Week #3: Division I College Baseball, Top Tier Alumni Roundup:
This week saw many of our Top Tier Alums have lots of success on the field in Division 1 College Baseball. We had guys turn out huge performances offensively with having multiple homers in the week, along with pitchers throwing absolute gems both in their starts and out of the bullpens. Here are the highlights:
Player of the Week:
Chase Stanke, C, Minnesota
Stanke was on an absolute tear at the plate for the Gophers this past week as he went 6 for 18, hitting .333 blasting 4 homers, 2 doubles and collecting 7 RBI's. This offensive outburst has given Stanke 7 homers on the year to lead his team and stay in the hunt with the Division 1 home run leaders. Minnesota beat St. Thomas and lost to South Dakota State in the midweek games. Then the Gophers entered the Minnesota Cambria Classic where they beat Kansas and lost to #25 West Virginia and #12 Notre Dame to fall to 4-9 overall on the year.

Dakota Kotowski, Missouri State
Kotowski had another huge week at the plate for the Bears as he walloped 3 more homers collecting 7 RBI's and hit .357. Missouri State beat Kansas in a midweek game and lost 2 of 3 to Indiana over the weekend and are 5-6 overall on the year.
Mason Miller, Florida Gulf Coast
Miller threw a gem this past week vs. St. Bonaventure where he picked up his 1st win of the year tossing 5.1 innings giving up 0 runs off only 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out a staggering 9 hitters. Florida Gulf Coast beat St. Bonaventure and swept Seton Hall over the weekend to improve to 10-2 overall.
Chase Centala, UCF
Centala made two relief appearances this past week and absolutely sliced and diced in both of them. He threw in relief vs. Stetson going 2 innings giving up 0 runs off 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3. Then followed that up with a win in relief vs. #2 ranked Ole Miss over the weekend where he went 5 innings giving up 0 runs off only 1 hit and 3 walks while striking out 6. UCF beat Stetson in the midweek game and lost 2 of 3 to Ole Miss over the weekend and are 8-3 overall.
Jeremy Gaines, Texas Southern
Gaines was on fire this past week as he went 8 for 19 at the plate, hitting .421 with a homer, a double, and 5 RBI's. Texas Southern however lost to Tulane in the midweek game and got swept by Sam Houston State to fall to 6-7 overall.
Hunter Mink, USF
Hunter Mink collected to 2 saves this past weekend vs. Brown where he tossed a combined 3 innings giving up 0 runs off 0 hits and 0 walks while striking out 6. The Bulls beat FIU and lost to North Florida in the midweek games and took 2 of 3 vs. Brown over the weekend to improve to 7-4 overall.
Cam Redding, Saint Louis
Redding stayed hot at the plate going 6 for 13, hitting .462 with two doubles and an RBI this past week. SLU lost to SEMO in the midweek game and took 3 of 4 vs. North Colorado this past weekend to improve to 4-6 overall.
Keaton Rice, Bradley
Rice had his best weekend offensively this past weekend going 4 for 8, hitting .500 with a homer, two doubles and collected 3 RBI's. Bradley got swept by SEMO over the weekend and fell to 3-6 overall on the year.
Anthony Mangano, Iowa
Mangano had a great week at the plate as he got two pinch hit appearances in the midweek games and two starts over the weekend going 4 for 8, hitting .500 with a triple and an RBI. Iowa lost to Loras and beat Grinnell in the midweek games and in the Frisco Classic this weekend they beat Washington State and lost to Wichita State and Texas A&M to fall to 6-5 overall.
Garrett Goetz, SF Austin
Goetz went 4 for 7, hitting .571 blasting two homers and collected 3 RBI's. Goetz beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the midweek game and lost 2 of 3 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to fall to 4-6 overall on the year.
Derek Crum, Wake Forest
Crum continued to throw really well out of the bullpen for the Demon Deacons as he made two relief appearances. Crum collected his 1st win of the year in relief vs. Elon as he went two scoreless innings giving up 0 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3. He then followed that up with another scoreless inning of work vs. Central Michigan giving up only 1 hit. Wake Forest beat Elon, UMass-Lowell and Central Michigan this past weekend to improve to 11-0 overall on the year.
Nick Ficarrotta, Florida
Ficarrotta continues to throw really well for the the 14th ranked Gators as he picked up a save vs. #22 Miami throwing 2.2 innings giving up 0 earned runs off 2 hits and 0 walks while striking out 5. Florida beat North Florida and Florida A&M in the midweek and then took 2 of 3 from Miami to improve to 10-3 overall.
Ray Sass, Brown
Sass went 4 for 9, hitting .444 this past weekend with 3 walks. Brown lost 2 of 3 to USF and are now 2-4 overall on the year.
