Week #4 in College Baseball
Top Performances from Top Tier Alumni: Jesse Forestell, Western Michigan and Ryan Altenberger, Xavier were one-man wrecking crews for their respective teams at the plate, both hitting .500 for the week.


Ryan Altenberger, Xavier
Altenberger was named Big East Player of the Week after his explosive offensive weekend vs. #23 ranked Arizona State, but it was not enough as Xavier got swept by the Sun Devils and slipped to 5-8 overall. Altenberger was not be denied the whole weekend though as he went 5 for 10, hitting .500 with a homer, 4 doubles and 2 RBI’s. On the year, Altenberger is leading the team in most offensive categories, as he is hitting .381 with 5 doubles, 2 home runs and has 6 stolen bases.

Jesse Forestell, Western Michigan
Forestell was not to be denied this past week. Forestell was on fire at the plate the whole week going 9 for 18, hitting .500 with 2 homers, a triple, 2 doubles and 11 RBI’s in 5 games. Western Michigan beat St. Bonaventure, Villanova and Georgetown during the mid-week and lost 2 of 3 vs. North Florida over the weekend to improve to 5-10 overall. Forestell on the year, is hitting .320 for the Broncos with 4 home runs and 18 RBI’s.

Neil Lambert, Bowling Green
Lambert continued to hit well this past weekend, going 4 for 7 in a doubleheader vs. Cincinnati. Bowling Green lost both to fall to 2-9 overall. Lambert continues to be one of the few bright spots for the Falcons this year as he is hitting .325 on the team.

Matt Sullivan, Chicago State
Sullivan collected multiple hits in two games vs. UIC this past weekend, going 4 for 9 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Chicago State split with UIC and are now 4-7 overall on the year.

Kellen Sarver, Illinois
Sarver had a great week again at the plate for the Fighting Illini going 5 for 15, hitting .333 with 3 RBI’s. Illinois went on to sweep Grand Canyon over the weekend and improved to 10-3 overall. Sarver is hitting .368 for the year so far for Illinois who continues to be a Big Ten top contender.

Collin Clayton, Missouri State
Clayton had a solid weekend at the plate, going 3 for 9 hitting .333 with a home run. Missouri State however continued to struggle as they got swept by Arkansas State and are now 3-10 overall.

Dakota Kotowski, Missouri State
Kotowski got his first collegiate start in the outfield vs. Arkansas State over the weekend and he made a big impact going 1 for 2 with a 2-run homer, which was his first of the year. As a freshman in only 4 at bats, he is hitting .500 and continues to be a big threat offensively for the Bears.

Brian Schrimmer, Bradley
Schrimmer made one relief appearance this past weekend vs. UNLV where he pitched a scoreless 2 innings giving up only 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 1. Bradley however lost 2 of 3 vs. UNLV  and are now 7-5 overall. Schrimmer on the year has a 2.25 ERA and one save.

Brett Newberg, Austin Peay
Newberg made one relief appearance vs. Murray State this past weekend, but made the most of it, collecting a save in his 1 inning of work giving up 0 runs on 0 hits. Austin Peay split with Murray State over the weekend and beat Lipscomb in the midweek and are now 5-7 overall and 1-1 in the OVC. Newberg is 1-2 on the year with a save and 15 strikeouts in 12.1 innings of work.

Michael Sebby, Illinois State
Sebby made one relief appearance this past weekend vs. #1 ranked, Vanderbilt and he threw a scoreless 1.1 innings giving up only 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 1. The Redbirds lost 2 of 3 vs. Vandy and are now 8-5 overall.

Cal Coughlin, TCU
Coughlin made one relief appearance this past weekend vs. Long Beach State, throwing a scoreless 1 inning off 0 hits and 1 walk while striking out 1. TCU, who is ranked #20 nationally took 2 of 3 from Long Beach State over the weekend and improved to 9-5 overall.

Bobby Seymour, Wake Forest
Seymour collected 6 hits this past week in five games with 3 RBI’s. However, the Demon Deacons lost twice to #16 ranked Coastal Carolina in the mid-week games and lost 2 of 3 vs. Notre Dame over the weekend to slip to 9-8 overall and 1-2 in the ACC. Seymour is still tearing it up at the plate hitting .343 with 7 doubles and 21 RBI’s on the year.

Keegan Bates, Valpo
Bates made one relief appearance pitching a scoreless one inning giving up 0 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2. Valpo got swept by South Carolina over the weekend.

Cam Redding, Saint Louis
Redding went 2 for 6, hitting .333 over the weekend vs. Western Illinois. However, SLU lost 2 of 3 vs. the Leathernecks and fell to 6-7 overall. Redding is hitting .385 on the year as a freshman for Saint Louis.

Willie Bourbon, Northwestern
Bourbon went 3 for 10, hitting .300 with 2 RBI’s over the weekend vs. Missouri. The Cats however got swept by Missouri and fell to 4-9 overall on the year.

