This past week saw lots of upsets happen to the teams ranked in the Top 25. This makes us all finally realize how much more parody there in the game of baseball at the NCAA Division 1 Level this day in age. In only Week #2 of D1 baseball it is shaping to be a very interesting baseball season with teams from all across the country showing off the depth in the rosters in all the conferences. Not to mention that the Big Ten hasn't even started yet. These are the Top 25 upsets that we saw this weekend: Western Illinois upset Louisville, UCF upset Ole Miss, Notre Dame upset Wake Forest, Boston College upset Duke, North Carolina upset Virginia, Indiana State upset Tennessee, Baylor upset Auburn, Coastal Carolina upset West Virginia and Wake Forest, BYU upset Texas, UC Irvine upset UCLA, Pittsburgh upset Florida State, Georgia State upset Vanderbilt, and Virginia Tech upset Miami. College Baseball is as exciting as it has ever has been and I am loving every minute of it.

Top Tier Alumni Player of the Week
Chase Centala, RHP, Florida
Centala got his first collegiate start and recorded his 1st win for the #7 ranked Florida Gators in a midweek game vs. North Florida. Centala was electric on the mound as a freshman for the Gators tossing 4 scoreless innings giving up only 4 hits, walking none and striking out 4. Centala also went on to throw 2.2 innings of relief vs. Samford on the weekend as well giving up 0 runs off only 3 hits, walking none and striking out 1. Florida went a perfect 5-0 on the week, beating North Florida twice and sweeping Samford to improve to 6-2 overall on the year.
The Best of the Rest Top Tier Alumni Performances from Week #2:
Jordan Libman, Illinois State
Libman was really impressive at the plate on opening week for the Redbirds. Libman collected a hit in all five games this past week vs. SIUE and #20 ranked Oklahoma State. Libman was 8 for 19, hitting a staggering .421 for the week with two doubles. The Redbirds beat SIUE twice in their midweek games but got swept over the weekend vs Oklahoma State and are 2-3 overall to start the year.
Camden Minacci, Wake Forest
Minacci recorded his second save of the year as a freshman on the mound this year for the Demon Deacons vs. Notre Dame. Minacci went one scoreless inning for the save giving up only 1 hit, walking none and striking out 1. Minacci also got another relief appearance in the midweek game vs. Coastal Carolina where he tossed another 0.2 scoreless innings striking out both batters he faced. Wake Forest who was ranked #16 in the latest polls had a rough week, dropping one game to Coastal Carolina and getting beat 2 out of 3 vs. ACC opponent, Notre Dame to fall to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the ACC.
Kevin Davis, USC-Upstate
Davis earned his 2nd save of the year this past weekend vs. College of Charleston. Davis went 1.2 innings giving up 0 runs off only 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 3. USC-Upstate swept College of Charleston over the weekend and improved to 6-0 overall to start the year.
Vincent Massaglia, Southern Illinois
Massaglia continues to tear the cover off the baseball this past week, going 5 for 14, hitting .357 with 2 homeruns, a double and collecting 5 RBI's. SIU beat Eastern Illinois in their midweek game and swept Mercer over the weekend to remain perfect at 7-0 overall on the year.
Andrew Zapka, Dayton
Zapka got his 1st collegiate win for the Flyers this past weekend vs. Campbell out of bullpen. Zapka tossed a scoreless 2.2 innings giving up only 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 1. Dayton lost 2 of 3 to Campbell and are now 1-5 overall to start the year.
Dakota Kotowski, Missouri State
Kotowski continued to rack up the power stat lines this past week for the Bears as he went 6 for 21, hitting .286 with a homer, 3 doubles, and had 6 RBI's. Missouri State beat Oral Roberts twice in their midweek games and took 2 of 3 from Central Arkansas over the weekend to start off 4-1 overall on the year.
Jack Carberry, Western Illinois
Carberry threw well in relief vs. #4 ranked, Louisville as he went 2 innings giving up 0 earned runs off only 1 hit while striking out 3. Western Illinois lost 2 of 3 vs. Louisville but that one win over the weekend, was their 1st versus a Top 25 team since 2015. The Leathernecks are 1-2 to start the year.
Parker Stoyan, Saint Louis
Stoyan made his college debut this past weekend vs. North Dakota State. Stoyan came out of the bullpen in the series finale, tossing 2 innings giving up only 1 run off 3 hits and 0 walks while striking out 3. The Billikens however got swept over the weekend vs. the Bison and are 1-6 overall to start the year.