Tanner Mink, USF
Tanner Mink made two relief appearances this past week, throwing a combined 2 innings giving up 0 runs off 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3 vs. North Florida and Brown. USF beat FIU and lost to North Florida in the midweek games and took to 2 of 3 from Brown to improve to 7-4 overall.
Scott Youngbrandt, Saint Louis
Youngbrandt earned his 1st win of the year this past weekend vs. Northern Colorado tossing 5 scoreless innings in his start giving up 7 hits and 1 walk while striking out 5. Saint Louis lost to SEMO in the midweek and took 3 of 4 vs. Northern Colorado to improve to 4-6 overall.
Cam Minacci, Wake Forest
Minacci made two relief appearances for the Demon Deacons this past weekend throwing a total of 3 innings giving up 2 runs off 3 hits and 0 walks while striking out 5. Wake Forest beat Elon, UMass-Lowell and Central Michigan to improve to 11-0 overall.
Ben Rosengard, Rice
Rosengard went 5 for 14, hitting .357 with a double and 2 RBI's. Rice beat Baylor in the midweek but lost 3 of 4 to Harvard over the weekend to fall to 3-9 overall on the year.
Kevin Davis, USC-Upstate
Davis took the the loss in the midweek vs. Clemson in the midweek game this past week tossing 1.2 innings of relief giving up 2 runs off 4 hits and 0 walks while striking out 4. Davis bounced back nicely getting a save on the weekend vs. Xavier tossing 2.1 innings of scoreless baseball off 0 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3. The Spartans lost to Clemson in the midweek and lost 2 of 3 to Xavier over the weekend to fall to 7-4 overall.
Marc DeGusipe, Florida Atlantic
DeGusipe made two relief appearances this past week. He threw 3 scoreless innings vs. Michigan giving up only 2 hits and 0 walks while striking out 5. Then he threw 2 more innings of relief vs. Fordham over the weekend giving up only 1 run off 1 hit and 0 walks while striking out 1. FAU split with Michigan in the midweek games and swept Fordham to improve to 9-4 overall.
Paul Bergstrom, Creighton
Bergstrom made two relief appearances this past weekend vs. St. Thomas where he threw a combined 4.1 innings giving up only 1 run off 7 hits and 0 walks while striking out 5. Creighton beat St. Thomas twice and improved to 4-5 overall.
Andrew Zapka, Dayton
Zapka earned his 1st save of the year vs. Belmont this past weekend where he went 3.1 innings in relief giving up 2 runs off 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4. Dayton lost to Eastern Kentucky in the midweek game and took 2 of 3 from Belmont over the weekend to improve to 7-3 overall.
Vito Valincius, South Carolina
Valincius got his 1st collegiate hit this past week vs. Appalachian State where he went 1 for 3 with an RBI. South Carolina beat App State in the midweek game and got swept by 16th ranked Clemson over the weekend to fall to 7-4 overall.
Jack Mahoney, South Carolina
Mahoney got two pinch-hit appearances vs. 16th ranked Clemson this past weekend where he went 1 for 2, but the Gamecocks got swept by Clemson and are are now 7-4 overall.
Ryan Howe, Purdue
Howe got one pinch-hit appearance vs. Charlotte this past week going 1 for 1. Purdue beat Charlotte and swept Longwood to improve to 12-0 overall on the year.
Michael Oh, Charlotte
Oh made one relief appearance this past week tossing 1 inning vs. Western Illinois giving up 0 runs off 0 hits and 0 walks while striking out 2. Charlotte lost to Purdue and beat Gardner-Webb in the midweek games and swept Western Illinois over the weekend to improve 7-4 overall.
Conner Tomasic, Michigan State
Tomasic threw 2 innings of relief total vs. #12 ranked Notre Dame and #25 ranked West Virginia giving up 1 run off 1 hit and 1 walk. Michigan State beat Kansas and West Virginia and lost to Notre Dame in the Minnesota Cambria Classic this past weekend to improve to 5-5 overall.
Tony Livermore, Northwestern
Livermore collected 2 hits this past weekend with a double and 3 RBI's. The Wildcats lost 3 of 4 to Cincinnati to fall to 2-10 overall.
Antonio Brown, Mercer
Brown collected 2 hits this past week as Mercer beat Florida State in the midweek game and swept UNC-Asheville to improve to 11-1 overall.
Bryce Barnett, Xavier
Barnett earned a no-decision in his start this past weekend vs. USC-Upstate tossing 3 innings giving up 2 runs off 6 hits and 1 walk while striking out 1. Xavier took 2 of 3 from USC-Upstate to improve to 2-9 overall on the year.
