Week #7 in College Baseball
Top Performances from Top Tier Alumni: Dakota Kotowski, Missouri State had a great week at the plate hitting .400 with another homerun.

Dakota Kotowski, Missouri State

Kotowski had an unbelievable week at the plate, going 8 for 20, hitting .400 with another homerun, a double and an RBI. Kotowski had a hit in every game but one this past week with a performance where he went 3 for 4 against the #8 team in the nation, Arkansas. Missouri State lost both midweek games to Arkansas and Kansas but bounced back to take 2 of 3 from Indiana State to improve to 7-19 overall and 2-1 in the MVC. Kotowski is hitting .350 with a double and 3 homers in just 40 at bats for the Bears.

Ryan Hampe, UIC
Hampe was on absolute fire this week at the plate. Hampe went 8 for 14, hitting .571 with a double and 7 RBI’s to help the Flames beat Northern Illinois in the midweek game and take both games from Milwaukee over the weekend. UIC is now 10-11 overall and 6-2 in the Horizon League. Hampe as a freshman is turning heads as he is hitting .429 with 5 doubles and 11 RBI’s.

Eric Giltz, SIUE
Giltz went on a tear this past week going 7 for 14, hitting .500 with 3 RBI’s. SIUE beat Saint Louis and lost to Evansville in the midweek and lost 2 of 3 vs. Eastern Kentucky over the weekend to fall to 9-16 overall and 5-7 in the OVC. Giltz is hitting .364 on the year with an on base % of .491.

Neil Lambert, Bowling Green
Lambert went 4 for 9, hitting .444 this past week with a double and 4 RBI’s. It was not enough as the Falcons lost 2 of 3 vs. Ohio to fall to 9-14 overall and 4-2 in the MAC. Lambert leads the team hitting .380 with an on base % of .494.

Ryan Howe, Purdue
Howe had his best week as a freshman for the Boilermakers, going 5 for 11, hitting .455 in 3 games. Purdue beat Valpo in the midweek game and took both games vs. Penn State to improve to 10-16 overall and 4-1 in the Big Ten.

Brian Schrimmer, Bradley
Schrimmer continues to be really good out of the Braves bullpen this year. Schrimmer made two relief appearances this past week going a total of 4.1 innings giving up 0 runs on 2 hits and 3 walks while striking out 2. Bradley got swept this past weekend vs. Evansville to fall to 12-10 overall and 0-3 in the MVC. Schrimmer has 0.79 ERA on the year with 11 strikeouts in 11 innings of work.

Bobby Seymour, Wake Forest
Seymour continues to swing a hot stick at the plate, as he went 6 for 16 this past week, hitting .375 with 3 RBI’s. Wake Forest however, lost to UNCG in the midweek game and got swept by #10 ranked Louisville over the weekend to fall to 15-14 overall and 5-7 in the ACC. Seymour is hitting .356 on the year with 9 doubles, 2 homers and 34 RBI’s.

Kellen Sarver, Illinois
Sarver collected a hit in every game this past week and continues his dominance at the plate. Sarver went 6 for 16, hitting .375 with a triple, a double and 2 RBI’s. However, it was not enough as Illinois lost to Indiana State in the midweek and got swept by Iowa to open Big Ten play and fell to 17-8 overall and 0-3 in the Big Ten. Sarver is hitting .349 on the year with 4 doubles, a triple, a homer and 13 RBI’s.

Cooper Johnson, Ole Miss
Johnson continues to impress this year in the SEC as he went 4 for 12, hitting .333 this past weekend with a homer and a double vs. #8 ranked Arkanasas. Ole Miss the #21 ranked team in the nation took 2 of 3 from the Razorbacks to improve to 20-9 overall and 5-4 in the SEC. Johnson on the year is hitting .282 with 6 doubles, 3 homers and 11 RBI’s. Probably even more impressive is Johnson’s defensive cannon behind the plate as he has thrown out a perfect 10 out of 10 baserunners that have tried to steal on him this year.

Brett Newberg, Austin Peay
Newberg made two relief appearances this past week. Newberg went a total of 2 innings giving up 0 runs off 1 hit while striking out 2. Austin Peay beat Middle Tennessee State and lost to Murray State in the midweek games, and then took 2 of 3 vs. Belmont over the weekend to improve to 14-12 overall and 8-4 in the OVC. Newberg on the year has a 5.24 ERA with 4 saves and 25 strikeouts in 22.1 innings of work.

