Here are the highlights from Week #7 in college baseball at the D2/D3, NAIA and JUCO level by our Top Tier Alums:
Top Tier Alumni Player of the Week:
Mitch Owens, 1B/OF, Augustana (D3)
Owens was on absolute fire at the plate this past weekend for the 24th ranked Division 3 team in the nation, Augustana Vikings. Owens collected a hit in all four games going 9 for 16, hitting .563 with two doubles and collecting 6 RBI's. Augustana lost to Carthage in the midweek game and swept Wheaton over the weekend to improve to 17-3 overall on the year.
Best of the Rest in College Baseball (D2/D3/NAIA/JUCO)
Anthony Rios, C, Lewis (D2)
Rios had another great weekend at the plate for the Flyers as he went 6 for 12, hitting .500 with a homer, a double and collected 3 RBI's. Lewis earned a big split with the 2nd ranked team in the nation, Lindenwood. The Flyers are now 14-10 overall on the year.
Brendan Holloway, OF, Oakton (JUCO)
Holloway ripped the cover off the baseball this past week going 7 for 19, hitting .368 with a double and 3 RBI's to help improve Oakton to a 11-6 overall record.
TJ Byrd, OF, Young Harris (D2)
Byrd collected a hit in all three games this past weekend going 4 for 12, hitting .333 with a homer, a double and collected 6 RBI's. Young Harris got swept by the 24th ranked North Georgia team this past weekend to fall to 18-10 overall on the year.
Nick Talarico, INF, Case Western (D3)
Talarico went 3 for 7 this past weekend with 2 RBI's to help the Spartans beat Oberlin twice and improve to 12-6 overall on the year.
Jimmy Burnette, LHP, Saint Leo (D2)
Burnette had a solid outing this past weekend on the mound vs. Florida Southern where he tossed 2 scoreless innings giving up 0 hits and only walking 2 while striking out 2. Saint Leo won that game and move to 6-8 overall on the year.
Mitch Farris, LHP/OF, Wingate (D2)
Farris threw 1.2 innings of relief vs. Catawba giving up 0 runs off 2 hits and 0 walks while striking out 1. Wingate split with Catawba and won 3 of 4 vs. Anderson over the weekend to improve to 25-11 overall on the year.
Austin Divello, RHP, Coe (D3)
Divello had his worst outing of the year in relief vs. Loras this past weekend going 2 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out 1, but his team still earned the win. Divello bounced back the next day to earn his 3rd save of the year going 1 inning giving up 0 runs off only 1 hit while striking out 1. Coe College is the 25th ranked team for D3 in the nation and won 3 of 4 games vs. Loras to improve to 18-3 overall on the year.
Brenden Heiss, RHP, Southeastern (NAIA)
Heiss threw 2 innings of relief this past week for the 2nd ranked Fire team vs. USC-Beaufort where he gave up 0 earned runs off 0 hits and 3 walks while striking out 2. Southeastern won 2 of 3 this past weekend and are now 34-4 overall on the year.
Matt Kann, OF, Franklin & Marshall (D3)
Kann went 3 for 8 with an RBI this past weekend for the Diplomats as they split with McDaniel and are now 6-2 overall on the year.
Connor Blake, INF, Illinois Institute of Technology (D3)
Blake collected 4 hits this past weekend with a homer, a double and collected 4 RBI's vs. Concordia-Chicago. IIT won 3 of 4 vs. the Cougars and improved to 8-2 overall on the year.
Michael Schalasky, RHP, UIndy (D2)
Schalasky went one inning of relief this past weekend giving up 0 runs off 0 hits and striking out 1. The Greyhounds split with USML and are now 13-13 overall on the year.
Jake Lotz, LHP, Lewis (D2)
Lotz made two relief appearances this past weekend vs. Lindenwood. His 1st appearance he got ruffed up for 4 runs in 2 innings of work off 4 hits while striking out 3. In his 2nd appearance he earned his 3rd save of the year tossing a scoreless inning giving up 0 hits or walks and striking out 1. The Flyers split with the 2nd ranked team in the nation, Lindenwood and are now 14-10 overall.
Dave Navarro, C, Illinois Institute of Technology (D3)
Navarro went 2 for 6 vs. Concordia-Chicago this past weekend and helped his team take 3 of 4 games from the Cougars to improve to 8-2 overall.
Ashton Schwab, LHP, Oakton (JUCO)
Schwab earned the loss for his efforts this past weekend going 5 strong innings in his start giving up only 3 runs off 4 hits and 0 walks while striking out 8. Oakton is 11-6 overall on the year.
Conner Tomasic, RHP/INF, South Suburban (JUCO)
Tomasic went 2 for 8 this past weekend with a homer, a triple and collected 4 RBI's for the Bulldogs.
Colin Summerhill, C, Triton (JUCO)
Summerhill went 3 for 11 with 2 more homeruns, a double and collected 5 more RBI's this past week.
Johnny Hernandez, C, Blackhawk (JUCO)
Hernandez went 1 for 6 this past weekend and had 4 RBI's to help Blackhawk beat Carl Sandburg twice to improve to 13-5 overall on the year.
Jack Tomich, RHP, Rollins (D2)
Tomich threw one scoreless inning giving up only 1 hit while striking out 2. Rollins lost 2 of 3 vs. Nova Southeastern and are 8-6 overall.
Luke Napleton, C, Quincy
Napleton got his 1st collegiate hit this past weekend vs. Southwest Baptist, where he went 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI. Quincy swept Southwest Baptist and improved to 17-6 overall.
Jack Lochner, OF, Lindenwood
Lochner went 1 for 1 in a pinch hit role this past weekend with 2 RBI's. Lindenwood split with Lewis over the weekend and are 14-2 overall.