Cooper Johnson, Ole Miss
Johnson picked up 2 big hits and 2 RBI’s this past weekend to help the Rebels sweep UAB and improve to 12-3 overall and a #9 national ranking. Johnson is hitting .297 on the year for the Rebels.

Zach Frieling, Saint Louis
Frieling went 2 for 7 with a double and an RBI this past weekend vs. Western Illinois. SLU lost 2 of 3 vs. the Leathernecks and fell to 6-7 overall. Frieling is hitting .268 on the year as their starting 3B.

Scott Youngbrandt, Saint Louis
Youngbrandt got two starts as the DH this past weekend going 2 for 7 with a double and an RBI. SLU lost 2 of 3 vs. Western Illinois and are 6-7 overall. Youngbrandt is hitting .294 as a freshman in the Billikens lineup.

Austin Blazevic, Southeast Missouri State
Blazevic collected 3 hits this past week with double and 2 RBI’s. SEMO however lost 2 of 3 this weekend vs. UT-Martin and slipped to 10-5 overall and 1-2 in the OVC. Blazevic is hitting .340 on the year for SEMO.

Trey Torain, George Washington
Torain got his 1st start in the outfield this past weekend vs. UMass-Lowell. Torain went 2 for 4 in his debut with a stolen base. Torain got in two more times over the weekend and the Colonials took 2 of 3 vs. UMass-Lowell to improve to 7-6 overall.

Jordan Libman, Illinois State
Libman collected 3 hits this past weekend vs. #1 ranked, Vanderbilt. ISU lost 2 of 3 vs. Vandy and are now 8-5 overall. Libman is having a great season, hitting .314 as a mainstay in the outfield for the Redbirds.

Stephen Hill, Morehead State
Hill collected 3 hits this past weekend vs. Belmont and is hitting .281 on the year. Morehead State however lost to Louisville in the mid-week game and lost 2 of 3 vs. Belmont over the weekend to slip to 10-4 overall and 1-2 in the OVC.

David Craan, Illinois
Craan got made two pinch-hit appearances this weekend going 1 for 2. Illinois swept Grand Canyon and improved to 10-3 overall. Craan is hitting .286 on the year.

Steven Hamer, Miami (OH)
Hamer made is 1st collegiate relief appearance this past weekend vs. Youngstown State, where he went 1 inning giving up 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 1. Miami (OH) took all four games from Youngstown State to improve to 11-3 overall on the year.

Mitch Vogrin, Illinois State
Vogrin made one relief appearance vs. #1 ranked, Vanderbilt this past weekend giving up 0 runs in 0.2 innings while striking out 1. ISU lost 2 of 3 vs. Vandy and are now 8-5 overall.

Patrick Rumoro, Louisville
Rumoro collected his 1st hit of the 2019 season with a pinch-hit single vs. Boston College over the weekend. Louisville ranked #8 nationally took 2 of 3 vs. Boston College this past weekend and improved to 11-4 overall and 2-1 in the ACC.

Mark DiLuia, Maryland
DiLuia made three relief appearances this past week going a total of 3.2 innings giving up 3 runs on 2 hits and 3 walks while striking out 2. Maryland beat Delaware in the mid-week game and took 2 of 3 from Stetson over the weekend to improve to 9-5 overall. DiLuia on the year, has a 3.68 ERA.

Brady Miller, Western Michigan
Miller made one relief appearance this past weekend vs. North Florida. Miller went 0.2 innings giving up 0 runs on 0 hits while striking out 2. Western Michigan lost 2 of 3 over the weekend vs. North Florida and are now 5-10 overall.

Peyton Isaacson, Saint Leo

Isaacson got back on track in a huge way this past weekend vs. Tiffin. Isaacson went 5 for 13, hitting .385 with two doubles, a triple and 3 RBI’s. Saint Leo swept Tiffin over the weekend to improve to 13-7 overall. Isaacson also finished up the series with a save on the mound tossing the final inning of the weekend giving up 0 runs on 1 hit while striking out 1. Isaacson is hitting .317 on the year for the Lions with 5 doubles, 5 homers and 19 RBI’s.

Justin Kelly, Wayne State
Kelly got back on track offensively down at the RussMatt Invitational in Florida this past week. Kelly went 6 for 16, hitting .375 in a four game stretch with a homer, 3 doubles and 3 RBI’s. Wayne State however is 1-3 in Florida and have slipped to 10-3 overall on the year.

Nathan DeLoian, Carson-Newman
DeLoian made his 1st collegiate relief appearance vs. Bluefield State this past week, tossing a scoreless inning with 0 hits and 2 walks while striking out 1. Carson-Newman lost to Young Harris and beat Bluefield State in the mid-week games and got swept by Lincoln Memorial over the weekend to fall to 17-7 overall.

Louis Niemerg, Maryville
Niemerg collected two big hits this past weekend vs. UIndy with a home run and 4 RBI’s. Maryville took 2 of 3 vs. UIndy and are now 4-10 overall.

