Week #7: Division I College Baseball, Top Tier Alumni Roundup:


Player of the Week:


Blake Wright, INF, Clemson 
Wright had one of his best weeks as a Tiger this past week. He absolutely tore the cover off the baseball, going 9 for 18, hitting .500 with 3 homers and 7 RBI's. Clemson beat Winthrop in the midweek game and lost 2 of 3 to NC State over the weekend and are now 18-9 overall on the year. Wright is hitting .302 on the year in 43 at bats with 5 homers and 10 RBI's. 

Best of the Rest Highlights from Week #7 of our Top Tier Alumni in D1baseball:

Gavin Doyle, Western Michigan
Doyle had an great weekend at the plate collecting hits in every game going 7 for 13, hitting .538 with two doubles and an RBI vs. Eastern Michigan. Western Michigan split with Eastern Michigan and are now 6-17 overall on the year. Doyle is having his best year so far as a Bronco as he is hitting .397 with 7 doubles and 9 RBI's. 

Cam Minacci, Wake Forest
Minacci continues to dominate out of the bullpen for the Demon Deacons as he made two relief appearances this past weekend vs. Boston College where he earned a save and struck out every batter he faced in a total of 1.1 innings of work. Wake Forest beat Coastal Carolina in the midweek game and took 2 of 3 from Boston College to improve to 21-7 overall on the year. Minacci is 1-0 with 1 save, an ERA of 1.25 in 21.2 innings of work with 34 strikeouts on the year.

Scott Youngbrandt, Saint Louis
Youngbrandt continues to throw really well as he got one inning of work in the midweek game vs. SEMO giving up 0 runs off only 1 hit and 1 walk. He followed that up with a 7 inning win vs. Fordham giving up 0 earned runs off only 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 9. Saint Louis lost to SEMO in the midweek game and took 2 of 3 from Fordham over the weekend and are 14-11 overall on the year. Youngbrandt is 3-1 with a 5.86 ERA in 27.2 innings of work with 30 strikeouts. 

Chase Centala, UCF
Centala got back on track this past weekend as he threw a total of 3.1 innings of relief giving up 0 runs off only 1 hit and 0 walks while striking out 4 and earning a save. UCF beat FAU in the midweek game and swept USF over the weekend to improve to 18-10 overall on the year. Centala is 1-2 with a save and an ERA of 4.07 in 24.1 innings of work with 26 strikeouts. 

Paul Begstrom, Creighton
Bergstrom logged a lot of innings out of the bullpen for the Blue Jays this past week, throwing a total of 5.1 innings giving up only 1 earned run off 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. Bergstrom picked up the win in relief vs. the Citadel in one of those appearances as Creighton swept the Citadel and improved to 15-7 overall on the year. Bergstrom is 2-1 with a save, an ERA of 2.49 in 21.2 innings with 19 strikeouts. 

Will Parkinson, Columbia
Parkinson earned a start in the midweek game vs. St. John's this past week where he went 2 innings giving up 0 runs off only 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 1. He then got a relief appearance over the weekend vs. Princeton tossing a scoreless inning giving up only 1 more hit and 0 walks while striking out 2. Columbia lost to St. John's in the midweek game but swept Princeton over the weekend to improve to 10-13 overall. 

Conner Tomasic, Michigan State
Tomasic earned a no-decision in his start this past week vs. Evansville where he tossed 5 innings giving up only 1 run off 2 hits and 3 walks while striking out 4. Michigan State lost to Bowling Green and beat Youngstown State in the midweek games and got swept by Evansville over the weekend to fall to 12-13 overall on the year. 

Michael Oh, Charlotte
Oh made two relief appearances this past week tossing a total of 3.2 innings giving up 1 run off 4 hits and 0 walks while striking out 3. Charlotte beat College of Charleston in the midweek game but got swept by UTSA to fall to 17-10 overall on the year. 

Jack Carberry, Western Illinois
Carberry made two relief appearances this past weekend vs. North Dakota State earning a save in one of them. Carberry in total threw 3.1 innings giving up 1 run off 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out 3. Western Illinois lost 2 of 3 to NDSU and are now 3-21 overall. 

Danny Doligale, Illinois
Doligale collected 4 hits this past week with a homer and an RBI. Illinois lost to Missouri in the midweek game but swept Purdue to improve to 13-12 overall on the year. 

Jeremy Gaines, Texas Southern
Gaines collected 3 hits this past week with two doubles and RBI as Texas Southern beat Tarleton State in the midweek game but got swept by Southern over the weekend to fall to 14-12 overall. Gaines is hitting .393 on the year with 8 doubles, a triple, a homer, 19 RBI's and 18 stolen bases. 

Dakota Kotowski, Missouri State
Kotowski continues to put up big power numbers as he another homer this past weekend and collected 2 hits as the Bears took 2 of 3 from Samford to improve to 14-10 overall on the year. Kotowski is hitting .289 with with 13 homers and 26 RBI's on the year. 

Ryan Hampe, Illinois
Hampe collected 2 hits with a homer and 3 RBI's this past week as the Fighting Illini swept Purdue and improved to 13-12 overall.

Antonio Brown, Mercer
Brown collected 2 hits this past week as Mercer beat Georgia State in the midweek game and swept Seton Hall over the weekend to improve to 24-5 overall. Brown is hitting .381 on the year. 

Bryce Barnett, Xavier
Barnett made two relief appearances this past weekend throwing a total of 2.2 innings giving up 1 run off 4 hits and 0 walks while striking out 2. Xavier lost 2 of 3 to Western Carolina and are 14-15 overall on the year. 

Tony Livermore, Northwestern
Livermore collected 2 hits this past weekend with and RBI as the Wildcats took 2 of 3 from Indiana to improve to 11-12 overall on the year. 

Kevin Davis, USC-Upstate
Davis made two relief appearances this past week throwing a total of 3 innings giving up 2 runs off 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4. The Spartans lost to Kennesaw State in the midweek game but won 2 of 3 vs. High Point over the weekend to improve to 18-10 overall. Davis is 2-2 with 4 saves and an ERA of 4.74 with 26 strikeouts in 19 innings of work on the year. 

Kellen Sarver, Illinois
Sarver collected 2 hits this past weekend with a double and 3 RBI's as Illinois swept Purdue to improve to 13-12 overall.

Keaton Rice, Bradley
Rice collected 2 hits this past weekend as Bradley lost 2 of 3 to SIU and are now 8-14 overall on the year. Rice is hitting .275 with 7 doubles, a triple, 2 homers and 16 RBI's on the year. 

Jacob Rosenkranz, Valpo
Rosenkranz made one relief appearance this past week throwing one scoreless inning. Valpo lost to IPFW in the midweek game and won 2 of 3 vs. UIC over the weekend and are 11-11 overall on the year. 

Stephen Hill, Liberty
Hill collected 2 hits this past weekend with a double and 2 RBI's as Liberty beat Duke in the midweek game and lost 2 of 3 to Jacksonville over the weekend and are 17-9 overall. 

Michael Gurka, Minnesota
Gurka made one relief appearance this past weekend tossing 0.2 innings giving up 0 runs off 0 hits and 0 walks while striking out 1. Minnesota got swept by Rutgers and are 8-18 overall.
