Week #4 Top Tier Alumni Roundup: Top Performances in College Baseball
Sam Cottingham-Beard, Western Illinois
Cottingham-Beard helped his team get their 1st win of the year vs. Dayton this past weekend. He threw 3.2 innings of relief where he gave up 0 earned runs on 2 hits while striking out 7 Flyers batters. This outstanding performance will hopefully help the Leathernecks gain some momentum heading into their next week.
Marty Napleton, St. Joseph’s (IN)
Napleton had a huge week at the plate at the RussMatt Invitational in Florida, going 11 for 17, hitting a staggering .647. In those games he had 2 doubles and 6 RBI’s. The Pumas are now 11-2 on the year.
Brett Shimanovsky, Saint Louis
Shimanovsky got the win in relief vs. NIU this past weekend, tossing 3 innings giving up 0 runs off of 2 hits, and 1 walk while striking out 5. Saint Louis took 2 of 3 from Northern Illinois this past weekend moving them to 13-2 on the year.
Matt Sullivan, Chicago State
Sullivan swung the bat really well this past weekend, even though they only got two games in vs. UIC due to the weather. But in those two games, he went 4 for 7 hitting .571 with a double and an RBI. They lost both to UIC.
Ben Browdy, Wash U
Browdy collected hits in every game this past weekend going 6 for 12, hitting .500 with a home run and 6 RBI’s.
Michael Kruse, Benedictine (KS)
Kruse had a great weekend on the mound and at the plate. On the mound, he got the win throwing 5 innings giving up 0 runs on 6 hits, 1 walk while striking out 4. Then at the plate, he went 4 for 9 hitting .444 with a hit in every game, collecting a double and 2 RBI’s.
Mitch Vogrin, Illinois State
Vogrin got the win in relief, tossing 3 innings giving up 0 runs on 1 hit while striking out 2 vs. Western Kentucky this past weekend.
Michael Oh, North Iowa Area CC
Oh got his 1st collegiate win this past weekend going 5 innings giving up 0 runs on 1 hit while striking out 4 vs. Northern Oklahoma Enid.
Brady Huffman, Illinois State
Huffman collected his 1st collegiate win going 4 innings giving up 1 earned run on 5 hits while striking out 2. The Redbirds took 2 of 3 vs. Western Kentucky this past weekend.
Chris Myjak, Butler
Myjak collected his 4th save of the year going 2 innings of relief vs. Furman to help the Bulldogs get to 9-6 on the year. In his 2 inning save he gave up 0 runs on 2 hits while striking out 2. Myjak continues be a staple in the back end of the bullpen for the Bulldogs.
Brian Musielak, Concordia-Chicago
Musielak collected 3 saves this past week at the RussMatt Invitational in Florida in 4 appearances. He went a total of 5.2 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits, 2 walks while striking out one.
Quinn Snarskis, Saint Joseph’s (IN)
Snarskis picked up his 2nd and 3rd win of the year this past week at the RussMatt Invitational in Florida. In the his 1st start in Florida he went 6.2 innings giving up 3 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 6. In his 2nd start in Florida he went 7 strong innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 4.
Malcolm Grady, Wabash Valley CC
Grady picked up the win this past weekend tossing 6 innings giving up 0 runs on 2 hits while striking out 5 vs. South Suburban CC.
Jesse Forestell, Western Michigan
Forestell went 5 for 13, hitting .385 this past weekend down in Port Charlotte, Florida helping the Broncos beat Northeastern and Villanova while losing to Georgetown. On the weekend he collected a double and 3 RBI’s.
Jordan Libman, Illinois State
Libman continued his hot streak of hitting going 3 for 8 in two games hitting a solid .375 vs. Western Kentucky.
Jacob Nagel, Bellarmine
Nagel threw 2.2 innings of relief this past weekend giving up 0 runs on 1 hit while striking out 1. Bellarmine won 3 of 4 this week vs. Lincoln Memorial and Tiffin University.
Sean Hjelle, Kentucky
Hjelle got his 2nd win of the season going 5 innings allowing 3 hits and striking out a season high 6 batters. Only a pair of hit batters and a walk contributed to the four runs he allowed on the outing. Other than that, Hjelle was practically unhittable through his other 4 innings of work. The Wildcats swept Miami (OH) on the weekend.
Collin Clayton, John Logan CC
Clayton went 3 for 9 this past weekend hitting .333 with a double and 3 RBI’s. The Vols swept Southeastern Illinois CC and are now 13-5 on the year.
Will Kincanon, Indiana State
Kincanon got the win vs. #12 ranked, Washington this past weekend, going 8.2 innings in his start giving up 2 earned runs on 10 hits, while striking out 11. Indiana State went 2-2 on the weekend vs. Washington.
Cal Coughlin, TCU
Coughlin got 1 inning of relief work in this past weekend giving up 0 runs on 0 hits while striking out 2. TCU lost 2 of 3 vs. UC-Irvine but are still 12-3 on the year.
Brenden Heiss, Arkansas
Heiss made his 1st collegiate debut out of the bullpen going 2 innings vs. Louisiana-Monroe giving up 1 run on 1 hit while striking out 1. Arkansas is 12-4 on the year.
Ben Dickey, Northwestern
Dickey collected 3 hits on the weekend to help the Wildcats take 2 of 3 from Portland. Of those 3 hits he got a double, a triple and 3 RBI’s.
Zak Wade, DePauw
Wade had a hit in both games played this past weekend with a home run and 3 RBI’s. This helped DePauw take 2 of 3 vs. Manchester.
Joe Santoro, Army
Santoro made his 1st collegiate appearance out of the bullpen going 1 inning allowing 0 runs on 1 hit, 2 walks while striking out 1.
Peyton Isaacson, Coastal Carolina
Isaacson collected his 1st collegiate home run, of the walk-off style helping Coastal take 2 of 3 vs. Illinois this past weekend.
Anthony Drago, Illinois
Drago hit a 3-run bomb this past weekend vs. #21 ranked, Coastal Carolina to give them their only win on the weekend.
Kyle Colletta, Northern Kentucky
Colletta collected a hit in every game this past weekend vs. Radford, but they lost 2 of 3.
Brett Newberg, Austin Peay
Newberg went 2 for 3 on the weekend vs. Jacksonville State, while hitting his 1st collegiate home run in one of those at bats to help the Govs sweep Jacksonville State.
Robert Kametas, Saint Joseph’s (IN)
Kametas got his 1st appearance of the year, going 1 inning giving up 0 runs on 2 hits. Saint Joe’s went 5-1 in the RussMatt Invitational this past week.
Dalton Hottle, Lewis
Hottle made 2 appearances this past week. The first was in a start where he got a No-Decision, tossing 4.2 innings giving up 2 runs on 2 hits, walking 4 and striking out 5. His 2nd appearance of the week was in relief, where he went 1 inning giving up 0 runs on 0 hits and helping the Flyers get a win vs. Walsh.
Eric Giltz, SIUE
Giltz collected 4 hits this past week with a double and 2 RBI’s helping SIUE take 2 of 3 from Murray State.
Kevin Sullivan, Middle Tennessee State
Sullivan collected 4 hits this past week with a double and 3 RBI’s. MTSU beat Memphis twice during the mid-week and lost 2 of 3 vs. Indiana this past weekend.
