Week #3 in College Baseball
Top Performances of Top Tier Alumni: Bobby Seymour, Wake Forest hits over .500 for the week for the Demon Deacons. 

Bobby Seymour, Wake Forest @bobbyseymour127

Seymour absolutely ripped the cover off baseballs this past week and the Demon Deacons went on to win all five games they played in, beating Elon and UNCG in the midweek and sweeping Furman on the weekend. Seymour went 10 for 19, hitting .526 with 4 doubles and 9 RBI’s. Seymour now leads Wake Forest in batting average at .375 and leads in doubles and RBI’s on the team as well. Wake Forest is now 8-4 overall on the year after winning 5 games this past week.

Austin Blazevic, SEMO
Blazevic had multiple hits in every game played this past week and was a single man wrecking crew the whole weekend vs. IPFW. Blazevic was named OVC Co-Player of the week for his efforts going 9 for 18, hitting .500 with a triple, two doubles and 5 RBI’s. SEMO lost to #1 ranked Vanderbilt in the mid-week game and won all three on the weekend vs. IPFW. SEMO is now 8-3 overall on the year, and Blazevic leads the team in almost every category along with team leading .395 batting average.

Cooper Johnson, Ole Miss @coopj325
Johnson tore it up this weekend vs. Long Beach State going 4 for 9, hitting .444 with a double and RBI and a hit in every game. Ole Miss swept Long Beach State over the weekend and beat UT-Martin during the mid-week. Ole Miss is still currently ranked 10th in the nation and are 8-2 overall now. Johnson is hitting .346 on the year so far.

Jordan Libman, Illinois State @Jordan_Libman
Libman collected multiple hits in every game this past week helping the Redbirds beat Central Arkansas in the beginning of the week and take 2 of 3 from Murray State on the weekend. Libman went 8 for 17, hitting .471 with a homerun, two doubles and 4 RBI’s. The Redbirds are now 7-3 overall and Libman is hitting .325 on the year.

Matt Sullivan, Chicago State
Sullivan went 5 for 10 this past weekend, hitting .500 with a triple, a double and 6 RBI’s to help the Cougars win their first two games of the year vs. Villanova. Chicago State is now 2-5 overall to start the year.

Matt Burch, Old Dominion
Burch continued his dominance at the plate this past week for Old Dominion as they beat Norfolk State and VMI in the mid-week, then turned around and swept Rutgers on the weekend. Burch went 6 for 15, hitting .400 with a double, two stolen bases and 4 RBI’s. Old Dominion is now 8-2 overall and Burch leads the team with a .436 batting average on the year.

Stephen Hill, Morehead State 
Hill had a really good offensive weekend vs. NJIT, he went 6 for 13 this past week, hitting .462 with a homerun and 7 RBI’s. Morehead State beat Charlotte and NJIT twice to improve to 9-1 overall on the year.

Ryan Altenberger, Xavier @RAltenberger
Altenberger had a great offensive week this past week helping the Musketeers win all 4 games beating #8 Louisville during the midweek and sweeping Lipscomb over the weekend. Altenberger went 5 for 13, hitting .385 with a homerun, 4 RBI’s and 2 stolen bases. Altenberger is hitting .344 on the year and Xavier has improved to 5-5 overall.

Scott Youngbrandt, Saint Louis @syoungbrandt15
Youngbrandt got his 1st win in relief this past weekend going 0.1 innings giving up 0 runs on 0 hits vs. Sacred Heart. Youngbrandt got the start as the designated hitter vs. Georgetown and went off, going 3 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI’s. Saint Louis beat Sacred Heart and Georgetown this past weekend while losing to Stetson and getting them back to 5-5 overall.

Kellen Sarver, Illinois @Sarver_Kellen
Sarver collected a hit in every game this past weekend, going 3 for 6, hitting .500 with a double and 5 walks. Illinois lost to #21 ranked Coastal Carolina and Uconn, while beating Northeastern. Sarver is leading the Fighting Illini team in average hitting .391 on the year, as Illinois is now 7-2 overall as a team.

Jeremy Gaines, Illinois State @Jgaines_
Gaines went 4 for 12, hitting .333 over the week with an RBI. Illinois State took 2 of 3 vs. Murray State over the weekend and are 7-3 overall. Gaines is hitting at hot clip for the Redbirds, with a batting average of .393.

Zach Frieling, Saint Louis @ZFrieling
Frieling went 3 for 10, hitting .300 over the weekend with 2 walks and an RBI. Saint Louis won 2 of 3 games beating Sacred Heart and Georgetown to move to 5-5 overall.