Keaton Rice, Bradley
Rice went 3 for 9 on the week, hitting .333 with 7 walks. Bradley got swept over the weekend and fell to 12-10 overall and 0-3 in the MVC. Rice continues to be the mainstay behind the plate and is on base % is .452 on the year.

Stephen Hill, Morehead State
Hill went 4 for 13 this past week, hitting .308 with an RBI. Morehead State however, lost 2 of 3 to UT-Martin and fell to 18-10 overall and 5-4 in the OVC. Hill is hitting .313 on the year with a double, two homers and 14 RBI’s.

Andrew Hoffmann, Oakland
Hoffmann pitched well this past weekend but got a no-decision for his start. Hoffmann went 5 innings vs. Northern Kentucky and gave up only 1 earned run off 5 hits and 4 walks while striking out 6. Oakland took 2 of 3 from NKU over the weekend to improve to 4-19 overall and 4-5 in the Horizon League.

Bobby Kametas, Creighton
Kametas made one relief appearance this past weekend vs. ISU, going 1 inning giving up 0 runs on 0 hits while striking out 1. Creighton swept Illinois State over the weekend to improve to 14-6 overall. Kametas has a 1.93 ERA out of the bullpen for the Blue Jays with 3 saves and 10 strikeouts in 9.1 innings of work.

Jordan Libman, Illinois State
Libman collected 5 hits this past week with an RBI. ISU got beat by Milwaukee in the midweek game and got swept by Creighton over the weekend and fell to 13-13 overall. Libman is hitting .357 on the year with 6 doubles, a homer and 16 RBI’s along with an on base % of .472.

Mike Shereyk, SIUE
Shereyk made 4 relief appearances this past week, throwing a total of 5.1 innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5. SIUE however lost 2 of 3 to Eastern Kentucky over the weekend to fall to 9-16 overall. Shereyk has a 4.22 ERA on the year.

Willie Bourbon, Northwestern
Bourbon collected only 2 hits this past week, one being a homer and the other being a triple. Of his two hits he racked up 5 RBI’s as well to help the Wildcats win all four games this past week. Northwestern swept San Jose State over the weekend and improved to 10-13 overall and 1-2 in the Big Ten.

Ryan Altenberger, Xavier
Altenberger collected a hit in every game he played this past week. Altenberger collected 3 hits with 2 RBI’s vs. #13 ranked Texas this past weekend. Xavier split the midweek games with Wright State before getting swept by Texas on the weekend which pushed them to 9-18 overall.

Andrew Wilhite, Minnesota
Wilhite went 2 for 3 this past week with 2 RBI’s. Minnesota took 2 of 3 from Nebraska and improved to 11-14 overall and 5-1 in the Big Ten. Wilhite is hitting .304 in 23 at bats this season as a freshman with 3 doubles, a homer and 7 RBI’s.

Chase Stanke, Minnesota
Stanke made two starts behind the dish this past week going 1 for 5 with 2 RBI’s. Minnesota took 2 of 3 vs. Nebraska this past weekend and improved to 11-14 overall and 5-1 in the Big Ten.

Justin Kelly, Wayne State

Kelly went 5 for 12 this past weekend vs. Northwood with a homer, a double and 7 RBI’s. Wayne State took 3 of 4 from Northwood this past weekend and improved to 21-5 overall and a #18 rank in D2.

Peyton Isaacson, Saint Leo
Isaacson went 4 for 13, hitting .308 this past weekend vs. Palm Beach Atlantic with a double and an RBI. Isaacson also picked a save to finish of the series throwing 1 inning of scoreless baseball with a strikeout. Saint Leo took 2 of 3 from Palm Beach Atlantic to improve to 16-14 overall. Isaacson is hitting .323 on the year with 9 doubles, 6 homers and 30 RBI’s.

Jacob Lotz, Lewis
Lotz made two relief appearances this past week, throwing a total of an inning picking up a win in one of those appearances. Lotz gave up 0 runs on 0 hits while walking 2 and striking out 2. Lewis beat UIndy in the midweek and lost to Purdue Northwest and then went on to sweep McKendree over the weekend to improve to 12-14 overall.

Mitch Owens, Augustana

Owens went 6 for 16, hitting .375 this past week with a homer and 3 RBI’s. Augustana won 2 of 3 vs. Northwood and improved to 13-5-1 overall. Owens is hitting .365 on the year.

Ben Rosengard, University of Chicago
Rosengard went 4 for 8, hitting .500 with an RBI this past weekend vs. #1 ranked Trinity TX and #8 ranked Texas Lutheran. U of Chicago beat Trinity and lost to Texas Lutheran and are 7-3 overall. Rosengard is hitting .370 on the year as a freshman.