Jack Mahoney, South Carolina
Mahoney made two relief appearances this past week as a freshman RHP for the #17 ranked Gamecocks. Mahoney threw 1.2 innings vs. Winthrop in the midweek game and 1.2 innings vs. Clemson over the weekend. Mahoney in his 3.1 innings combined over the week only gave up 1 earned run off only 3 hits and no walks while striking out 5. The Gamecocks beat Winthrop and won both games vs. Clemson to improve to a perfect 6-0 overall on the year.
Austin Blazevic, SEMO
Blazevic continued to hit past weekend vs. #2 ranked Arkansas going 4 for 15, hitting .267 with a homer, a triple and an RBI. SEMO however lost all four games vs. the Razorbacks and fell to 2-5 overall on the year.
Tanner Mink, South Florida
Mink made his college debut on the mound in relief vs. Florida A&M where he threw a scoreless inning giving up 0 hits and 0 walks. He also made another appearance in relief in the series tossing 0.1 innings and getting the hitter to fly out. South Florida won all four games this past weekend vs. Florida A&M and improved to 4-3 overall on the year.
Brandon McPherson, Northern Illinois
McPherson bounced back in the series vs. Evansville this past weekend. In the series opener he blew the save in the opener only to redeem himself and earn a save in the series finale where he went 3 scoreless innings giving up only 2 hits and walking none while striking out 3. The Huskies lost 2 of 3 in their opening series and are 1-2 overall.
Hunter Mink, Florida
Mink made one relief appearance this past weekend for the #7 ranked Gators. Mink went 1.1 innings vs. Samford giving up 0 earned runs off only 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 1. Florida won all five games it played this past week and are 6-2 overall.
Cam Redding, Saint Louis
Redding went 3 for 11 this past weekend with a homer, a double and 3 RBI's vs. North Dakota State. However it wasn't enough as the Billikens got swept by the Bison and fell to 1-6 overall on the year.
Garrett Goetz, SF Austin
Goetz got his 1st collegiate start for SF Austin at third base in the series finale vs. UT-Arlington. Goetz went 1 for 2. SF Austin beat Oklahoma in the mid week game and lost 2 of 3 vs. UT-Arlington over the weekend and are now 2-2 overall.
Keegan Bates, Valpo
Bates threw one inning of relief vs. Jacksonville State giving up 0 earned runs off 2 hits and no walks. Valpo got swept by Jacksonville State and are now 1-5 overall on the year.
Nick Laxner, Eastern Illinois
Laxner made one relief appearance this past weekend vs. Arkansas Little Rock where he tossed 3 innings giving up only 1 run off 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 1. The Panthers lost to Southern Illinois in the mid week game but took 2 of 3 vs. Little Rock to improve to 4-3 overall on the year.
Austin Ehren, Belmont
Ehren made his college debut vs. North Alabama where he collected his 1st career hit in his 1st collegiate start in the outfield along with collecting 2 walks and an RBI. Ehren got another start in the outfield vs. Northern Kentucky over the weekend and went 0 for 3. Belmont beat North Alabama in the midweek opener and split with Northern Kentucky and Creighton this past weekend and are 3-2 overall to start the year.
Brady Miller, Western Michigan
Miller took the lost in his 1st start of the year vs. Kansas State this past weekend. Miller went 3 innings in his start vs. the Wildcats giving up 3 runs off 6 hits and 1 walk while striking out 6. The Broncos got swept by K-State to start the year 0-3.
Sean Sinisko, Illinois State
Sinisko took the lost in his start vs. #17 ranked Oklahoma State this past weekend. Sinisko threw 5 innings giving up 2 runs off 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. The Redbirds beat SIUE twice in their midweek games but got swept by the Cowboys this past weekend and are 2-3 overall.
Mason Miller, Florida Gulf Coast
Miller got his 1st collegiate start this past weekend vs. Kansas. Miller went 4 innings giving up 3 runs off 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out 3. Florida Gulf Coast took 3 of 4 vs. Kansas this past weekend and improved to 6-2 overall.
Zach Fricke, Valpo
Fricke made one relief appearance this past weekend vs. Jacksonville State tossing 0.2 innings giving up 0 runs off 1 hit while striking out 2. Valpo got swept by Jacksonville State and are 1-5 overall.