Mark DiLuia, Maryland @MDiLuia24
DiLuia made three relief appearances this past week. DiLuia went a total of 3 innings in his 3 appearances giving up 0 runs on 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 4. Maryland went on to beat VCU in the mid-week and lost 2 of 3 vs. Louisiana-Lafayette over the weekend. The Terps are now 6-4 overall on the year.

Keaton Rice, Bradley @ricekrispy_
Rice went 3 for 11 with 2 RBI’s this past weekend vs. UTSA. Bradley took 2 of 3 vs. UTSA and are now 6-3 overall. Rice is hitting .308 on the year right now.

Nick Menken, Virginia Tech @Nickmenken
Menken went 2 for 5 with a double over the weekend vs. Bryant. Virginia Tech lost 2 of 3 vs. Bryant and are now 8-2 overall on the year.

Brian Schrimmer, Bradley 
Schrimmer got a save on the weekend vs. UTSA where he went 1 inning giving up 0 runs on 0 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2. Bradley took 2 of 3 vs. UTSA and are now 6-3 overall.

Brett Newberg, Austin Peay @BrettNewb
Newberg picked up a big first win in relief, helping the Govs beat #1 ranked, Vanderbilt. Newberg in the win vs. Vandy went 3 innings giving up only one run on 2 hits and 2 walks whiles striking out 5. Newberg got one more inning of work in vs. Indiana State as they lost both to Indiana State and are 3-6 overall now.

Robby McGaha, USC-Upstate @robbymc24
McGaha went 4 for 15 this past week with a triple and 3 RBI’s to help the Spartans beat Davidson and take 2 of 3 from Ohio University over the weekend. USC-Upstate is now 5-6 overall on the year.

Nick Jones, Memphis
Jones hit his 1st collegiate homer in a pinch-hit appearance vs. #12 ranked Arkansas in the mid-week. Jones got a start vs. Middle Tennessee State over the weekend at DH where he went 0 for 2. Memphis lost to Arkansas and won 2 of 3 vs. MTSU and moved to 4-6 overall on the year.

Jack Carberry, Western Illinois @jackcarberry12
Carberry made one relief appearance this past weekend, going 1.2 innings vs. Southern Illinois giving up 0 runs on 2 hits and 3 walks. Western Illinois got swept by SIU and fell to 2-7 overall on the year.

Joe Santoro, Army 
Santoro got one inning of relief work in this past week vs. St. Joesph’s, giving up 0 runs on 0 hits and 1 walk. Army split with St. Joseph’s and beat Tulane and lost to Fairleigh Dickinson to move to 5-4 overall on the year.

Trey Schramm, Xavier @tschramm13
Schramm got 2 innings of relief work on the mound this past weekend vs. Lipscomb where he gave up 1 run on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 1. Xavier swept Lipscomb over the weekend to improve to 5-5 overall on the year.

Andrew Wilhite, Minnesota @wilhit3
Wilhite went 1 for 3 this past weekend vs. NC State. Minnesota got swept and are now 2-8 overall on the year.

Clay Thompson, Oakland @claythompson246
Thompson went 1 for 3 with and RBI vs. Miami (OH) over the weekend. Oakland got swept by Miami (OH) and are now 0-10 overall on the year.

Dakota Kotowski, Missouri State @kotowski24
Kotowski got his 1st collegiate at bat this past week as a pinch-hitter vs. Central Arkansas, where he got a single. Missouri State beat Central Arkansas twice and lost twice to UC-Irvine over the weekend to fall to 3-7 overall on the year.

Mitch Vogrin, Illinois State
Vogrin made one relief appearance giving up 0 runs on 1 hit while striking out 1 in one inning of work vs. Murray State. ISU took 2 of 3 vs. Murray State and are now 7-3 overall.

Louis Niemerg, Maryville @LouisNiemerg

Niemerg had a really good weekend at the plate getting a hit in every game, going 4 for 12, hitting .333 with two doubles and 7 RBI’s. However, it wasn’t enough as Maryville dropped 2 of 3 vs. Winona State over the weekend and slipped to 2-9 overall on the year.

Anthony Rios, Lewis @rios_baseball12
Rios went 3 for 3 with a double and 3 RBI’s as Lewis split with Upper Iowa over the weekend in a 2-game set due to weather. Lewis is now 5-4 overall on the year.

Jacob Nagel, Bellarmine @jacobnag14
Nagel got a win vs. Urbana earlier in the week. In that outing, he threw 5 innings giving up only 2 runs on 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4. Nagel threw again on the weekend vs. Hillsdale where he took a no-decision after tossing 4 innings giving up 4 runs on 7 hits and 1 walk while striking out 5. Bellarmine beat Urbana, Parkside and Hillsdale twice this week and improved to 6-4 overall on the year.