Austin Butts, Transylvania
Butts went 5 for 14 this past week, hitting .357 with a double and 3 RBI’s. Transylvania beat Earlham twice and Franklin twice to improve to 11-11 overall. Butt is hitting .316 on the year with 6 doubles and 18 RBI’s.

Brian Lyle, University of Chicago
Lyle went 3 for 6, hitting .500 vs. the #1 ranked and #8 ranked teams in Division 3 this past weekend. They beat the #1 team Trinity TX and lost to the #8 team Texas Lutheran. Lyle is hitting .500 on the year.

Dave Navarro, IIT
Navarro went 2 for 5 this past weekend vs. MSOE. IIT split with MSOE and are now 5-8 overall.

Tommy Duddleston, UW-Steven Point
Duddleston went 6 for 20, hitting .300 this past week with two doubles and two RBI’s. UW-Stevens Point beat St. Nobert twice and lost 3 of 4 vs. UW-LaCrosse over the weekend and are now 9-7 overall. Duddleston is hitting .345 on the year.

Travis Hank, MIT
Hank made three relief appearances this past week. Hank threw a total of 2.2 innings giving up 0 earned runs off 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out 3. MIT is now 8-6-1 overall on the year.

Ashton Creal, John A. Logan CC

Creal was on fire at the plate this past week, collecting hits in all four games played. Creal went 7 for 12, hitting .583 this past week with two doubles and 7 RBI’s as John Logan swept Frontier CC over the weekend and improved to 25-5 overall.

Vincent Massaglia, ICC
Massaglia went off this past week collecting hits in all seven games played this week. Massaglia went 13 for 27, hitting .481 with 3 homers and 13 RBI’s. ICC won all 7 games this week including a sweep over John Wood CC. ICC is 9-11 overall and Massaglia is hitting .362 on the year with 4 doubles, 5 homers and 23 RBI’s.

Andrew Zapka, Heartland CC
Zapka picked up another win on the mound for the Hawks this past week, tossing 6 innings giving up only 1 run off 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 9. Zapka is 3-0 on the mound this year with a 2.25 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 20 innings of work. Zapka just committed to Dayton University to play next year. Heartland is 13-7 overall.

Logan Peterson, ICC
Peterson went 9 for 24 this past week, hitting .375 with a double and an RBI. ICC won all 7 games this past week and improved to 9-11 overall. Peterson is hitting .357 on the year.

Michael Oh, NIACC
Oh made two starts this past week, picking up wins vs. both Northeast CC and Des Moines CC. In total, Oh threw 13 innings between the 2 games giving up 4 runs off 5 hits and 6 walks while striking out 14. NIACC is 10-13 overall on the year.

Marius Balandis, Iowa Western CC
Balandis made two relief appearances this past weekend, tossing a total of 5.2 innings giving up 1 run off 2 hits and 4 walks while striking out 7. Iowa Western beat Ellsworth twice and Marshalltown twice to improve to 20-4 overall. Balandis is 3-0 with a save and has a 3.65 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 12.1 innings of work.

Garrett Goetz, Waubonsee CC
Goetz collected a hit in every game this past week, going 5 for 13, hitting .385 with two doubles and 3 RBI’s. Waubonsee is 7-10 overall.

Michael Bieterman, Heartland CC
Bieterman went 2 for 5 with an RBI this past weekend and Heartland split with Danville and are 13-7 overall. Bieterman is hitting .360 on the year for the Hawks.



Mike Farnan, St. Xavier

Farnan was unstoppable again at the plate this week, going 8 for 15, hitting .533 with two doubles and 6 RBI's. St. Xavier beat Judson twice and took 2 of 3 from Trinity Christian to improve to 20-10 overall. 

Malcolm Grady, Campbellsville
Grady made two relief appearances this past weekend, tossing 3.2 innings total giving up only 1 earned run off 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 7. The Tigers lost 2 of 3 vs. the Cumberlands and fell to 17-11 overall. 

Ben Zordani, St. Xavier
Zordani went 6 for 20 this past week, hitting .300 with 2 RBI's. St. Xavier beat Judson twice and took 2 of 3 from Trinity Christian this past week to improve to 20-10 overall. 

Angel Sandoval, St. Francis
Sandoval took the loss vs. Robert Morris but threw well going 6 innings giving up 1 earned run off 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5. St. Francis beat St. Ambrose twice and took 2 of 3 from Robert Morris over the weekend to improve to 18-12 overall.
