Weekly Top Tier Alumni Roundup for our NCAA Division II, III, NAIA & JUCO Players:


Player of the Week:

Nick Villasenor, LHP, Saint Francis (NAIA)

Villasenor finished his senior year off in style winning his last collegiate start vs. Roosevelt in the CCAC Tournament throwing a complete game 9 inning shutout giving up only 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4. Saint Francis beat Roosevelt and St. Xavier but lost to Olivet Nazarene and Judson and finished the year with a 30-27 overall record. Villasenor went 7-3 in his last season with the Saints with a 3.86 ERA in 13 appearances with 72.1 innings pitched with only 13 walks and 45 strikeouts. 

Best of the Rest Highlights for our Division II, III, NAIA & JUCO players:

Luke Napleton, Quincy (D2)

Napleton continues to show unbelievable juice at the plate for the Hawks as he went 6 for 15 this past weekend, hitting .400 blasting 2 more homers, a double and collecting 6 RBI's. Quincy took 3 of 4 from Missouri S&T over the weekend and finished the regular season 30-20 overall and 15-9 in the GLVC. Quincy will face Lindenwood in the first round of the GLVC Tournament today. Napleton finished the regular season hitting .349 with 9 doubles, 2 triples, 17 homers and 56 RBI's. 

Jake Lotz, Lewis (D2)

Lotz made two relief appearances this past weekend earning a save in one of them. In total, Lotz threw a combined 2.2 innings giving up 0 runs off only 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 4. Lewis lost 2 of 3 to Wayne State and finished the regular season with a 19-23-1 overall record and 13-11 in the GLVC. Lewis will take on Maryville in the first round of the GLVC Tournament today. Lotz in his senior year finished the regular season 3-1 with 2 saves, an ERA of 2.37 in 18 appearances with 30.1 innings pitched with 44 strikeouts. 

Jimmy Carey, St. Charles (JUCO)

Carey had a good weekend in the first round of the JUCO tournament going 4 for 7, hitting .571 with a homer, a double and collecting 4 RBI's to help the Cougars beat St. Fair CC twice to move them to play Crowder in the Regional JUCO Tournament. St. Charles is 30-17 overall and Carey is hitting .386 with 2 doubles, 4 homers and 14 RBI's in just 19 games played this year. 

Robert Chayka, Kentucky Wesleyan (D2)

Chayka went 6 for 16, hitting .375 this past week with a double and 3 RBI's. Kentucky Wesleyan split with Ashland and finished the regular season off with a 24-26 overall record and a 20-12 record in the GMAC. Kentucky Wesleyan played the 1st round of the GMAC Tournament yesterday where they beat Trevecca Nazarene and are onto the next round today. Chayka in his senior year is leading the team with a .346 batting average with 11 doubles, a triple, 8 homers and 39 RBI's.

Will GIbbs, Olney Central (JUCO)

Gibbs went 4 for 13, hitting .308 with 6 RBI's as they beat Rose-Hulman and swept Frontier to improve to 34-21 overall. The Spartans will play Southwestern Illinois in the Region 24 Tournament today. Gibbs is hitting .402 with 5 doubles, a triple, 3 homers and 32 RBI's. 

Andy Booth, Saint Leo (D2)

Booth continues to pitch really well for the 10th ranked Lions in Division 2 baseball. Booth went 2 innings of relief vs. Eckerd this past weekend giving up only 1 run off 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 1. Saint Leo took 2 of 3 from Eckerd to finish the regular season with a 35-15 overall record and were 20-10 in the SSC. Saint Leo will be awaiting to see where they will play for the NCAA D2 Regionals. Booth finished the regular season 5-0 with a 2.13 ERA in 19 appearances with 50.2 innings pitched giving up only 10 walks while striking out 53. 

Austin Divello, Coe (D3)

Divello made one relief appearance this past weekend vs. Buena Vista tossing 2 scoreless innings giving up only 1 hit and 0 walks. Coe lost 2 of 3 to Buena Vista and finished the regular season with a 17-19 overall record and were 12-12 in the A-R-C. Coe will play Luther in the 1st round of the A-R-C today. Divello finished the year 0-3 with 7 saves, with a 3.52 ERA in 14 appearances with 23 innings pitched with 19 strikeouts. 

