Weekly Top Tier Alumni Roundup for our NCAA Division II, III, NAIA & JUCO Players:



Player of the Week:

Jake Lotz, LHP, Lewis (D2)

Lotz ended his senior campaign giving it everything he had, as he pitched unbelievable out of the bullpen for the Flyers in the GLVC Championships this past week. Lotz made three relief appearances, earning a win and a save in two of them. In total, Lotz threw 11 innings this past week, giving up 0 earned runs off only 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 13. Lewis made it all the way to the semi-finals of the GLVC Tournament and finished the year off 22-25-1 overall. Lotz finished the year 4-1 with 3 saves and had an ERA of 1.74 in 41.1 innings of work with 57 strikeouts. 

Best of the Rest Highlights for our Division II, III, NAIA & JUCO players:

Will Gibbs, Olney Central (JUCO)

Gibbs finished the year off as hot as he started going 8 for 15, hitting .533 with two doubles and 5 RBI's in the Region 24 Tournament this past week. Olney Central went 2-2 in the tournament and ended the season losing to Wabash Valley and finished 36-23 overall. Gibbs had a remarkable year hitting .413 with 7 doubles, a triple, 3 homers, 37 RBI's and 29 stolen bases. 

Khyle Radcliffe, John A. Logan (JUCO)

Radcliffe was on fire at the plate this past week in the Regionals as they won their Region and continue on to play South Suburban College in the Midwest Districts today. Radcliffe went 6 for 14, hitting .428 with three doubles, a triple and an RBI. John A. Logan is 41-15 overall on the year. 

Ronnie Nowak, Marshalltown (JUCO)

Nowak went 4 for 8, hitting .500 with two doubles, a triple and 3 RBI's in the Region IX tournament. The Tigers went 1-2 and finished the year 14-38 overall on the year. 

Austin Divello, Coe (D3)

Divello made two relief appearances in the A-R-C Championships. He threw one inning vs. Loras giving up 0 runs off 2 hits and then threw 2 innings in the championship vs. Wartburg giving up 0 runs off 0 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2.  Coe won the A-R-C Championship and earned the automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Regional Championship and will take on North Central in the 1st rounds of the tournament today. Coe is 21-19 overall on the year. 

Tommy Nelsen, Wisconsin-LaCrosse (D3)

Nelsen went 4 for 12, hitting .333 this past week in the WIAC Tournament with a homer, two doubles and 4 RBI's. They went 1-2 in the WIAC tournament and finished the year 24-18 overall. Nelsen finished the year hitting .355 with 12 doubles, a triple, 4 homers and 29 RBI's. 

Cherokee LeBeau, Lewis (D2)

LeBeau collected a hit in every game in the GLVC Championships this past week going 6 for 18, hitting .333 with a double and 6 RBI's. Lewis lost in the semi-finals to Quincy and finished the year 22-25-1 overall and LeBeau finished the year hitting .370.

Brad White, South Suburban (JUCO)

White went 3 for 6 with a homer and an RBI in the Regional Championship, which they won and are now take on John A. Logan in the District Championships today. South Suburban is 41-17 overall on the year. 

Jimmy Carey, St. Charles (JUCO)

Carey went 3 for 8 in the Region 16 Tournament this past week as they lost both games and finished the year 30-19 overall. 

Robert Chayka, Kentucky Wesleyan (D2)

Chayka collected 5 hits in the GMAC Tournament with a homer and 5 RBI's. Kentucky Wesleyan lost to Ashland in the GMAC Tournament to finish the year 26-28 overall. Chayka lead the team in batting average in his senior year hitting .336 with 11 doubles, a triple, 9 homers and 43 RBI's. 

Luke Napleton, Quincy (D2)

Napleton collected 5 hits this past week in the GLVC Tournament with a homer, two doubles and 5 RBI's. Quincy lost in the GLVC Championship to UIS but still earned an at large bid in to the NCAA Division II Championships after finishing the year 33-22 overall. Quincy will take on Northwood today in the Midwest Regional. 

Lucas Spence, Blackhawk (JUCO)

Spence went 2 for 6 with 3 RBI's as they beat Carl Sandburg twice to win Region 4 Division II Sectional and will move onto the Region 4 Tournament vs. Madison today. Blackhawk is 34-18 overall on the year. 

Nick Baldassano, Aurora (D3)

Baldassano went 1 for 3 in one of the NACC Tournament playoff games this past week. Aurora went 1-2 in the NACC tournament but earned an at large bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament after they went 33-9 overall on the year. Aurora will take on Augustana in the NCAA DIII Regionals today. 

Brett Taucher, Quincy (D2)

Taucher threw one inning of relief in the GLVC Tournament this past week giving up 0 runs off 1 hit and 1 walk with 1 strikeout. Quincy lost in the Championship to UIS but earned an at large bid into the NCAA Division II Tournament and will take on Northwood today in the Midwest Regional. 

Tommy Egan, Iowa Western (JUCO)

Egan earned a start in the Region IX Tournament where he earned a no-decision going 3.2 innings giving up 2 runs off 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2. Iowa Western won the Region IX Championship and will play Wabash Valley in the Midwest Districts today. Iowa Western is 47-12 overall on the year. 

Tyler Preissing, Aurora (D3)

Preissing threw 1.1 innings of relief in the NACC Tournament giving up 1 run off 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2. Aurora went 1-2 in the NACC tournament but earned an at large bid into the NCAA Division III Championships after they went 33-9 overall on the year. 

Notables heading into this weekend:

Saint Leo didn't play this past week but earned an at large bid in the NCAA Division II Championships and will host a South Regional as they were 35-15 overall on the year. They will take on Lee in the 1st round. Top Tier Alums on this squad include, Andy Booth, Luke Pappas and Hunter Kiem

Wingate didn't play this past week but earned an at large bid into the NCAA Division II Championships as they went 46-8 overall on the year. Wingate will host a Southeast Regional and will face Young Harris in the 1st round. Top Tier alum on this squad is Mitch Farris. 

North Central lost to Augustana in the CCIW Tournament but earned an at large bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament after going 33-12 overall on the year. North Central will play Coe in the Regional this weekend in the 1st round. Top Tier alum on this squad is Danny Nuccio

Augustana won the CCIW Championship this past weekend and earned the automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championships. Augustana was 33-10 overall on the year and will face Aurora in the 1st round of the Regionals. Top Tier alum on this squad is Adam Bendoraitis. 

Rochester won their conference tournament and earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championships. They face off in the Regionals this weekend. Top Tier alum on this squad is Alex Gonzalo
