Weekly Top Tier Alumni D2/D3/NAIA/NJCAA Roundup:
Top Performances of Top Tier Players in Division 2, Division 3, NAIA and NJCAA college baseball. (March 2nd - 8th)



Anthony Rios catcher for Lewis University in our top D2 performer this past week after collecting multiple hits in every game, hitting .615 6 RBI's.

Anthony Rios, Lewis

Rios went off this weekend at the plate helping the Flyers take 2 of 3 from William Jewell. Rios went 8 for 13, hitting an unbelievable .615 with 2 doubles and 6 RBI's. Lewis is now 6-4 overall on the year.

Brad VanAsdlen, Palm Beach Atlantic
VanAsdlen pitched a gem in relief this past weekend throwing 3.2 innings of scoreless relief off giving up only 2 hits and striking out 1 vs. Eckerd. VanAsdlen got to throw another inning at the end of the weekend vs. Eckerd giving up only 1 run off 1 hit while striking out 1. Palm Beach Atlantic beat Eckerd twice and Malone and their only loss of the week came against Rollins to move them 9-8 overall. 

Andy Booth, Saint Leo
Booth got his 1st college start vs. Minnesota Crookston early in the week and got a no-decision after tossing 5.1 innings giving up only 2 runs off 10 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2. Booth then started again at the end of the weekend vs. Alderson Broaddus where he picked up his 1st collegiate win. Booth went a complete game 7 innings giving up only 1 earned run off only 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out 8. Saint Leo is now 7-15 overall on the year. 

Jacob Lotz, Lewis
Lotz made two relief appearances this past week. In his 1st relief appearance vs. William Jewell, Lotz got roughed up a bit as he didn't record an out in the inning he came taking the loss. But Lotz bounced back well in Game 2 vs. William Jewell tossing 2 strong innings giving up 0 runs off 0 hits while striking out 3 and earning himself his 3rd save on the year. Lewis is now 6-4 overall on the year.

Hunter Keim, Saint Leo
Keim made two relief appearances this past week, going a total of 2.1 innings giving up 0 runs off only 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 3. Saint Leo is 7-15 overall on the season so far. 



Mitch Owens utility player for Augustana is our top performer in D3 baseball after hitting .400 over the weekend with 2 RBI's.

Owens had a really good weekend at the plate going 4 for 10, hitting .400 with 2 RBI's. The Vikings only beat Bluffton and lost to Thiel and Otterbein to finish off their Florida trip this past week. Augustana is now 2-4 overall to start the year. 

Nick Baldassano, Aurora
Baldassano went 2 for 5 in his couple of pinch hit appearances and one spot start this past week in Florida. Baldassano hit a double and had an RBI. Aurora went 6-2 in the RussMatt Invitational and the team is now 9-2 overall and ranked #21 in the nation.

Ben Rosengard, University of Chicago
Rosengard went 3 for 10, hitting .300 this past weekend with a double and 4 RBI's. University of Chicago took 2 of 3 from Transylvania and improved to 5-1 overall on the year. 

Jake Huber, Augustana
Huber collected a hit in every game this past week going 4 for 13, hitting .308. Augustana lost 2 of their last 3 games in their Florida trip to fall to 2-4 overall on the year. 



Brenden Heiss RHP at Southeastern is the top performer this past week in NAIA baseball after he tossed 6 scoreless innings vs. Robert Morris while striking out 13.

Heiss moved to 4-1 on the year after his dominating performance vs. Robert Morris this past week on the mound. Heiss threw 6 innings giving up 0 runs off only 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out a staggering 13 hitters. Heiss was named Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week for his efforts, and his team won all 6 games they played in this past week to improve to 23-1 overall and #4 ranked nationally. Heiss has 3.24 ERA on the year with 35 strikeouts in 25 innings of work.

Angel Sandoval, Saint Francis
Sandoval made two starts this past week. Sandoval in his 1st outing vs. Olivet Nazarene threw a great game going 7 strong innings giving up 0 runs off only 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 7. Later in the week, Sandoval got the nod to start vs. Webber International and didn't do as well going 4 innings giving up 3 runs off 6 hits and 1 walk while striking out 1. Saint Francis swept Olivet Nazarene and got beat twice by Webber International to fall to 5-11 overall on the year. 

Connor Ceglarz, Robert Morris
Ceglarz threw 2.1 innings of relief this past weekend giving up 0 earned runs off 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 1. 

Ben Zordani, Saint Xavier
Zordani collected 6 hits this past week with 2 homers and 7 RBI's. Saint Xavier went 5-5 on their Florida trip and are 8-10 overall on the year. 

Max Engstrom, Indiana Wesleyan
Engstrom got a start this past week vs. Saint Francis (IN) where he went 3.2 innings giving up 3 earned runs off 4 hits and 6 walks while striking out 4. Indiana Wesleyan swept Saint Francis (IN) and improved to 9-8 overall on the year. 



Andrew Hoffmann RHP for John A. Logan CC is the top performer for NJCAA baseball this week as he continues his dominance on the mound, picking up another win vs. Lincoln Trail CC giving up 0 runs off only 1 hit while striking out 7.

Hoffmann continues to be an absolute stud on the mound for the Vols this year as he improves to 5-0 on the year by taking down Lincoln Trail CC. Hoffmann went 6 strong innings giving up 0 runs off only 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 7. The Vols took 2 of 3 from Lincoln Trail CC and beat Carl Sandburg to improve to 19-1 overall on the year. Hoffmann has a 2.08 ERA with an absurd 46 strikeouts in just 26 innings pitched. 

Clay Thompson, Kankakee CC
Thompson went 4 for 9, hitting .44 with 3 doubles and 3 RBI's in opening weekend for his new team. Kankakee CC beat Carl Sandburg and Rend Lake, their only loss was to Parkland to start the year 2-1 overall. 

Logan Peterson, Illinois Central College
Peterson got the win vs. Morton CC this past weekend tossing 3 innings giving up 0 runs off only 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. ICC beat Morton CC twice over the weekend to improve to 3-10 overall on the year. 

Ryan Hampe, John A. Logan CC
Hampe continues to stay hot at the plate, where he went 6 for 18, hitting .333 this past week with a homer, a double and 5 RBI's. John A. Logan CC took 2 of 3 from Lincoln Trail CC and beat Carl Sandburg to improve to 19-1 overall. Hampe is hitting .403 on the year with 3 homers and 23 RBI's. 

Vincent Massaglia, Illinois Central College
Massaglia went 2 for 5 with a triple, a double and 4 RBI's this past weekend to help ICC beat Morton CC twice and improve to 3-10 overall on the year.

Nick Laxner, Kankakee CC
Laxner got the start vs. Carl Sandburg this past week where he pitched solid going 5 innings giving up 3 runs off 10 hits while striking out 6. Kankakee CC is 2-1 to start the season.

, St. Charles CC
Carey went 2 for 6 with 2 RBI's this past weekend vs. Crowder CC. St. Charles got swept by Crowder and are now 3-11 overall. 

Mason Kasprisin, St. Charles CC
Kasprisin made one relief appearance this past week vs. Crowder CC. Kasprisin went 0.2 innings giving up 0 runs off 1 hit and 2 walks. 

Ashton Schwab, Oakton CC
Schwab made his 1st collegiate appearance this past week vs. Iowa Central where he went 4.2 innings in relief giving up 3 earned runs off 7 hits while striking out 6. Oakton lost and tied to Iowa Central this past weekend and are 0-1-1 overall.
