Here are the highlights from Week #3 in college baseball at the D2/D3, NAIA and JUCO level by our Top Tier Alums:
Top Tier Alumni Player of the Week:
Colin Summerhill, C, Triton (JUCO)
Summerhill continued to swing one of the hottest bats in JUCO baseball this past week. Summerhill went 12 for 16, hitting a staggering .750 with 4 doubles, 3 homers with 11 RBI's and 5 stolen bases. The Trojans beat everyone they played this past week, beating Blackhawk twice, Moriane Valley and swept Bay College to improve to 8-6 overall on the year.
Best of the Rest in College Baseball (D2/D3/NAIA/JUCO)
Johnny Hernandez, C, Blackhawk (JUCO)
Hernandez collected a hit in every game he played in this past week for Blackhawk, which was his debut in college baseball. Hernandez went 6 for 18, hitting .500 this past week with 3 homers and 8 RBI's. Blackhawk lost to Triton twice and split with John Wood to start the year 2-4 overall.
Logan Mueller, RHP, John A. Logan (JUCO)
Mueller got a start this past week vs. Southeastern Illinois and went 4.2 innings giving up only one run off 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out 7. John A. Logan split with Southeastern Illinois and are now 14-4 overall on the year.
Jake Lotz, LHP, Lewis (Division II)
Lotz made two relief appearances this past weekend vs. Quincy and earned a save in one of the appearances. In total, Lotz threw 3 innings giving up 0 runs off 0 hits and 3 walks while striking out 4. Lewis split with Quincy over the weekend and are now 4-4 overall on the year.
Michael Schalasky, RHP, UIndy (Division II)
Schalasky picked a win in relief in the series finale vs. Missouri S&T. Schalasky went 2.1 innings giving up 0 runs off 0 hits and 0 walks while striking out 1. UIndy split with Missouri S&T and are now 3-7 overall on the year.
Max Engstrom, LHP, Indiana Wesleyan (NAIA)
Engstrom threw 3 innings in relief this past week and gave 0 runs off 0 hits and 1 walk while striking out 5. Indiana Wesleyan swept Mt. Vernon Nazarene and beat Indiana-South Bend twice to improve to 16-7 overall on the year.
Brenden Heiss, RHP, Southeastern (NAIA)
Heiss made two relief appearances this past week for the #1 ranked team in the nation for NAIA. Heiss threw a total of 2 innings giving up 0 runs off 0 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3. Southeastern beat Bellevue, Dordt and Wayne State to improve to 24-1 overall on the year.
Nicholas Talarico, INF, Case Western (Division III)
Talarico went 2 for 5 in their opening weekend with a double and 3 RBI's to help them beat Hiram twice to start 2-0 on the year.
Anthony Rios, C, Lewis (Division II)
Rios went 5 for 17, hitting .294 this past weekend with a homer, a double and collected 3 RBI's. Lewis split with Quincy and are 4-4 overall on the year.
Mason Kasprisin, RHP, St. Charles (JUCO)
Kasprisin made two relief appearances this past week, throwing a total of 3.2 innings giving up 0 runs off 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out 7. St. Charles is 2-4 overall on the year.
Brett Taucher, RHP, Quincy
Taucher made two relief appearances this past weekend, throwing a total of 2 innings giving up 2 runs off 4 hits and 0 walks while striking out 3. Quincy split with Lewis and are 5-3 overall on the year.
Jimmy Carey, INF, St. Charles (JUCO)
Carey collected 4 hits in opening week for the Cougars with 2 RBI's and 2 stolen bases. St. Charles is 2-4 overall to start the year.
Noah Manning, RHP, Iowa Western (JUCO)
Manning made one relief appearance this past weekend, throwing 1.1 innings giving up 0 runs off 0 hits and 0 walks while striking out 2. Iowa Western beat Des Moines and Coffeyville twice to improve to 9-4 overall on the year.
Khyle Radcliffe, OF, Allen County (JUCO)
Radcliffe went 3 for 11, hitting .273 with two doubles and RBI to help Allen County beat Ottawa twice and helped them take 3 of 4 from Neosho to improve to 13-3 overall on the year.
TJ Byrd, OF, Young Harris (Division II)
Byrd went 2 for 6 with 3 RBI's to help Young Harris sweep Flager over the weekend and improve them to 7-6 overall on the year.
Daniel Brannigan, RHP, Dominican (Division III)
Brannigan got one relief appearance in opening weekend for the Stars, where he went 1 scoreless inning giving up 0 hits and 1 walk while striking out 1. Dominican got swept by North Park and are 0-4 overall to start the year.
Robert Chayka, OF, Kentucky Wesleyan (Division II)
Chayka went 2 for 9 this past weekend with a double vs. the 23rd ranked team Northwood. Kentucky Wesleyan lost 2 of 3 and fell to 3-3 overall on the year.
Jack Lochner, OF, Lindenwood (Division II)
Lochner went 3 for 11, hitting .273 this past weekend for the 6th ranked team in the nation. Lindenwood swept William Jewell and are now 8-0 overall on the year.
Connor Tomasic, RHP/INF, South Suburban (JUCO)
Tomasic went 3 for 8 with 2 RBI's this past weekend at the plate. Tomasic also got a win on the mound as well, throwing 6 innings giving up 3 earned runs off 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3. South Suburban improves to 10-6 overall on the year.
Brian Lyle, INF, University of Chicago (Division III)
Lyle collected 2 hits this past weekend with 2 RBI's but Chicago lost both to Calvin and beat Wheaton on opening weekend to move to 1-2 overall on the year.
Nick Baldassano, INF, Aurora (Division III)
Baldassano collected 2 hits with an RBI this past weekend to help his team beat Cornell twice and Ripon twice to improve to 7-0 overall on the year.
Channing Young, RHP, St. Petersburg (JUCO)
Young made one start this past weekend tossing 6.1 innings giving up 4 earned runs off 9 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6. St. Petersburg is 15-10 overall on the year.