Brad Van Asdlen, Palm Beach Atlantic
Van Asdlen made one relief appearance this past week vs. #19 ranked Wilmington (DE). Van Asdlen went 1 inning giving up 0 runs on 1 hit while striking out 2. Palm Beach beat Delaware and swept Chestnut Hill over the weekend to improve to 10-11 overall.



Jake Huber
, Augustana

Huber had a huge weekend at the plate in the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida. Huber went 8 for 18, hitting .444 over the weekend with a double and 4 RBI’s. Augustana went 2-1-1 on the trip and improved to 9-2-1 overall. Huber in hitting .349 on the year for the Vikings.

Nate Tholl, Webster
Tholl has started off hot down at the RussMatt Invitational in Florida. Tholl is 6 for 14, hitting .429 with a double and an RBI in 3 games down there. Webster is 2-1 down there and are 7-2 overall.

Ben Rosengard, University of Chicago
Rosengard went 3 for 6, hitting .500 with an RBI vs. Thomas More this past weekend. U of Chicago beat Thomas More twice to improve to 4-1 overall.

Mitch Owens, Augustana
Owens went 5 for 16, hitting .313 over the weekend in four games with a double and 3 RBI’s. Augustana went 2-1-1 in the Gene Cusic Classic and improved to 9-2-1 overall. Owens is hitting .316 on the year for the Vikings.

Austin Butts, Transylvania
Butts went 3 for 8, hitting .375 with 2 RBI’s vs. Alma this past weekend. Transylvania took both games vs. Alma to improve to 4-4 overall on the year.

Nick Baldassano, Aurora
Baldassano got his 1st collegiate start at 2B vs. St. Olaf College in Tucson, Arizona this past week. Baldassano went 1 for 2 in that game. Aurora went 6-2 out in the Tucson Invitational Games and are 6-2 overall.

Dave Navarro, IIT
Navarro got a huge pinch-hit RBI single in Game 1 to help IIT beat Rose-Hulman. Then in Game 2, Navarro went 0-3 with a walk as the DH and they lost to Rose-Hulman to put them at 1-1 overall to start the year.

Andrew Padilla, Webster
Padilla made one relief appearance in Florida this past weekend, tossing 1 scoreless inning giving up 1 hit while striking out 2. Webster is now 7-2 overall on the year.

Andrew Zapka, Heartland CC

Zapka had a great outing vs. Genesee this past weekend tossing 5 scoreless innings giving up only 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 9. Heartland CC is 4-1 overall to start the year and Zapka has an ERA of 0.90 with 15 strikeouts in 10 innings of work.

Brandon Williams, Polk State CC
Williams made two relief appearances this past weekend, throwing a total of 4 innings. Williams gave 0 earned runs on 5 hits in those 4 innings of work. On the year, Williams has an ERA of 3.38.

Michael Bieterman, Heartland CC
Bieterman went 2 for 2 vs. Genesee this past weekend, helping the Hawks move to 4-1 overall on the year.

Marius Balandis, Iowa Western CC
Balandis got his 1st save of the year this past weekend vs. Des Moines CC. Balandis went 1.2 innings giving up 0 runs on only 1 hit while striking out 3. Iowa Western won all four games vs. Des Moines this past weekend and improved to 7-3 overall. Balandis is 1-0 with one save and an ERA of 3.86 on the year.

Michael Oh, NIACC
Oh got a no-decision for his efforts this past weekend vs. Parkland. Oh went 6 innings giving up 2 earned runs off 7 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2. NIACC went 3-1 on the weekend and moved to 6-5 overall. Oh on the year is 1-1 with a 2.65 ERA and has 17 strikeouts in 17 innings of work.

Ashton Creal, John A. Logan CC
Creal collected 4 hits this past weekend with 2 RBI’s. John A. Logan beat Mckendree, split with Carl Sandburg and beat Kentucky Wesleyan twice to improve to 15-2 overall. Creal is hitting .425 on the year with 10 stolen bases.

Michael Farnan, Saint Xavier

Farnan got a hit in all 7 games played this past week in Florida at the RussMatt Invitational. Farnan went 10 for 23, hitting .435 with homer and 4 RBI’s. Saint Xavier is 8-8 overall and Farnan is hitting .417 on the year.

Michael Kruse, Benedictine (KS)
Kruse picked up a win this past weekend on the mound vs. Mt. Mercy. Kruse went 7 innings giving up only 1 run off 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7. Benedictine beat Mt. Mercy twice and split with Clarke to improve to 10-2 overall. Kruse is 2-0 on the year with a 4.95 ERA and has 17 strikeouts in 20 innings of work.

Malcolm Grady, Campbellsville
Grady made one relief appearance this past weekend vs. Fisher going 2.1 innings giving up 0 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. The Tigers beat Fisher twice to improve to 7-7 overall on the year.

Chris Cuppini, Judson
Cuppini picked up a save in the tail end of their Florida trip vs. Aquinas. Cuppini went 2 innings to pick up the save giving up 0 runs on 1 hit while striking out 1. Judson is 5-10 overall on the year.
