debut and went 2 for 7 with a double and two walks. Lindenwood is ranked #6 in the nation and took all four games vs. Truman State this past weekend to start off 4-0 overall on the year. 

Nick Villasenor, LHP, St. Francis (NAIA)

Villasenor earned a win in relief this past weekend where he tossed 2.1 innings giving up 1 run off 2 hits and zero walks while striking out 2. St. Francis split with Viterbo and are now 2-4 overall on the year. 

Will Wirt, C, Truman State (Division II)

Wirt made one start behind the dish this past weekend vs. #6 ranked Lindenwood, where he went 1 for 3 with a stolen base. Truman State got swept and are 0-4 overall to start the year.
