Dylan Whitney, INF, Johns Hopkins (D3)
Whitney wins player of the week for the 2nd time in a row this week after he went 4 for 10, hitting .400 in the Super Regional vs. Wheaton (MA) with a double and an RBI. John Hopkins the overall #1 seed in NCAA Division III Baseball this year beat Wheaton (MA) in the Super Regional to advance to the NCAA Division III World Series this weekend. Johns Hopkins is 44-5 overall on the year and will take on Misericordia in the 1st round of the World Series.
Best of the Rest Highlights from our D2/D3/NAIA & JUCO players:
Tyler Patton, C, Aurora (D3)
Patton went 1 for 5 with 2 RBI's in the Super Regional vs. Baldwin-Wallace this past week. Aurora lost to Baldwin-Wallace twice and finished the year 42-6 overall.
Luke Napleton, C, Quincy (D2)
Napleton went 2 for 8 with two doubles and an RBI in the Super Regional for NCAA Division II vs. UIndy. Quincy got beat twice by UIndy and finished the year 47-11 overall. Napleton was Player of the Year in the GLVC and was also Midwest Region First Team as well.
Logan Peterson, RHP, UIndy (D2)
Peterson didn't get into the Super Regional vs. Quincy but looks to make an impact in the NCAA Division II World Series as the Greyhounds beat Quincy twice to advance to the World Series. UIndy will play Millersville in the 1st round of the World Series this weekend.
Sam Antonacci, INF, Heartland (JUCO)
Antonacci and the Hawks are in the NJCAA Division II World Series this weekend in Oklahoma.
Dan Reischl, RHP, Wisconsin-LaCrosse (D3)
Reischl didn't get to pitch in the Super Regional but they beat UW-Stevens Point and are headed to the NCAA Division III World Series this weekend. UW-LaCrosse is 36-11 overall and will face Lynchburg in the 1st round of the World Series.
Max Engstrom, LHP, Indiana Wesleyan (NAIA)
Engstrom and his teammates made it all the way to NAIA World Series and lost in Final Four to the #1 seed Southeastern to finish the year 41-20-1 overall. The Wildcats went 2-2 in the NAIA World Series and beat two powerhouse teams Bellevue and Georgia Gwinnett.