Tyler Preissing, Aurora (D3)

Preissing made one relief appearance this past weekend, tossing 3 scoreless innings v. Rockford giving up 0 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4. Aurora beat Concordia-Wisconsin twice and Rockford twice to finish the year with a 32-7 overall record and were 21-3 in the NACC. Preissing finished the year 1-0 with a 3.65 ERA in 10 appearances, pitching 12.1 innings with 19 strikeouts. The NACC Tournament starts today. 

Jack Snyder, McHenry (JUCO)

Synder had one of his best offensive weeks this past week for McHenry as went 5 for 14, hitting .357 with a double and 3 RBI's. McHenry beat Olive-Harvey twice, Bryant & Stratton twice, beat South Sub, split with Highlands and lost to Kankakee to finish 36-16 overall. McHenry will play CLC in the first round of the JUCO Tournament today. 

Connor Blake, IIT (D3)

Blake went 5 for 16, hitting .313 this past weekend with an RBI. IIT however lost twice to Concordia-Wisconsin and twice to Edgewood to finish the year with a 9-31 overall record and 5-19 in the NACC. Blake finished the year hitting .424 with 11 doubles, 5 triples, 6 homers and 36 RBI's. 

Angel Sandoval, Saint Francis (NAIA)

Sandoval earned the win in his last game of his career as he is senior for the Saints as he beat Saint Xavier in the CCAC Tournament. Sandoval went 6.1 innings giving up only 2 runs off 8 hits and 3 walks while striking out 2. Saint Francis lost to Judson in the semi-finals and finished the year 30-27 overall. Sandoval finished the season 4-3 with a save, with a 4.57 ERA in 11 appearances with 43 innings pitched with 7 walks and 18 strikeouts. 

Khyle Radcliffe, John A. Logan (JUCO)

Radcliffe continued to stay hot with the stick as he collected 5 more hits this past week with 2 homers and 6 RBI's. The Vols beat Columbia State and Frontier and swept Shawnee to finish the regular season with a 38-14 overall record. The Vols will play Lakeland in the JUCO Tournament today. Radcliffe is hitting .307 with 11 doubles, 2 triples, 4 homers, 27 RBI's and 14 stolen bases. 

Tommy Nelsen, Wisconsin- LaCrosse (D3)

Nelsen collected 6 hits this past week with two homers, two doubles and collected 10 RBI's. UW-LaCrosse beat Luther and split with UW-Eau Claire over the weekend to finish 23-16 overall and 16-12 in the WIAC. UW-LaCrosse plays UW-Stevens Point in the 1st round today in the WIAC Tournament.

Cherokee LeBeau, Lewis (D2)

LeBeau went 3 for 8, hitting .375 this past week vs. Wayne State. Lewis lost 2 of 3 and finished the year with a 19-23-1 overall record. LeBeau is hitting .382 in only 18 games due to some injuries. 

Nick Talarico, Case Western Reserve (D3)

Talarico collected 2 hits this past weekend with a homer, a double and 3 RBI's. Case Western beat John Carroll and split with Mt. Union to finish the year 23-17 overall and 12-4 in the PAC.

Brandon Bennitt, IIT (D3)

Bennitt went 2 for 4 this past weekend to finish off his senior year. IIT lost twice to Concordia-Wisconsin and twice to Edgewood to finish up 9-31 overall. Bennitt finished his senior campaign hitting .345 with 10 doubles, 2 triples, 4 homers and 41 RBI's. 

Brian Rapanan, MIT (D3)

Rapanan went 2 for 5 with an RBI vs. Coast Guard in the opening round of the NEWMAC Tournament and also pitched 0.2 scoreless innings. Rapanan got to pitch two more times both vs. Wheaton College in the 2nd round and in the NEWMAC Championship game throwing a total of 7 innings of relief vs. them giving 5 runs off 8 hits and 4 walks while striking out 5. MIT finished the year with 18-23-1 overall record. Rapanan finished his freshman season hitting .267 with two doubles and 7 RBI's. He was 1-2 with 2 saves and ERA of 5.15 in 36.2 innings pitched with 29 strikeouts. 

AJ Casmer, Lewis (D2)

Casmer made one relief appearance this past weekend vs. Wayne State where he tossed one scoreless inning giving up 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 2. Lewis lost 2 of 3 to Wayne State and finished the regular season with a 19-23-1 overall record. Casmer finished the year with a 3.86 ERA is 6 appearances 4.2 innings pitched with 5 strikeouts.