Peyton Isaacson, Saint Leo @TheMagnum_PI
Isaacson went 3 for 13 this past weekend but collected more power numbers, hitting another homer, a double and collecting two more RBI’s. Saint Leo however lost 2 of 3 vs. Barry this past weekend and slipped to 10-7 overall for the year. Isaacson is 3rd on the team in batting average, hitting .304 on the year.

Mitch Owens, Augustana 

Owens had a huge offensive finish to the week in Winter Haven, Florida for the Vikings. Owens collected a hit in all three games to finish, going 5 for 11, hitting .455 with a double and 3 RBI’s to help the Vikings split with Cabrini and beat Neuman to finish with a record of 7-1 on their trip to Florida.

Brian Lyle, University of Chicago 
Lyle went 4 for 6 on opening weekend for them vs. Transylvania. U of Chicago took 2 of 3 from Transylvania to start the year 2-1.

Nate Tholl, Webster
Tholl collected a hit in every game this past week, going 4 for 14 with two doubles, two RBI’s and two stolen bases. Webster took 2 of 3 from Transylvania and two from Buena Vista University to improve to 4-1 overall on the year.

Matthew Kann, Franklin & Marshall
Kann only had one game last week vs. Gallaudet where they won big moving them to 3-0 overall on the year. Kann went 1 for 2 with 2 walks in that game.

Ben Rosengard, University of Chicago
Rosengard got his 1st collegiate hit, and it was a pinch-hit double in his 1st ever game. U of Chicago went on to take 2 of 3 from Transylvania over the weekend.

Michael Oh, NIACC @datpanda42

Oh was absolutely electric on the mound this past weekend vs. Northeast Mississippi CC. Oh picked up the win tossing 7 strong innings giving up only 2 runs on 6 hits while striking out 10. NIACC split the series with Northeast Mississippi CC to move them to 2-4 overall on the year.

Andrew Zapka, Heartland CC @Andrew_Zapka
Zapka was the starter for Game 1 for the Hawks and he impressed as he did last year. Zapka went 5 innings giving up only 1 run off 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6. Heartland who is ranked 6th in the nation split with Frontier CC to start the season.

Kevin Davis, Olney Central College 
Davis picked up a win vs. Garrett College over the weekend on their Myrtle Beach Trip. Davis went 5 innings in his start giving up only one run on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6. Olney Central College went 5-1 on their Myrtle Beach Trip and improved to 8-2 overall on the year.

Ashton Creal, John A. Logan CC @cg_creal
Creal went 5 for 6 vs. South Suburban CC earlier in the week with a triple, 2 RBI’s and 6 stolen bases. Creal was sidelined due injury the rest of the week but the Vols kept it rolling taking both games from South Suburban, 2 of 3 from Triton and beating Kankakee once to improve to 11-1 overall on the year.

Robert Chayka, Spoon River CC
Chayka collected a hit in every game this past weekend, going 5 for 11, hitting .455. However, it wasn’t enough as Spoon River dropped all three games to Meridan and are 0-5 overall to start the year.

Shakur Jackson, Heartland CC
Jackson went 2 for 4 on opening weekend for the Hawks. Heartland split with Frontier CC to start off 1-1 for the season.

Brandon Williams, Polk State CC
Williams made two relief appearances this past week. In his two appearances, Williams threw a total of 4 innings giving up only 1 run off 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out 1. Polk State beat Florida Southern, Rollins and St. Petersburg only losing to Santa Fe. Polk State is now 11-10 overall on the year.

Vincent Massaglia, Illinois Central College
Massaglia collected 2 hits this past weekend in opening play for them, both were extra base hits, one a homerun another a double. Massaglia also collected 2 RBI’s but it wasn’t enough as ICC started off the year losing all four games and are 0-4 overall.



Malcolm Grady, Campbellsville @mjgrady96

Grady made two relief appearances this past week, going a total of 1.2 innings giving up 0 runs of 2 hits while striking out 5. The Tigers however lost twice to Tennessee Wesleyan and split with Siena Heights to fall to 5-7 overall on the year.

Chris Cuppini, Judson @ChrisCuppini
Cuppini made two starts on their trip down to Florida this past week. In two starts he went a total of 10 innings giving up 5 earned runs off 14 hits and 5 walks while striking out 12. Judson didn’t win too many games on the trip and fell to 3-8 overall to start the year.
